Smijeh kroz suze mi je najdraža emocija. Priznanje jednog ženskog lika zrcalo je filma “Čelične magnolije” (“Steel Magnolias”, 1989.). Ovo je jedan od najpoznatijih primjeraka američke dramedije, filma koji se odvija na granici drame i komedije. Osamdesete su započele s dramedijom “Vrijeme nježnosti” Jamesa L. Brooksa, a završile s “Čeličnim magnolijama” hollywoodskog veterana Herberta Rossa (“Djevojka za zbogom, “Footloose”, “Tajna mog uspjeha”).

Filmove povezuje kombinacija smijeha i krokodilskih suza, legendarna glumica Shirley MacLaine (“Apartman”) koja je za ulogu u “Terms Of Endearment” osvojila Oscara, ali i fokus na snažne ženske likove, pri čemu se temeljnim ponovno pokazuje odnos majke i kćeri.

MacLaine je prepustila ulogu majke dvostrukoj oskarovki Sally Field (“Norma Rae”, “Mjesta u srcu”), a kćerka je ovaj put Julia Roberts i bila je ovjenčana Oscar nominacijom u kategoriji sporedne ženske uloge, nakon čega je postala zvjezdana “Zgodna žena”.

Ispred Rossove kamere našle su se same zvijezde ili oskarovke, uključimo li još i popularnu glazbenicu Dolly Parton, Daryl Hannah (“Istrebljivač”, “Morska sirena u New Yorku”) i Olympiju Dukakis, tada friško pozlaćenu Oscarom za “Opčinjenu Mjesecom”, a u maloj ulozi nastupa i Janine Turner, godinu prije nego što će se proslaviti “Životom na sjeveru”.

Šest glumica, šest čeličnih magnolija. Ženski likovi filma su možda krhki izvana, ali snažni su iznutra, spremni nositi se zajednički s tragedijom/smrti kad neminovno pokuca na vrata kao sastavni dio života. “Steel Magnolias” nema neki konkretan zaplet.

Pratimo nekoliko sezona u životima južnjačkih žena iz Louisiane, mlade nevjeste Shelby i njezine majke M’Lynn (Roberts, Field), vlasnice frizerskog-kozmetičkog salona Truvy i njezine nove pripravnice Annelle (Parton, Hannah), te dviju udovica, sarkastične Clairee i čangrizave bogatunke Ouiser (Dukakis, MacLaine).

One su iznimno povezane i često se nalaze u frizerskom salonu, gdje vole razgovarati i tračati, ali i tješiti i (za)grliti jedna drugu dok se hvataju u koštac sa svakodnevicom. Muškarci borave na rubu kadra, kao npr. Shelbyn tata (Tom Skerritt) i suprug (Dylan McDermott), Truvyn muž (Sam Shepard) i Annellein odabranik (Kevin J. O’Connor), a u predstavi južnjačkog dramatičara Roberta Harlinga, prema kojoj je nastao film, nije ih uopće ni bilo.

Kazališno podrijetlo “Čeličnih magnolija” vidljivo je u prvoj sekvenciji, kad ženski likovi/glumice ulaze u scenu i izlaze iz nje, kao na pozornici. No, vidljivo je i da je Ross stvorio dinamičnu mizanscenu i da prilično suvereno vodi veliki broj likova i daje im dobre dijaloge ili trenutke.

“Kad je riječ o boli i patnji, ona je odmah uz Elizabeth Taylor”, kaže Truvy. “Nisam luda, samo sam loše volje 40 godina”, opisuje sebe Ouiser. “Radije bih imala trideset minuta predivnog, nego cijeli život bez ničega posebnog”, veli Shelby čije su boje “rumenilo i sramežljivost”.

Dogodi se tu i tamo neka “povišena” oskarovska scena, tipa kad je Field u kadru, no “Steel Magnolias” zna i djelovati spontano i prirodno u dramskim, pa čak komičnim momentama, hvatajući iznenadna prenuća M’Lynn na pucanje njezinog supruga dok mecima tjera ptičurine u prizorima koji mogu podsjetiti na scenu s petardama u “Kralju pornića”.

Određena doza sentimentalne “hallmarkovske” manipulativnosti opstoji u “Čeličnim magnolijama”, ali daleko od toga da nema dirljive iskrenosti i nježnosti. Harling je napisao kazališni komad nakon smrti sestre, kao sredstvo za liječenje vlastitih rana i odavanje počasti seki i drugim južnjačkim ženama uz koje je odrastao.

