Šetajući se uz more u posljednjih nekoliko mjeseci, više sam puta vidio različite puževe golaće, jednom čak i onog najvećeg, zekana. Ne znam jesu li odjednom počeli dolaziti uz obalu ili je to posljedica dugih šetnji uz more u vrijeme korone, ali zanima me koliko takvih puževa ima i zašto nemaju ljušturu.

Puževima golaćima obično se nazivaju organizmi iz grupe puževa, jedne od osam grupa iz koljena mekušaca. To naglašavam jer neki manje upoznati često miješaju i neke vrste morskih krastavaca s puževima golaćima, iako međusobno nemaju nikakve veze.

Kad govorimo o puževima golaćima, pod tim imenom obično mislimo na puževe iz grupe Nudibranchia, koji se hrvatski nazivaju gološkržnjaši, iako postoje još neki organizmi koji se nazivaju puževima golaćima, primjerice iz grupe Sacoglossa ili Aglajidae.

Gološkržnjaši su tijekom evolucije izgubili zaštitnu ljušturu, ali su zato razvili neke druge načine obrane od grabežljivaca. Nekima je tijelo tako evoluiralo da su i oblikom i bojom potpuno istovjetni okolini u kojoj žive te ih tek pažljivo oko promatrača može vidjeti dok se tako nevidljivi kreću, posebice oko spužvi i koralja kojima se hrane.

Nasuprot takvoj kamuflaži, neke vrste imaju jarke boje po cijelom tijelu te ih zapravo svi vide, a posebna su poslastica za podvodne fotografe koji ih snimaju.

Boja je otrov

Razloge tako jarkih boja vjerojatno pogađate: svuda u prirodi, kako na kopnu, tako i na moru, jarke boje uglavnom upozoravaju ostale da se radi o otrovnom organizmu koji nije preporučljivo zagristi. Neke od tih vrsta same razvijaju otrove u svome tijelu, a neki ih skupljaju jedući hranu koja ih sadrži.

Štoviše, neke vrste čuvaju u sebi i bodljikave stanice drugih organizama koje im se bez problema kreću probavnim traktom, sve dok ih ne upotrijebe i izbace za vrijeme obrambenih akcija.

Također, mnoge vrste imaju mogućnost izbacivanje neke vrste tinte, slično sipi, kojom odbijaju napasne grabežljivce. Najčešće te kemijske smjese koje izbacuju nisu otrovne, nego djeluju na ostale organizme na način da im zgade mogućnost da ih pojedu jer su vrlo neprivlačnog okusa.

Dodatno neke vrste u sebi, posebice u kožnim stanicama, sadrže doslovno kiselinu koja se izbacuje automatski i na najmanji dodir tijela od strane nekog nepoznatog.

Iako će mnogi pomisliti da su puževi golaći biljojedi, istina je posve drugačija. Osnovna hrana su im spužve, mahovnjaci, moruzgve i meduze, obrubnjaci, manje vrste puževa golaća, a kod nekih vrsta zabilježeno je čak i da se jedu između sebe, po principu veći puž jede manjega.

Pjesma gologa puža

Dosad je zabilježeno više od 3000 vrsta gološkržnjaka, od kojih u Jadranu, prema nekim podacima, živi njih stotinjak. Ima ih različitih veličina, dužine od nekoliko centimetara pa sve do 75 cm, kao što je to slučaj s jednim kalifornijskim pužem koji pri toj dužini može težiti i nevjerojatnih 14 kg.

S obzirom na to da koriste boju tijela za kamuflažu ili odbijanje grabežljivaca, jasno je da većina živi u plićim područjima od same površine do tridesetak metara, ali neki su ipak zabilježeni i na dubinama od 2500 metara. Uglavnom se svi drže dna, pri čemu se neki i zakopavaju u pijesak, ali postoje i neke vrste koje su pelagične, tj. žive u stupcu mora.

Za kraj ovog kratkog upoznavanja s puževima golaćima zanimljivo je spomenuti jednu od njihovih najčudnijih karakteristika. Naime, neka su istraživanja pokazala da nekoliko vrsta puževa golaća može proizvoditi zvukove koje čuje ljudsko uho.

Proizvodnja dugih zvukova primijećena je samo dok se kreću i najčešće u toplijem moru, što očito ima veze s metabolizmom. Nažalost, tu neobičnu karakteristiku i dalje obavija tajanstvenost, tako da pravi razlog tog glasanja nije poznat, ali pretpostavlja se da se radi o nekoj vrsti komunikacije između jedinki ili pak da je to još jedan obrambeni mehanizam

Šetajući se uz more u posljednjih nekoliko mjeseci, više sam puta vidio različite puževe golaće, jednom čak i onog najvećeg, zekana. Ne znam jesu li odjednom počeli dolaziti uz obalu ili je to posljedica dugih šetnji uz more u vrijeme korone, ali zanima me koliko takvih puževa ima i zašto nemaju ljušturu.

