WWF, svjetska organizacija za zaštitu prirode, provela je krajem rujna na Lastovu akciju čišćenja podmorja od najsmrtonosnijeg oblika plastičnog zagađenja - fantomskog ribolovnog alata.

U nekoliko dana iz mora je izvađena tona odbačenog pribora za ribolov, ali i nakon tog hvalevrijednog pothvata, Jadransko more ostaje "preplavljeno" plastičnim otpadom.

Svake godine u morima završi oko milijun tona fantomskih ribolovnih alata, koji čine čak 50 posto ukupnog otpada ispod površine. Time naše Jadransko more, kao dio Sredozemnog mora koje glasi kao jedno od najzagađenijih na svijetu, postaje grobljem plastike, upozoravaju iz organizacije.

Fabijan Peronja iz WWF Adrije objašnjava kako fantomski ribolovni alati ubijaju život u moru i štete svima nama jer se ne uspiju razgraditi ni kroz šesto godina.

- Nakon što ih ribari izgube, fantomski ribolovni alati još desecima godina imaju svoju lovnu funkciju. Ribe, rakovi, dupini, morske kornjače i ostali morski organizmi se zapliću u mreže, iz kojih teško mogu izaći i umiru u mukama. Velik je problem i sa samim mrežama: kad se razgrade, one ne nestaju, nego se pretvaraju u mikroplastiku koja kroz hranu, zrak ili vodu završi u našim organizmima - rekao je Peronja.

Osim morskim bićima koja u njima stradavaju, napuštene mreže rade veliku štetu i ribarima. Radi se o priličnom financijskom izdatku, jer jedna mreža od dvjestotinjak metara stoji minimalno 3500 kuna. Dodatni je problem to što napušteni ribolovni alat može oštetiti nove mreže, kao i smanjiti ulov ribara zbog lovne funkcije koju i dalje imaju, poručuju iz WWF.

- Suradnja ribara i ronioca je iznimno važna jer omogućuje vađenje mreže iz mora brzo nakon što se izgubi. Međutim takav način rada nije isplativ zbog troška zarona koji je, ovisno o dubini mora i lokaciji, gotovo izjednačen s troškom nove mreže“, objašnjava Peronja i dodaje da je na Lastovu mapirano čak 30 različitih lokacija zagađenih fantomskim ribolovnim alatima, od kojih su 23 lokacije uspješno očišćene od gotovo tone ribolovnih alata. „Posao nije ni približno završen jer takvog najsmrtonosnijeg oblika plastičnog zagađenja ima svugdje i trebali bismo pronaći model suradnje za čišćenje ostalih lokacija te pronaći način kako to raditi redovito. Vjerujemo da bi nam poslovni sektor mogao pomoći ostvariti takvu suradnju te sudjelovati u zaštiti prirode na način koji je pozitivan i za stanje mora i za ljude koji o njemu ovise - zaključuje Peronja.

WWF je akciju čišćenja lastovskog podmorja proveo kroz svoj projekt „Ghost gear“, a u suradnji s lastovskim ronilačkim centrima Ankora i Ronilački raj te zagrebačkim ronilačkim klubom DPS Zagreb. Napuštene mreže, vrše i drugi zaboravljeni ribolovni alati imaju značajne ekološke, ekonomske i društvene posljedice za morske organizme, ribare, sve one koji žive od mora, ali i svakoga od nas.

WWF, svjetska organizacija za zaštitu prirode, provela je krajem rujna na Lastovu akciju čišćenja podmorja od najsmrtonosnijeg oblika plastičnog zagađenja - fantomskog ribolovnog alata.

U nekoliko dana iz mora je izvađena tona odbačenog pribora za ribolov, ali i nakon tog hvalevrijednog pothvata, Jadransko more ostaje "preplavljeno" plastičnim otpadom.

Svake godine u morima završi oko milijun tona fantomskih ribolovnih alata, koji čine čak 50 posto ukupnog otpada ispod površine. Time naše Jadransko more, kao dio Sredozemnog mora koje glasi kao jedno od najzagađenijih na svijetu, postaje grobljem plastike, upozoravaju iz organizacije.

Fabijan Peronja iz WWF Adrije objašnjava kako fantomski ribolovni alati ubijaju život u moru i štete svima nama jer se ne uspiju razgraditi ni kroz šesto godina.

- Nakon što ih ribari izgube, fantomski ribolovni alati još desecima godina imaju svoju lovnu funkciju. Ribe, rakovi, dupini, morske kornjače i ostali morski organizmi se zapliću u mreže, iz kojih teško mogu izaći i umiru u mukama. Velik je problem i sa samim mrežama: kad se razgrade, one ne nestaju, nego se pretvaraju u mikroplastiku koja kroz hranu, zrak ili vodu završi u našim organizmima - rekao je Peronja.

Osim morskim bićima koja u njima stradavaju, napuštene mreže rade veliku štetu i ribarima. Radi se o priličnom financijskom izdatku, jer jedna mreža od dvjestotinjak metara stoji minimalno 3500 kuna. Dodatni je problem to što napušteni ribolovni alat može oštetiti nove mreže, kao i smanjiti ulov ribara zbog lovne funkcije koju i dalje imaju, poručuju iz WWF.

- Suradnja ribara i ronioca je iznimno važna jer omogućuje vađenje mreže iz mora brzo nakon što se izgubi. Međutim takav način rada nije isplativ zbog troška zarona koji je, ovisno o dubini mora i lokaciji, gotovo izjednačen s troškom nove mreže“, objašnjava Peronja i dodaje da je na Lastovu mapirano čak 30 različitih lokacija zagađenih fantomskim ribolovnim alatima, od kojih su 23 lokacije uspješno očišćene od gotovo tone ribolovnih alata. „Posao nije ni približno završen jer takvog najsmrtonosnijeg oblika plastičnog zagađenja ima svugdje i trebali bismo pronaći model suradnje za čišćenje ostalih lokacija te pronaći način kako to raditi redovito. WWF je akciju čišćenja lastovskog podmorja proveo kroz svoj projekt „Ghost gear“, a u suradnji s lastovskim ronilačkim centrima Ankora i Ronilački raj te zagrebačkim ronilačkim klubom DPS Zagreb. Napuštene mreže, vrše i drugi zaboravljeni ribolovni alati imaju značajne ekološke, ekonomske i društvene posljedice za morske organizme, ribare, sve one koji žive od mora, ali i svakoga od nas.

WWF, svjetska organizacija za zaštitu prirode, provela je krajem rujna na Lastovu akciju čišćenja podmorja od najsmrtonosnijeg oblika plastičnog zagađenja - fantomskog ribolovnog alata.

U nekoliko dana iz mora je izvađena tona odbačenog pribora za ribolov, ali i nakon tog hvalevrijednog pothvata, Jadransko more ostaje "preplavljeno" plastičnim otpadom.

Osim morskim bićima koja u njima stradavaju, napuštene mreže rade veliku štetu i ribarima. Radi se o priličnom financijskom izdatku, jer jedna mreža od dvjestotinjak metara stoji minimalno 3500 kuna. Dodatni je problem to što napušteni ribolovni alat može oštetiti nove mreže, kao i smanjiti ulov ribara zbog lovne funkcije koju i dalje imaju, poručuju iz WWF.
