Muškarac iz Australije, koji je živio u uvjerenju da je njegov otac odrastao u sirotištu u Chicagu, napravio je DNA test i ustanovio da je prošlost njegova oca još mračnija nego što je mogao i zamisliti, piše Insider, a prenosi Jutarnji list.

Andrew, koji nije želio otkriti svoje pravo ime, ispričao je u BBC-jevom podcastu ‘The Gift‘ da nije znao mnogo o ocu, prodajnom predstavniku imena John Damon, kad je ovaj 2010. godine umro u dobi od 69 godina.

Nakon što je 2022. napravio kućni DNA test, Andrew je doznao da je pravo ime njegova oca bilo William Leslie Arnold. I doista je bio siroče, no zato što je sa 16 godina upucao svoje roditelje i zakopao ih u dvorištu kuće.

Arnold je idućih osam godina bio ‘uzoran zatvorenik‘, pokazalo je izvješće američke šerifske službe iz 2023. No 1967. je pobjegao iz zatvora i ostatak je života uspješno izbjegavao ponovno uhićenje. Na koncu se skrasio i dobio djecu s drugom ženom, Andrewovom majkom. Obitelj se preselila u Australiju gdje Andrew sada živi.

Arnoldov je slučaj ostao neotkriven sve dok Andrew, inspiriran TV emisijom o DNA testiranju, nije odlučio testirati samog sebe kako bi doznao nešto više o očevoj strani obitelji. Rezultati su otkrili da je Andrew zapravo sin bjegunca pred zakonom kojeg američka policija traži već 50 godina. Andrew kaže kako nije ljut na svoga oca jer se ‘ljudi mogu promijeniti‘.

‘Mislim da prema njemu nikad nisam osjećao ljutnju kad sam doznao istinu. Radi se o vrlo neobičnoj situaciji jer je u pitanju težak zločin. Dvoje ljudi je izgubilo živote, a ostali su proživjeli veliku traumu zbog toga. No, osoba koju sam poznavao bila je posve drugačija, a ja sam danas živ zahvaljujući mom ocu koji me odgojio i brinuo se za mene‘, kazao je Andrew.

Govoreći o karakteru svog oca, kazao je: ‘Nikad ne bih svoga oca opisao kao nasilnog. Bio je vrlo inteligentan i u svemu me podržavao. Ponekad me i previše ohrabrivao. Prema tome, znam da se čovjek može promijeniti kroz desetljeća i pretpostavljam da su događaji iz prošlosti bili dio, da tako kažem, ‘savršene oluje‘.

Geoff Britton, nekadašnji istražitelj u zatvorskom sustavu Nebraske koji je radio na ovom slučaju između 2004. i 2013., kazao je kako je Arnold u principu ‘rehabilitirao sam sebe‘. Suvremeni DNK testovi mogu otkriti i druge stvari koje inače nikad ne bi izašle na vidjelo, a ne samo tajnu kriminalnu prošlost ljudi.

Insider je ranije pisao o tri osobe koje su otkrile da su druge rase te o jednoj obitelji koja je otkrila da suprug nije biološki otac njihovog sina, jer je u liječenju neplodnosti njegove majke korištena sperma drugog muškarca, prenosi Jutarnji list.

Muškarac iz Australije, koji je živio u uvjerenju da je njegov otac odrastao u sirotištu u Chicagu, napravio je DNA test i ustanovio da je prošlost njegova oca još mračnija nego što je mogao i zamisliti, piše Insider, a prenosi Jutarnji list.

Andrew, koji nije želio otkriti svoje pravo ime, ispričao je u BBC-jevom podcastu ‘The Gift‘ da nije znao mnogo o ocu, prodajnom predstavniku imena John Damon, kad je ovaj 2010. godine umro u dobi od 69 godina.

Nakon što je 2022. napravio kućni DNA test, Andrew je doznao da je pravo ime njegova oca bilo William Leslie Arnold. I doista je bio siroče, no zato što je sa 16 godina upucao svoje roditelje i zakopao ih u dvorištu kuće.

Arnold je idućih osam godina bio ‘uzoran zatvorenik‘, pokazalo je izvješće američke šerifske službe iz 2023. No 1967. je pobjegao iz zatvora i ostatak je života uspješno izbjegavao ponovno uhićenje. Arnoldov je slučaj ostao neotkriven sve dok Andrew, inspiriran TV emisijom o DNA testiranju, nije odlučio testirati samog sebe kako bi doznao nešto više o očevoj strani obitelji. Rezultati su otkrili da je Andrew zapravo sin bjegunca pred zakonom kojeg američka policija traži već 50 godina. Andrew kaže kako nije ljut na svoga oca jer se ‘ljudi mogu promijeniti‘.

‘Mislim da prema njemu nikad nisam osjećao ljutnju kad sam doznao istinu. Radi se o vrlo neobičnoj situaciji jer je u pitanju težak zločin. Dvoje ljudi je izgubilo živote, a ostali su proživjeli veliku traumu zbog toga. No, osoba koju sam poznavao bila je posve drugačija, a ja sam danas živ zahvaljujući mom ocu koji me odgojio i brinuo se za mene‘, kazao je Andrew.

Govoreći o karakteru svog oca, kazao je: ‘Nikad ne bih svoga oca opisao kao nasilnog. Bio je vrlo inteligentan i u svemu me podržavao. Ponekad me i previše ohrabrivao. Prema tome, znam da se čovjek može promijeniti kroz desetljeća i pretpostavljam da su događaji iz prošlosti bili dio, da tako kažem, ‘savršene oluje‘.

Geoff Britton, nekadašnji istražitelj u zatvorskom sustavu Nebraske koji je radio na ovom slučaju između 2004. i 2013., kazao je kako je Arnold u principu ‘rehabilitirao sam sebe‘. Suvremeni DNK testovi mogu otkriti i druge stvari koje inače nikad ne bi izašle na vidjelo, a ne samo tajnu kriminalnu prošlost ljudi.

Muškarac iz Australije, koji je živio u uvjerenju da je njegov otac odrastao u sirotištu u Chicagu, napravio je DNA test i ustanovio da je prošlost njegova oca još mračnija nego što je mogao i zamisliti, piše Insider, a prenosi Jutarnji list.

Andrew, koji nije želio otkriti svoje pravo ime, ispričao je u BBC-jevom podcastu ‘The Gift‘ da nije znao mnogo o ocu, prodajnom predstavniku imena John Damon, kad je ovaj 2010. godine umro u dobi od 69 godina.

Nakon što je 2022. napravio kućni DNA test, Andrew je doznao da je pravo ime njegova oca bilo William Leslie Arnold. I doista je bio siroče, no zato što je sa 16 godina upucao svoje roditelje i zakopao ih u dvorištu kuće.

Arnold je idućih osam godina bio ‘uzoran zatvorenik‘, pokazalo je izvješće američke šerifske službe iz 2023. No 1967. je pobjegao iz zatvora i ostatak je života uspješno izbjegavao ponovno uhićenje.
