Fikcionalizirani pristup britanskoj paleontologinji i sakupljačici fosila Mary Anning u filmu "Ammonite" ("Amonit") gay filmaša Francisa Leeja podigao je prašinu kontroverzi prije nego se snimio jedan jedini kadar. Kad se doznalo da će Mary imati gay vezu s Charlotte Murchison, njezini rođaci su podigli barufu bez da su vidjeli Leejev scenarij, kamoli gotovi film, otprilike kao naši dežurni dušebrižnici u slučaju "Omena 666".

Dvije žene su bile prijateljice, ali Maryna seksualnost nije nikad bila potvrđena i Lee se našao na nišanu kritika da je izmislio gay vezu bez ijednog dokaza da je ona bila lezbijka. Dominantna kritika bila je zašto je njezin privatni, nepotvrđeni seksualni život tema filma koji na taj način čini priču "senzacionalnom", a već je, kao, dovoljno bilo da je Mary bila zlostavljana zato što je siromašna, neobrazovana i žena.

Lee je pametno doskočio kritikama, istaknuvši kako se gay povijest rutinski heteroseksualizira i poantiravši kako nije bilo dokaza ni da je Mary heteroseksualna.

Stoga, zašto ne bi bilo dozvoljeno da je sagleda unutar drukčijeg konteksta, posebice što je riječ o ženi čiji je rad i život bio podvrgnut najgorim aspektima patrijarhata, društvene diskriminacije i spolne neravnoteže, svega što ovaj filmaš problematizira u svojim filmovima (klasa, spol, seksualost), od "God's Own Country" do "Ammonite".

Međutim, jedna Marya rodica je bila pozitivnija, rekavši da je ona bila usamljena i nezavisna žena, što bi u današnjem svijetu moglo navesti da je bila lezbijka, te da to nije važno dokle god je film napravljen s dobrim ukusom. Srećom, "Amonit" je upravo takav film, a Mary je tretirana s respektom i izgleda stvarno i autentično, dok je razvoj njezina lika prirodan.

Ljubavna priča se prirodno razvija iz društvenog konteksta. S jedne strane imamo Mary (izvanredna Kate Winslet u jednoj od najboljih uloga), usamljenicu iz radničke klase i autsajdericu u muškom svijetu paleontologa Viktorijanske Engleske cca 1840. godine, nedovoljno cijenjenu samo zato što je žena.

Nasuprot nje imamo mladu Charlotte (odlična Saoirse Ronan), krhku djevojku iz gornjeg sloja društva kojoj imućni suprug, paleontolog Roderick (James McArdle), naručuje hranu u restoranu i općenito odlučuje umjesto nje, a njezinu potištenost (prema svemu sudeći zbog smrti djeteta) naziva melankolijom.

Charlotte se osjeća kao fosil zatočen u kamenu, amonit, kojeg će Mary "iskopati" kad je suprug ostavi sa njom u obalnom gradiću Lyme Regisu u Dorsetu i ode na ekspediciju. Opet, Charlotte će "osloboditi nešto" u Mary, probuditi snažne emocije u njoj, skrivene poput amonita u stijeni. Uzajamna privlačnost među njima pupa polako i, ponovimo, prirodno.

Cijeli film djeluje prirodno, što pospješuju i prirodni zvukovi. Zvuk je ovdje izražajno sredstvo gotovo kao u "Sound Of Metal". Prvi zvuk je zvuk cijeđenja vode i ribanja poda, a ubrzo ga upotpunjuje slika žene (čistačice) na koljenima u Britanskom muzeju, gdje gospoda dolaze vidjeti novi izložak – "morskog guštera" kojeg je pronašla Mary.

Malo po malo, svakom idućom scenom, u uho ulaze zvukovi paljenja svijeće, loženja vatre, vjetra i valova kako udaraju o obalu i morem prekrivaju plažu punu oblutaka. Film će biti senzorno iskustvo, kao da predočava redatelj koji pušta da zvuk i slika govore više od dijaloga i šutljive Mary koju Winslet glumi oslanjajući se na govor tijela, a redatelj na neizrečeno, no mišljeno.

Posebnu pozornost redatelj pridaje zvuku vatre kako pucketa jednom kad se Mary i Charlotte počnu zbližavati i osjećati nešto prema onoj drugoj, a njihova zabranjena romansa cvjetati. Pucketanje vatre signalizira da Mary i Charlotte izgaraju iznutra od strasti.

Ovo "izgaraju" moglo bi podsjetiti na relativno slično pozicionirani nedavni film "Portret djevojke koja izgara" ili "Portret djevojke u plamenu" Celine Sciamma (istospolna ljubavna priča koja se, k tome, odvija blizu plaže). No, "Amonit" ne zaslužuje biti u njegovoj sjeni i pasti kao žrtva neminovne usporedbe, budući da je prelijep, jednako sjajan, možda čak i sjajniji, glumački pa i režijski.