Sve to se osjeti u ultimativno(m) feminističkom filmu o ženskom prijateljstvu i sestrinstvu, ali i majčinstvu, pa i prolaznosti života sa svim godišnjim dobima. Radnja počinje za Uskrs, nakon čega se likovima vraća oko Božića i Nove godine, onda opet za Dan nezavisnosti i Noć vještica, da bi završila s Uskrsom. M’Lynn kostantira “Život ide dalje”. Tako to i biva zapravo. Iako bismo ponekad htjeli da stane, život ide dalje sa suncima i kišama koji donose smijeh i suze. A ponekad i smijeh kroz suze.

Jubilarno deseto izdanje manifestacije u čast Dana žena

"Čelične magnolije" imale su premijeru 5. studenog 1989. godine, a prikazuju se u sklopu jubilarnog, desetog izdanja "Ženijalnih dana", manifestacije kojom se filmski obilježava Dan žena. Program je raspoređen u čak 30 nezavisnih hrvatskih kina, poput splitske “Kinoteke”, a na repertoaru su i "Ekskurzija" Une Gunjak te dokumentarac "Voljeti Patriciju Highsmith".

Smijeh kroz suze mi je najdraža emocija. Priznanje jednog ženskog lika zrcalo je filma “Čelične magnolije” (“Steel Magnolias”, 1989.). Ovo je jedan od najpoznatijih primjeraka američke dramedije, filma koji se odvija na granici drame i komedije. Osamdesete su započele s dramedijom “Vrijeme nježnosti” Jamesa L. Brooksa, a završile s “Čeličnim magnolijama” hollywoodskog veterana Herberta Rossa (“Djevojka za zbogom, “Footloose”, “Tajna mog uspjeha”).

Filmove povezuje kombinacija smijeha i krokodilskih suza, legendarna glumica Shirley MacLaine (“Apartman”) koja je za ulogu u “Terms Of Endearment” osvojila Oscara, ali i fokus na snažne ženske likove, pri čemu se temeljnim ponovno pokazuje odnos majke i kćeri.

MacLaine je prepustila ulogu majke dvostrukoj oskarovki Sally Field (“Norma Rae”, “Mjesta u srcu”), a kćerka je ovaj put Julia Roberts i bila je ovjenčana Oscar nominacijom u kategoriji sporedne ženske uloge, nakon čega je postala zvjezdana “Zgodna žena”.

Ispred Rossove kamere našle su se same zvijezde ili oskarovke, uključimo li još i popularnu glazbenicu Dolly Parton, Daryl Hannah (“Istrebljivač”, “Morska sirena u New Yorku”) i Olympiju Dukakis, tada friško pozlaćenu Oscarom za “Opčinjenu Mjesecom”, a u maloj ulozi nastupa i Janine Turner, godinu prije nego što će se proslaviti “Životom na sjeveru”.

Šest glumica, šest čeličnih magnolija. Ženski likovi filma su možda krhki izvana, ali snažni su iznutra, spremni nositi se zajednički s tragedijom/smrti kad neminovno pokuca na vrata kao sastavni dio života. “Steel Magnolias” nema neki konkretan zaplet.

Pratimo nekoliko sezona u životima južnjačkih žena iz Louisiane, mlade nevjeste Shelby i njezine majke M’Lynn (Roberts, Field), vlasnice frizerskog-kozmetičkog salona Truvy i njezine nove pripravnice Annelle (Parton, Hannah), te dviju udovica, sarkastične Clairee i čangrizave bogatunke Ouiser (Dukakis, MacLaine).

One su iznimno povezane i često se nalaze u frizerskom salonu, gdje vole razgovarati i tračati, ali i tješiti i (za)grliti jedna drugu dok se hvataju u koštac sa svakodnevicom. Muškarci borave na rubu kadra, kao npr. Shelbyn tata (Tom Skerritt) i suprug (Dylan McDermott), Truvyn muž (Sam Shepard) i Annellein odabranik (Kevin J. Kazališno podrijetlo “Čeličnih magnolija” vidljivo je u prvoj sekvenciji, kad ženski likovi/glumice ulaze u scenu i izlaze iz nje, kao na pozornici. No, vidljivo je i da je Ross stvorio dinamičnu mizanscenu i da prilično suvereno vodi veliki broj likova i daje im dobre dijaloge ili trenutke.

“Kad je riječ o boli i patnji, ona je odmah uz Elizabeth Taylor”, kaže Truvy. “Nisam luda, samo sam loše volje 40 godina”, opisuje sebe Ouiser. “Radije bih imala trideset minuta predivnog, nego cijeli život bez ničega posebnog”, veli Shelby čije su boje “rumenilo i sramežljivost”.

Dogodi se tu i tamo neka “povišena” oskarovska scena, tipa kad je Field u kadru, no “Steel Magnolias” zna i djelovati spontano i prirodno u dramskim, pa čak komičnim momentama, hvatajući iznenadna prenuća M’Lynn na pucanje njezinog supruga dok mecima tjera ptičurine u prizorima koji mogu podsjetiti na scenu s petardama u “Kralju pornića”.

