U borbi dvaju slovenskih Blaža za trofej na ATP Challengeru Split Open, pobjedu je odnio mlađi, Rola, koji je preko prijatelja Kavčiča došao do petog naslova karijere. Usprkos oblačnim, vjetrovitim i prohladnim uvjetima uz laganu kišu u završnici, dečki su odradili kvalitetno finale.

Na Središnjem terenu TC Firule šesti nositelj Rola do trijumfa je stigao rezultatom 2:6, 6:3, 6:2 za dva sata i 16 minuta igre. Kavčič je prvi set odradio besprijekorno, no kad se u pauzi između setova Rola vratio s "toilet breaka" zaigrao je puno odlučnije i agresivnije. Odmah se odvojio na 3:0 i tu prednost sačuvao do kraja seta, da bi u završnu dionicu ušao s "breakom". Kavčič se sve teže nosio s njegovim udarcima, pa mu je Rola još jednom oduzeo servis za vodstvo 5:2, no tu nije bio kraj neizvjesnosti. Uslijedio je najduži gem meča u kojem Kavčič nije realizirao tri "break" šanse, dok je Rola realizirao treću meč-loptu.

Prva je to pobjeda Role nad Kavčičem u četvrtom međusobnom dvoboju i svakako najvažnija. Njome je došao do petog naslova na Challenger turnirima, ali prvog na europskom tlu, nakon Guangzhoua 2014., Santosa 2015., Tallahasseeja 2017. i Leona 2019. godine.

- Miješani su mi osjećaji jer sam igrao protiv dobrog prijatelja s kojim svaki dan treniram. Šteta što je morao biti samo jedan pobjednik - rekao je poslije meča tridesetogodišnjak iz Ptuja okupljenim novinarima, čvrsto držeći pobjednički pehar.

Osvrnuo se na meč:

- Ne znam ni sam kako sam dobio! Ovi uvjeti više odgovaraju drugom Blažu, bilo je sporo i hladno. Prvi je set odigrao bez greške, a onda sam ja postao malo agresivniji. Šteta zbog korone jer sam siguran da bi tribine danas bile pune. Došli bi svi iz Slovenije koji navijaju za nas, ali svaka čast organizatoru. Znam da mu nije bilo lako u ovim vremenima.

S druge strane, četiri godine stariji Ljubljančanin Kavčič svih je oduševio svojom borbenošću i brojnim preokretima, zbog čega je zaslužio epitete maratonca i kralja trećih setova. Ipak, ovaj treći set u finalu nije uspio osvojiti. Ostao je bez goriva.

- Prvi set odradio sam bez greške, a onda sam se malo pogubio. Možda se nakupilo umora pa sam radio greške koje inače ne radim. Nakon prvog seta, drugi Blaž je počeo više napadati i na to nisam bio spreman. Pao sam u defenzivu, probao sam doći što bliže liniji, ali nisam uspijevao - komentirao je Kavčič čiji put do finala zaista vrijedi još jednom sažeti.

Dakle, u kvalifikacijama je protiv našeg Bože Baruna slavio nakon što je krenuo u meč s 0:4, a protiv Martineaua je okrenuo set minusa, pa je protiv Ymera u drugom kolu glavnog turnira nadoknadio set i "break" zaostatka, spasio dvije meč-lopte i onda okrenuo "break" minusa u trećem setu, pa je i protiv Vukića u četvrtfinalu i Žuka u polufinalu pobijedio nakon izgubljenog prvog seta. Iako sa 17 naslova spada među deset najboljih igrača na Challengerima svih vremena, na sljedeći će još malo morati pričekati.

Jedini koji je prije početka finala bio siguran kao pobjednik bio je trener Role i Kavčiča, također Blaž, Trupej. S ponosom je s tribina pratio meč, a kasnije se i fotografirao sa svojim pulenima koji su nedavno osvojili zadarski Challenger u parovima.

- Radimo zajedno od prošlog prosinca i ovaj finale dokaz je da radimo dobro - rekao je Rola, a Kavčič se nadovezao:

- Super se poznajemo i prijatelji smo i izvan terena. Skoro provodimo više vremena međusobno nego s našim suprugama, haha. Naporno treniramo i nadamo se da će biti još finala.

Roli je direktor turnira, Ismar Moralić, uručio pobjednički pehar, a pored toga pripast će mu i 6190 eura te 80 bodova. Kavčiču ide 3650 eura i 48 bodova. Što se stanja na ATP listi tiče, Rola bi sa 165. mjesta trebao skočiti na otprilike 147., dok Kavčiča čeka napredak s 238. na negdje 215. mjesto.

Rola nažalost neće braniti naslov sljedećeg tjedna jer ide na beogradski Challenger, a upitan je i nastup Kavčiča koji bi u prvom kolu trebao igrati s drugim nositeljem Marcom Polmansom.

- Moram popričati s trenerom. Imao sam nedavno problema s ozljedama pa moram biti oprezan, ne smijem glavom kroz zid. Moguće je da ne nastupim - zaključio je Kavčič.

U borbi dvaju slovenskih Blaža za trofej na ATP Challengeru Split Open, pobjedu je odnio mlađi, Rola, koji je preko prijatelja Kavčiča došao do petog naslova karijere. Usprkos oblačnim, vjetrovitim i prohladnim uvjetima uz laganu kišu u završnici, dečki su odradili kvalitetno finale.

