Prosvjedi tisuća Palestinaca na ograđenoj granici područja Gaze potaknuli su u petak žestoku reakciju izraelske vojske. Jedan Palestinac pogođen je izravno u lice sa spremnikom suzavca, pri čemu je dim sukljao iz njegovih usta, a krv se rasprskala po odjeći, što je zabilježeno na fotografiji novinske agencije Reuters, a prenosi i Daily Mail, a javlja Jutarnji.

Izraelski vojnici počeli su ispaljivali spremnike plina po prosvjednicima (između ostalog i iz dronova!) kad su Palestinci počeli paliti gume i puštati zmajeve preko granične ograde s ciljem da potpale polja židovskih doseljenika koji su naselili područja odakle su Palestinci 1948. potjerani u Gazu.

Prosvjednici traže 'pravo na povratak' potomaka palestinskih izbjeglica na područje koje sada drži Izrael.

Današnji prosvjed poklopio se s 'Danom Jeruzalema' kojim Iran prosvjeduje protiv izraelske vladavine svetim gradom. Duž granice s Gazom već mjesecima traju prosvjedi s zahtjevom okončanja egipatske i izraelske blokade Gaze, te protiv otvaranja američkog veleposlanstva u Jeruzalemu.

Izraelski vojnici poubijali su najmanje 115 palestinskih prosvjednika, većinom nenaoružanih, te ranili oko 3.800 ljudi otkad su započeli prosvjedi krajem ožujka.