Puževima golaćima obično se nazivaju organizmi iz grupe puževa, jedne od osam grupa iz koljena mekušaca. To naglašavam jer neki manje upoznati često miješaju i neke vrste morskih krastavaca s puževima golaćima, iako međusobno nemaju nikakve veze.

Kad govorimo o puževima golaćima, pod tim imenom obično mislimo na puževe iz grupe Nudibranchia, koji se hrvatski nazivaju gološkržnjaši, iako postoje još neki organizmi koji se nazivaju puževima golaćima, primjerice iz grupe Sacoglossa ili Aglajidae.

Gološkržnjaši su tijekom evolucije izgubili zaštitnu ljušturu, ali su zato razvili neke druge načine obrane od grabežljivaca. Nekima je tijelo tako evoluiralo da su i oblikom i bojom potpuno istovjetni okolini u kojoj žive te ih tek pažljivo oko promatrača može vidjeti dok se tako nevidljivi kreću, posebice oko spužvi i koralja kojima se hrane.

Nasuprot takvoj kamuflaži, neke vrste imaju jarke boje po cijelom tijelu te ih zapravo svi vide, a posebna su poslastica za podvodne fotografe koji ih snimaju.

Boja je otrov

Razloge tako jarkih boja vjerojatno pogađate: svuda u prirodi, kako na kopnu, tako i na moru, jarke boje uglavnom upozoravaju ostale da se radi o otrovnom organizmu koji nije preporučljivo zagristi. Neke od tih vrsta same razvijaju otrove u svome tijelu, a neki ih skupljaju jedući hranu koja ih sadrži.

Štoviše, neke vrste čuvaju u sebi i bodljikave stanice drugih organizama koje im se bez problema kreću probavnim traktom, sve dok ih ne upotrijebe i izbace za vrijeme obrambenih akcija.

Također, mnoge vrste imaju mogućnost izbacivanje neke vrste tinte, slično sipi, kojom odbijaju napasne grabežljivce. Najčešće te kemijske smjese koje izbacuju nisu otrovne, nego djeluju na ostale organizme na način da im zgade mogućnost da ih pojedu jer su vrlo neprivlačnog okusa.

Dodatno neke vrste u sebi, posebice u kožnim stanicama, sadrže doslovno kiselinu koja se izbacuje automatski i na najmanji dodir tijela od strane nekog nepoznatog.

Iako će mnogi pomisliti da su puževi golaći biljojedi, istina je posve drugačija. Osnovna hrana su im spužve, mahovnjaci, moruzgve i meduze, obrubnjaci, manje vrste puževa golaća, a kod nekih vrsta zabilježeno je čak i da se jedu između sebe, po principu veći puž jede manjega.

Pjesma gologa puža

Dosad je zabilježeno više od 3000 vrsta gološkržnjaka, od kojih u Jadranu, prema nekim podacima, živi njih stotinjak. Ima ih različitih veličina, dužine od nekoliko centimetara pa sve do 75 cm, kao što je to slučaj s jednim kalifornijskim pužem koji pri toj dužini može težiti i nevjerojatnih 14 kg.

S obzirom na to da koriste boju tijela za kamuflažu ili odbijanje grabežljivaca, jasno je da većina živi u plićim područjima od same površine do tridesetak metara, ali neki su ipak zabilježeni i na dubinama od 2500 metara. Uglavnom se svi drže dna, pri čemu se neki i zakopavaju u pijesak, ali postoje i neke vrste koje su pelagične, tj. žive u stupcu mora.

Za kraj ovog kratkog upoznavanja s puževima golaćima zanimljivo je spomenuti jednu od njihovih najčudnijih karakteristika. Naime, neka su istraživanja pokazala da nekoliko vrsta puževa golaća može proizvoditi zvukove koje čuje ljudsko uho.

Proizvodnja dugih zvukova primijećena je samo dok se kreću i najčešće u toplijem moru, što očito ima veze s metabolizmom. Nažalost, tu neobičnu karakteristiku i dalje obavija tajanstvenost, tako da pravi razlog tog glasanja nije poznat, ali pretpostavlja se da se radi o nekoj vrsti komunikacije između jedinki ili pak da je to još jedan obrambeni mehanizam