Na Središnjem terenu TC Firule šesti nositelj Rola do trijumfa je stigao rezultatom 2:6, 6:3, 6:2 za dva sata i 16 minuta igre. Kavčič je prvi set odradio besprijekorno, no kad se u pauzi između setova Rola vratio s "toilet breaka" zaigrao je puno odlučnije i agresivnije. Odmah se odvojio na 3:0 i tu prednost sačuvao do kraja seta, da bi u završnu dionicu ušao s "breakom". Kavčič se sve teže nosio s njegovim udarcima, pa mu je Rola još jednom oduzeo servis za vodstvo 5:2, no tu nije bio kraj neizvjesnosti. Uslijedio je najduži gem meča u kojem Kavčič nije realizirao tri "break" šanse, dok je Rola realizirao treću meč-loptu.

Prva je to pobjeda Role nad Kavčičem u četvrtom međusobnom dvoboju i svakako najvažnija. Njome je došao do petog naslova na Challenger turnirima, ali prvog na europskom tlu, nakon Guangzhoua 2014., Santosa 2015., Tallahasseeja 2017. i Leona 2019. godine.

- Miješani su mi osjećaji jer sam igrao protiv dobrog prijatelja s kojim svaki dan treniram. Šteta što je morao biti samo jedan pobjednik - rekao je poslije meča tridesetogodišnjak iz Ptuja okupljenim novinarima, čvrsto držeći pobjednički pehar.

Osvrnuo se na meč:

- Ne znam ni sam kako sam dobio! Ovi uvjeti više odgovaraju drugom Blažu, bilo je sporo i hladno. Prvi je set odigrao bez greške, a onda sam ja postao malo agresivniji. Šteta zbog korone jer sam siguran da bi tribine danas bile pune. Došli bi svi iz Slovenije koji navijaju za nas, ali svaka čast organizatoru. Znam da mu nije bilo lako u ovim vremenima.

S druge strane, četiri godine stariji Ljubljančanin Kavčič svih je oduševio svojom borbenošću i brojnim preokretima, zbog čega je zaslužio epitete maratonca i kralja trećih setova. Ipak, ovaj treći set u finalu nije uspio osvojiti. Ostao je bez goriva.

- Prvi set odradio sam bez greške, a onda sam se malo pogubio. Možda se nakupilo umora pa sam radio greške koje inače ne radim. Nakon prvog seta, drugi Blaž je počeo više napadati i na to nisam bio spreman. Pao sam u defenzivu, probao sam doći što bliže liniji, ali nisam uspijevao - komentirao je Kavčič čiji put do finala zaista vrijedi još jednom sažeti.

Dakle, u kvalifikacijama je protiv našeg Bože Baruna slavio nakon što je krenuo u meč s 0:4, a protiv Martineaua je okrenuo set minusa, pa je protiv Ymera u drugom kolu glavnog turnira nadoknadio set i "break" zaostatka, spasio dvije meč-lopte i onda okrenuo "break" minusa u trećem setu, pa je i protiv Vukića u četvrtfinalu i Žuka u polufinalu pobijedio nakon izgubljenog prvog seta. Iako sa 17 naslova spada među deset najboljih igrača na Challengerima svih vremena, na sljedeći će još malo morati pričekati.

Jedini koji je prije početka finala bio siguran kao pobjednik bio je trener Role i Kavčiča, također Blaž, Trupej. S ponosom je s tribina pratio meč, a kasnije se i fotografirao sa svojim pulenima koji su nedavno osvojili zadarski Challenger u parovima.

- Radimo zajedno od prošlog prosinca i ovaj finale dokaz je da radimo dobro - rekao je Rola, a Kavčič se nadovezao:

- Super se poznajemo i prijatelji smo i izvan terena. Skoro provodimo više vremena međusobno nego s našim suprugama, haha. Naporno treniramo i nadamo se da će biti još finala.

Roli je direktor turnira, Ismar Moralić, uručio pobjednički pehar, a pored toga pripast će mu i 6190 eura te 80 bodova. Kavčiču ide 3650 eura i 48 bodova. Što se stanja na ATP listi tiče, Rola bi sa 165. mjesta trebao skočiti na otprilike 147., dok Kavčiča čeka napredak s 238. na negdje 215. mjesto.

Rola nažalost neće braniti naslov sljedećeg tjedna jer ide na beogradski Challenger, a upitan je i nastup Kavčiča koji bi u prvom kolu trebao igrati s drugim nositeljem Marcom Polmansom.

- Moram popričati s trenerom. Imao sam nedavno problema s ozljedama pa moram biti oprezan, ne smijem glavom kroz zid. Moguće je da ne nastupim - zaključio je Kavčič.

Prvi ATP Challenger Split Open otišao u ruke Blaža Role: Slovenac je u finalu bio bolji od svog imenjaka i sunarodnjaka Kavčića

U borbi dvaju slovenskih Blaža za trofej na ATP Challengeru Split Open, pobjedu je odnio mlađi, Rola, koji je preko prijatelja Kavčiča došao do petog naslova karijere. Usprkos oblačnim, vjetrovitim i prohladnim uvjetima uz laganu kišu u završnici, dečki su odradili kvalitetno finale.

Na Središnjem terenu TC Firule šesti nositelj Rola do trijumfa je stigao rezultatom 2:6, 6:3, 6:2 za dva sata i 16 minuta igre. Kavčič je prvi set odradio besprijekorno, no kad se u pauzi između setova Rola vratio s "toilet breaka" zaigrao je puno odlučnije i agresivnije. Odmah se odvojio na 3:0 i tu prednost sačuvao do kraja seta, da bi u završnu dionicu ušao s "breakom". Kavčič se sve teže nosio s njegovim udarcima, pa mu je Rola još jednom oduzeo servis za vodstvo 5:2, no tu nije bio kraj neizvje...