Određena doza sentimentalne “hallmarkovske” manipulativnosti opstoji u “Čeličnim magnolijama”, ali daleko od toga da nema dirljive iskrenosti i nježnosti. Harling je napisao kazališni komad nakon smrti sestre, kao sredstvo za liječenje vlastitih rana i odavanje počasti seki i drugim južnjačkim ženama uz koje je odrastao.

Sve to se osjeti u ultimativno(m) feminističkom filmu o ženskom prijateljstvu i sestrinstvu, ali i majčinstvu, pa i prolaznosti života sa svim godišnjim dobima. Radnja počinje za Uskrs, nakon čega se likovima vraća oko Božića i Nove godine, onda opet za Dan nezavisnosti i Noć vještica, da bi završila s Uskrsom. M’Lynn kostantira “Život ide dalje”. Tako to i biva zapravo. Iako bismo ponekad htjeli da stane, život ide dalje sa suncima i kišama koji donose smijeh i suze. A ponekad i smijeh kroz suze.

Jubilarno deseto izdanje manifestacije u čast Dana žena

"Čelične magnolije" imale su premijeru 5. studenog 1989. godine, a prikazuju se u sklopu jubilarnog, desetog izdanja "Ženijalnih dana", manifestacije kojom se filmski obilježava Dan žena. Program je raspoređen u čak 30 nezavisnih hrvatskih kina, poput splitske “Kinoteke”, a na repertoaru su i "Ekskurzija" Une Gunjak te dokumentarac "Voljeti Patriciju Highsmith".

‘Čelične magnolije‘: Vrijeme ženijalnosti

Smijeh kroz suze mi je najdraža emocija. Priznanje jednog ženskog lika zrcalo je filma “Čelične magnolije” (“Steel Magnolias”, 1989.). Ovo je jedan od najpoznatijih primjeraka američke dramedije, filma koji se odvija na granici drame i komedije. Osamdesete su započele s dramedijom “Vrijeme nježnosti” Jamesa L. Brooksa, a završile s “Čeličnim magnolijama” hollywoodskog veterana Herberta Rossa (“Djevojka za zbogom, “Footloose”, “Tajna mog uspjeha”).

Filmove povezuje kombinacija smijeha i krokodilskih suza, legendarna glumica Shirley MacLaine (“Apartman”) koja je za ulogu u “Terms Of Endearment” osvojila Oscara, ali i fokus na snažne ženske likove, pri čemu se temeljnim ponovno pokazuje odnos majke i kćeri.

MacLaine je prepustila ulogu majke dvostrukoj oskarovki Sally Field (“Norma Rae”, “Mjesta u srcu”), a kćerka je ovaj put Julia Roberts i bila je ovjenčana Oscar nominacijom u kategoriji sporedne ženske uloge, nakon čega je postala zvjezdana “Zgodna žena”.

Ispred Rossove kamere našle su se same zvijezde ili oskarovke, uključimo li još i popularnu glazbenicu Dolly Parton, Daryl Hannah (“Istrebljivač”, “Morska sirena u New Yorku”) i Olympiju Dukakis, tada friško pozlaćenu Oscarom za “Opčinjenu Mjesecom”, a u maloj ulozi nastupa i Janine Turner, godinu prije nego što će se proslaviti “Životom na sjeveru”.

Šest glumica, šest čeličnih magnolija. Ženski likovi filma su možda krhki izvana, ali snažni su iznutra, spremni nositi se zajednički s tragedijom/smrti kad neminovno pokuca na vrata kao sastavni dio života. “Steel Magnolias” nema neki konkretan zaplet.

Pratimo nekoliko sezona u životima južnjačkih žena iz Louisiane, mlade nevjeste Shelby i njezine majke M’Lynn (Roberts, Field), vlasnice frizerskog-kozmetičkog salona Truvy i njezine nove pripravnice Annelle (Parton, Hannah), te dviju udovica, sarkastične Clairee i čangrizave bogatunke Ouiser (Dukakis, MacLaine).

One su iznimno povezane i često se nalaze u frizerskom salonu, gdje vole razgovarati i tračati, ali i tješiti i (za)grliti jedna drugu dok se hvataju u koštac sa svakodnevicom. Muškarci borave na rubu kadra, kao npr. Shelbyn tata (Tom Skerritt) i suprug (Dylan McDermott), Truvyn muž (Sam Shepard) i Annellein odabranik (Kevin J. O’Connor), a u predstavi južnjačkog dramatičara Roberta Harlinga, prema kojoj je nastao film, nije ih uopće ni bilo.
