Čak 24 broda koja su potopljena tijekom krvave bitke za Iwo Jimu, u kojoj su se Amerikanci i Japanci sukobili u zadnjim mjesecima Drugog svjetskog rata, isplivala su s morskog dna na obalu Iwo Jime. Uzrok nenadne pojave brodskih olupina je pomicanje morskog tla uslijed aktivnosti vulkana Mount Suribachi, piše Daily Mail.

Na snimkama japanskog All Nippon Newsa vide se ostaci trupova 24 transportna broda koje su Amerikanci zarobili i potom premjestili na zapadni dio Iwo Jime da im posluže kao osnova za formiranje luke koje na otoku tada nije bilo, prenosi Jutarnji.hr.

Ti su brodovi poslužili kao svojevrsni lukobrani kako bi od valova i vjetra zaštitili američke brodove s kojih su se iskrcavali vojnici, naoružanje i oprema.

Desetljećima kasnije seizmička aktivnost vulkana Mount Suribachi, koji se smatra jednim od najaktivnijih u Japanu, podigla je morsko dno, a samim time i brodove.

Na otoku danas nema stanovnika, ali su na njemu prisutne japanske oružane snage koje su tamo došle nakon što su Amerikanci 1968. vratili otok pod upravu Tokija.

- Čini se da vulkanska aktivnost još nije završila, postoji mogućnost velike erupcije na Iwo Jimi, poručio je za All Nippon News Setsuya Nakada, direktor državnog Centra za istraživanje vulkana.

Na Iwo Jimi je do sad zabilježeno najmanje 10 erupcija, a posljednja se dogodila 1982. godine. Sam otok se pak od 1952. godine zbog vulkanske aktivnosti izdigao za najmanje 10 metara, prema istraživanju Sveučilišta Oregon.

U bitci za Iwo Jimu, koja je trajala od 19. veljače do 26. ožujka 1945., poginulo je više od 7000 američkih vojnika i oko 18.000 japanskih (zarobljeno je samo 216 Japanaca, op.a.), a završila je američkim osvajanjem otoka. I dok se o strateškom značaju bitke i dalje vode rasprave, danas je najpoznatija po čuvenoj fotografiji američkih marinaca koji na vrhu Mount Suribachija uzdižu stijeg SAD-a. Čak 24 broda koja su potopljena tijekom krvave bitke za Iwo Jimu, u kojoj su se Amerikanci i Japanci sukobili u zadnjim mjesecima Drugog svjetskog rata, isplivala su s morskog dna na obalu Iwo Jime. Uzrok nenadne pojave brodskih olupina je pomicanje morskog tla uslijed aktivnosti vulkana Mount Suribachi, piše Daily Mail.

Na snimkama japanskog All Nippon Newsa vide se ostaci trupova 24 transportna broda koje su Amerikanci zarobili i potom premjestili na zapadni dio Iwo Jime da im posluže kao osnova za formiranje luke koje na otoku tada nije bilo, prenosi Jutarnji.hr.

Ti su brodovi poslužili kao svojevrsni lukobrani kako bi od valova i vjetra zaštitili američke brodove s kojih su se iskrcavali vojnici, naoružanje i oprema.

Desetljećima kasnije seizmička aktivnost vulkana Mount Suribachi, koji se smatra jednim od najaktivnijih u Japanu, podigla je morsko dno, a samim time i brodove.

Na otoku danas nema stanovnika, ali su na njemu prisutne japanske oružane snage koje su tamo došle nakon što su Amerikanci 1968. vratili otok pod upravu Tokija.

- Čini se da vulkanska aktivnost još nije završila, postoji mogućnost velike erupcije na Iwo Jimi, poručio je za All Nippon News Setsuya Nakada, direktor državnog Centra za istraživanje vulkana.

Na Iwo Jimi je do sad zabilježeno najmanje 10 erupcija, a posljednja se dogodila 1982. godine. Sam otok se pak od 1952. godine zbog vulkanske aktivnosti izdigao za najmanje 10 metara, prema istraživanju Sveučilišta Oregon.

U bitci za Iwo Jimu, koja je trajala od 19. veljače do 26. ožujka 1945., poginulo je više od 7000 američkih vojnika i oko 18.000 japanskih (zarobljeno je samo 216 Japanaca, op.a.), a završila je američkim osvajanjem otoka. I dok se o strateškom značaju bitke i dalje vode rasprave, danas je najpoznatija po čuvenoj fotografiji američkih marinaca koji na vrhu Mount Suribachija uzdižu stijeg SAD-a. Čak 24 broda koja su potopljena tijekom krvave bitke za Iwo Jimu, u kojoj su se Amerikanci i Japanci sukobili u zadnjim mjesecima Drugog svjetskog rata, isplivala su s morskog dna na obalu Iwo Jime. Uzrok nenadne pojave brodskih olupina je pomicanje morskog tla uslijed aktivnosti vulkana Mount Suribachi, piše Daily Mail.

Na snimkama japanskog All Nippon Newsa vide se ostaci trupova 24 transportna broda koje su Amerikanci zarobili i potom premjestili na zapadni dio Iwo Jime da im posluže kao osnova za formiranje luke koje na otoku tada nije bilo, prenosi Jutarnji.hr.

Ti su brodovi poslužili kao svojevrsni lukobrani kako bi od valova i vjetra zaštitili američke brodove s kojih su se iskrcavali vojnici, naoružanje i oprema.

Desetljećima kasnije seizmička aktivnost vulkana Mount Suribachi, koji se smatra jednim od najaktivnijih u Japanu, podigla je morsko dno, a samim time i brodove.

Na otoku danas nema stanovnika, ali su na njemu prisutne japanske oružane snage koje su tamo došle nakon što su Amerikanci 1968. vratili otok pod upravu Tokija.

- Čini se da vulkanska aktivnost još nije završila, postoji mogućnost velike erupcije na Iwo Jimi, poručio je za All Nippon News Setsuya Nakada, direktor državnog Centra za istraživanje vulkana.

Na Iwo Jimi je do sad zabilježeno najmanje 10 erupcija, a posljednja se dogodila 1982. godine. Sam otok se pak od 1952. godine zbog vulkanske aktivnosti izdigao za najmanje 10 metara, prema istraživanju Sveučilišta Oregon.

U bitci za Iwo Jimu, koja je trajala od 19. veljače do 26. ožujka 1945., poginulo je više od 7000 američkih vojnika i oko 18.000 japanskih (zarobljeno je samo 216 Japanaca, op.a.), a završila je američkim osvajanjem otoka. I dok se o strateškom značaju bitke i dalje vode rasprave, danas je najpoznatija po čuvenoj fotografiji američkih marinaca koji na vrhu Mount Suribachija uzdižu stijeg SAD-a.