Bolje glumice od Adele Haenel i Noemie Merlant, Winslet i Ronan imaju iskustva s kostimiranim romantičnim dramama, glumeći od "Razuma i osjećaja" (prva) do "Malih žena" (druga), ali ne i ovako tjelesnim ulogama, posebice nevina Saoirse, dok se Kate znala razgolititi ("Titanic", "Sveti dim").

Buđenje požude je izvedeno dosta taktilno i senzualno u oslikavanju čežnje za povezanošću, ali nakon što dodiri postanu učestaliji i odnos Mary i Charlotte postane tjelesan, "Ammonite" biva iznenađujuće erotski (s)eksplicitan, nesputan i intenzivan, sirov i strasan, no uvijek intiman i osoban.

Veliki je kontrast između tih dviju "krajnosti", no sve je to smisleno i funkcionira prilično savršeno. Eksplozija strasti predstavlja simboličnu i doslovnu slobodu koju su Mary i Charlotte napokon iskusile kad su otkopčale tijesne korzete u koje ih je stisnulo muško društvo, odnosno kad su podijelile krevet, intimu i osjećaje, ispreplele tijela.

Scene su bliskije nekakvoj povijesnoj inačici podražajnih erotskih prizora Kechicheova "Adelinog života" s Adele Exarchopoulos i Leom Seydoux nego Sciamminu filmu kojeg "Amonit" zaziva "slikarskom" fotografijom Stephanea Fontainea ("Elle", "Kapetan Fantastični", "Jackie"), kućnog kamermana redatelja Jacquesa Audiarda.

Puritanci će biti nanovo šokirani, čak i više s obzirom na poznate glumice u glavnim ulogama. Pa ipak, "Ammonite" je prije svega film o povezanosti, a ne tjelesnosti, neovisno o istom spolu. Nečemu što je vrijedno kao pronalazak amonita.

Scena seksa za rođendan

Kate i Saoirse su same koreografirale scenu seksu. Snimile su je na Ronaničin 25. rođendan, kako bi se ona osjećala "sretnom i opuštenom", a i iskoristile su priliku da popiju malo alkohola za relaksaciju. P.S. "Amonit" se premijerno pojavio na hrvatskom "online" videotržištu.

Fikcionalizirani pristup britanskoj paleontologinji i sakupljačici fosila Mary Anning u filmu "Ammonite" ("Amonit") gay filmaša Francisa Leeja podigao je prašinu kontroverzi prije nego se snimio jedan jedini kadar. Kad se doznalo da će Mary imati gay vezu s Charlotte Murchison, njezini rođaci su podigli barufu bez da su vidjeli Leejev scenarij, kamoli gotovi film, otprilike kao naši dežurni dušebrižnici u slučaju "Omena 666".

Dvije žene su bile prijateljice, ali Maryna seksualnost nije nikad bila potvrđena i Lee se našao na nišanu kritika da je izmislio gay vezu bez ijednog dokaza da je ona bila lezbijka. Dominantna kritika bila je zašto je njezin privatni, nepotvrđeni seksualni život tema filma koji na taj način čini priču "senzacionalnom", a već je, kao, dovoljno bilo da je Mary bila zlostavljana zato što je siromašna, neobrazovana i žena.

Lee je pametno doskočio kritikama, istaknuvši kako se gay povijest rutinski heteroseksualizira i poantiravši kako nije bilo dokaza ni da je Mary heteroseksualna.

Stoga, zašto ne bi bilo dozvoljeno da je sagleda unutar drukčijeg konteksta, posebice što je riječ o ženi čiji je rad i život bio podvrgnut najgorim aspektima patrijarhata, društvene diskriminacije i spolne neravnoteže, svega što ovaj filmaš problematizira u svojim filmovima (klasa, spol, seksualost), od "God's Own Country" do "Ammonite".

Međutim, jedna Marya rodica je bila pozitivnija, rekavši da je ona bila usamljena i nezavisna žena, što bi u današnjem svijetu moglo navesti da je bila lezbijka, te da to nije važno dokle god je film napravljen s dobrim ukusom. Srećom, "Amonit" je upravo takav film, a Mary je tretirana s respektom i izgleda stvarno i autentično, dok je razvoj njezina lika prirodan.

Ljubavna priča se prirodno razvija iz društvenog konteksta. S jedne strane imamo Mary (izvanredna Kate Winslet u jednoj od najboljih uloga), usamljenicu iz radničke klase i autsajdericu u muškom svijetu paleontologa Viktorijanske Engleske cca 1840. godine, nedovoljno cijenjenu samo zato što je žena.

