Najmanje 14 ljudi je poginulo, a jedno je dijete teško ozlijeđeno u nedjelju kada je kabina žičare koja povezuje talijansko jezero Maggiore s obližnjim alpskim vrhom pala s dvadeset metara visine, objavili su spasioci i lokalne vlasti.

Žičara koja povezuje mjesto Stresu na jezeru Maggiore s obližnjim alpskim vrhuncem, prevozi turiste i lokalno stanovništvo do vrha planine Mottarone na gotovo 1500 metara nadmorske visine.

"Shrvani smo, u boli", rekla je Marcella Severino, gradonačelnica Strese za RAI. Nesreća se dogodila dok se žičara uspinjala po planini, a kabina pala s 20 metara visine i kotrljala se dok je nije zaustavilo stablo, rekla je Severino.

Planinari su čuli strašan prasak, dodala je i navela da je vjerojatni uzrok nesreće puknuće nosivog kabela.

Spasilačke službe objavile su da je dvoje teško ozlijeđene djece helikopterom prebačeno u bolnicu u Torino. Bolnica je kasnije priopćila da je starije od dvoje djece preminulo, dok je mlađe dijete, za koje se procjenjuje da ima oko pet godina, bilo pri svijesti prije nego je podvrgnuto operaciji zbog višestrukih ozljeda. 

Severino je televiziji SKY izjavila da su neke žrtve bile u kabini, a druge razbacane po šumi. Patolozi su počeli s identifikacijom žrtava, među kojima ima stranih državljana, rekla je Severino ne navodeći druge pojedinosti.

Luca Cari, glasnogovornik vatrogasaca, rekao je da se još uvijek ne zna koliko je ljudi bilo u kabini. "Naši timovi još izvlače tijela", izjavio je Cari.

Žičara Stresa-Mottarone tek je nedavno ponovno otvorena za domaće stanovnike i turiste nakon postupnog ukidanja 'lockdowna'.

Vrh Mottarone vrlo je popularan i omiljen među turistima zbog prekrasnog panoramskog pogleda na jezero Maggiore i na njegove živopisne otoke te zbog pogleda na Alpe.

Žičara je prvi put otvorena u kolovozu 1970. nakon trogodišnjih radova na zamjeni zupčaste željeznice. Vožnja do vrha traje 20 minuta.

Dvostruki kabelski sustav podijeljen je u dva dijela. Prvi se nalazi na nešto više od dva kilometra između Stresa i sela Alpina, a drugi tri kilometra između Alpina i Mottaronea.

Sastoji se od dviju kabina koje voze alternativnim smjerovima, a svaka kabina može primiti do 40 putnika. Severino je rekla da su u posljednjih nekoliko godina obavljeni redoviti radovi na održavanju žičare.

Najmanje 14 ljudi je poginulo, a jedno je dijete teško ozlijeđeno u nedjelju kada je kabina žičare koja povezuje talijansko jezero Maggiore s obližnjim alpskim vrhom pala s dvadeset metara visine, objavili su spasioci i lokalne vlasti.

Žičara koja povezuje mjesto Stresu na jezeru Maggiore s obližnjim alpskim vrhuncem, prevozi turiste i lokalno stanovništvo do vrha planine Mottarone na gotovo 1500 metara nadmorske visine.

"Shrvani smo, u boli", rekla je Marcella Severino, gradonačelnica Strese za RAI. Nesreća se dogodila dok se žičara uspinjala po planini, a kabina pala s 20 metara visine i kotrljala se dok je nije zaustavilo stablo, rekla je Severino.

Planinari su čuli strašan prasak, dodala je i navela da je vjerojatni uzrok nesreće puknuće nosivog kabela.

Spasilačke službe objavile su da je dvoje teško ozlijeđene djece helikopterom prebačeno u bolnicu u Torino. Bolnica je kasnije priopćila da je starije od dvoje djece preminulo, dok je mlađe dijete, za koje se procjenjuje da ima oko pet godina, bilo pri svijesti prije nego je podvrgnuto operaciji zbog višestrukih ozljeda. 

Severino je televiziji SKY izjavila da su neke žrtve bile u kabini, a druge razbacane po šumi. Patolozi su počeli s identifikacijom žrtava, među kojima ima stranih državljana, rekla je Severino ne navodeći druge pojedinosti.

Luca Cari, glasnogovornik vatrogasaca, rekao je da se još uvijek ne zna koliko je ljudi bilo u kabini. "Naši timovi još izvlače tijela", izjavio je Cari.

Žičara Stresa-Mottarone tek je nedavno ponovno otvorena za domaće stanovnike i turiste nakon postupnog ukidanja 'lockdowna'.

Vrh Mottarone vrlo je popularan i omiljen među turistima zbog prekrasnog panoramskog pogleda na jezero Maggiore i na njegove živopisne otoke te zbog pogleda na Alpe.

Žičara je prvi put otvorena u kolovozu 1970. nakon trogodišnjih radova na zamjeni zupčaste željeznice. Vožnja do vrha traje 20 minuta.

Dvostruki kabelski sustav podijeljen je u dva dijela. Prvi se nalazi na nešto više od dva kilometra između Stresa i sela Alpina, a drugi tri kilometra između Alpina i Mottaronea.

Sastoji se od dviju kabina koje voze alternativnim smjerovima, a svaka kabina može primiti do 40 putnika. Severino je rekla da su u posljednjih nekoliko godina obavljeni redoviti radovi na održavanju žičare.

Najmanje 14 ljudi je poginulo, a jedno je dijete teško ozlijeđeno u nedjelju kada je kabina žičare koja povezuje talijansko jezero Maggiore s obližnjim alpskim vrhom pala s dvadeset metara visine, objavili su spasioci i lokalne vlasti.

Žičara koja povezuje mjesto Stresu na jezeru Maggiore s obližnjim alpskim vrhuncem, prevozi turiste i lokalno stanovništvo do vrha planine Mottarone na gotovo 1500 metara nadmorske visine.

"Shrvani smo, u boli", rekla je Marcella Severino, gradonačelnica Strese za RAI. Nesreća se dogodila dok se žičara uspinjala po planini, a kabina pala s 20 metara visine i kotrljala se dok je nije zaustavilo stablo, rekla je Severino.

Planinari su čuli strašan prasak, dodala je i navela da je vjerojatni uzrok nesreće puknuće nosivog kabela.