Nasuprot nje imamo mladu Charlotte (odlična Saoirse Ronan), krhku djevojku iz gornjeg sloja društva kojoj imućni suprug, paleontolog Roderick (James McArdle), naručuje hranu u restoranu i općenito odlučuje umjesto nje, a njezinu potištenost (prema svemu sudeći zbog smrti djeteta) naziva melankolijom.

Charlotte se osjeća kao fosil zatočen u kamenu, amonit, kojeg će Mary "iskopati" kad je suprug ostavi sa njom u obalnom gradiću Lyme Regisu u Dorsetu i ode na ekspediciju. Opet, Charlotte će "osloboditi nešto" u Mary, probuditi snažne emocije u njoj, skrivene poput amonita u stijeni. Uzajamna privlačnost među njima pupa polako i, ponovimo, prirodno.

Cijeli film djeluje prirodno, što pospješuju i prirodni zvukovi. Zvuk je ovdje izražajno sredstvo gotovo kao u "Sound Of Metal". Prvi zvuk je zvuk cijeđenja vode i ribanja poda, a ubrzo ga upotpunjuje slika žene (čistačice) na koljenima u Britanskom muzeju, gdje gospoda dolaze vidjeti novi izložak – "morskog guštera" kojeg je pronašla Mary.

Malo po malo, svakom idućom scenom, u uho ulaze zvukovi paljenja svijeće, loženja vatre, vjetra i valova kako udaraju o obalu i morem prekrivaju plažu punu oblutaka. Film će biti senzorno iskustvo, kao da predočava redatelj koji pušta da zvuk i slika govore više od dijaloga i šutljive Mary koju Winslet glumi oslanjajući se na govor tijela, a redatelj na neizrečeno, no mišljeno.

Posebnu pozornost redatelj pridaje zvuku vatre kako pucketa jednom kad se Mary i Charlotte počnu zbližavati i osjećati nešto prema onoj drugoj, a njihova zabranjena romansa cvjetati. Pucketanje vatre signalizira da Mary i Charlotte izgaraju iznutra od strasti.

Ovo "izgaraju" moglo bi podsjetiti na relativno slično pozicionirani nedavni film "Portret djevojke koja izgara" ili "Portret djevojke u plamenu" Celine Sciamma (istospolna ljubavna priča koja se, k tome, odvija blizu plaže). No, "Amonit" ne zaslužuje biti u njegovoj sjeni i pasti kao žrtva neminovne usporedbe, budući da je prelijep, jednako sjajan, možda čak i sjajniji, glumački pa i režijski.

Bolje glumice od Adele Haenel i Noemie Merlant, Winslet i Ronan imaju iskustva s kostimiranim romantičnim dramama, glumeći od "Razuma i osjećaja" (prva) do "Malih žena" (druga), ali ne i ovako tjelesnim ulogama, posebice nevina Saoirse, dok se Kate znala razgolititi ("Titanic", "Sveti dim").

Buđenje požude je izvedeno dosta taktilno i senzualno u oslikavanju čežnje za povezanošću, ali nakon što dodiri postanu učestaliji i odnos Mary i Charlotte postane tjelesan, "Ammonite" biva iznenađujuće erotski (s)eksplicitan, nesputan i intenzivan, sirov i strasan, no uvijek intiman i osoban.

Veliki je kontrast između tih dviju "krajnosti", no sve je to smisleno i funkcionira prilično savršeno. Eksplozija strasti predstavlja simboličnu i doslovnu slobodu koju su Mary i Charlotte napokon iskusile kad su otkopčale tijesne korzete u koje ih je stisnulo muško društvo, odnosno kad su podijelile krevet, intimu i osjećaje, ispreplele tijela.

Scene su bliskije nekakvoj povijesnoj inačici podražajnih erotskih prizora Kechicheova "Adelinog života" s Adele Exarchopoulos i Leom Seydoux nego Sciamminu filmu kojeg "Amonit" zaziva "slikarskom" fotografijom Stephanea Fontainea ("Elle", "Kapetan Fantastični", "Jackie"), kućnog kamermana redatelja Jacquesa Audiarda.

Puritanci će biti nanovo šokirani, čak i više s obzirom na poznate glumice u glavnim ulogama. Pa ipak, "Ammonite" je prije svega film o povezanosti, a ne tjelesnosti, neovisno o istom spolu. Nečemu što je vrijedno kao pronalazak amonita.

Scena seksa za rođendan

Kate i Saoirse su same koreografirale scenu seksu. Snimile su je na Ronaničin 25. rođendan, kako bi se ona osjećala "sretnom i opuštenom", a i iskoristile su priliku da popiju malo alkohola za relaksaciju. P.S. "Amonit" se premijerno pojavio na hrvatskom "online" videotržištu.
