Čest je slučaj i da Akademija precijeni neke filmove, glumce ili filmaše, poklanjajući im nominaciju nauštrb zaslužnijih nominenata. Članovi Akademije znaju potpasti pod kolektivni utjecaj drugih kolega i strukovnih nagrada pa se neke nominacije čine dane po “defaultu”, posebice kad pojedini film(aš) uhvati momentum. To je ove godine najočitije na primjeru popularne “Barbie”, od koje može početi lista top-pet nominenata koje su Oscari 2024. malčice precijenili.

‘Barbie‘

Donedavno se jedan ovakav film ne bi ni približio Oscaru, kamoli da se natječe u glavnoj kategoriji. Megahit Grete Gerwig snimljen je pod velikim utjecajem “Posljednjeg akcijskog junaka”, “Trumanova showa” i “Pleasantvillea”, redom superiornijih klasika devedesetih koji, ilustracije radi, nisu bili nominirani za najbolji film. “Barbie” jest, no to nekima nije dovoljno. Nakon objave nominacija, izbio je omanji skandal što “Barbie” nije nominirana za režiju Gerwig i glavnu žensku ulogu Margot Robbie, iako su se obje našle među nominentima u kategoriji najboljeg adaptiranog scenarija i filma (prva ga je napisala, druga producirala). Osjetilo se i razočaranje što “Barbie” ukupno ima samo osam nominacija. Samo osam? Dobro je dobila i toliko. “Barbie” nije loša, ali nije ni tako dobra, svakako ne za Oscara.

Colman Domingo i Sterling K. Brown

Nema sumnje, Colman Domingo i Sterling K. Brown su kvalitetni afroamerički glumci i bilo je pitanje vremena kad će dobiti nominaciju za Oscara. Nominacija je stigla ove godine na račun filmova “Rustin” i “American Fiction”. Brown i posebice Domingo na priličnoj su visini zadatka u “Američkoj fikciji” i “Rustinu”, ali jesu li njihove uloge baš toliko ekstraordinarne i vrijedne nominacije, posebice u konkurenciji s jednim Andrewom Scottom (“Stranci”) i Anthonyjem Hopkinsom (“Jedan život”) ili Willemom Dafoeom (“Uboga stvorenja”)? Stječe se dojam da je više presudila trendovska politička korektnost i potreba za diverzitetom. Domingo glumi Bayarda Rustina, akivista iz Martin Luther Kingove sjene koji je jedan od organizatora Marša na Washington i bitna figura pokreta za građanska prava, a k tome je i naglašeno gay, baš kao Brownov razvedeni kirurg i brat protagonista filma “American Fiction”.

America Ferrera

Nominacija za sporednu žensku ulogu u “Barbie” iznenadila je i samu glumicu Americu Ferreru ili je barem ona tako kazala. Doista, bilo je to veliko iznenađenje, tim veće kad znamo koje sve glumice nisu dobile nominaciju u toj kategoriji (Penelope Cruz, Claire Foy, Vanessa Kirby...). No, Ferrerina izjava da će kao nominentica ponosno predstavljati Latine na ovogodišnjoj dodjeli Oscara sugerira da je i tu presudio diktat raznolikosti više od same uloge, kao i feministički diskurs “Barbie”. Ferrera je više no okej u filmu, da se razumijemo, ali nije to neka mala-velika uloga, ne računajući uistinu upečatljivo izgovoreni monolog u čast svih žena koji se u međuvremenu naveliko citira među pripadnicama nježnijeg spola svih generacija.

‘Nimona‘ i ‘Elementi‘

Jasno nam je da Akademija nije nominirala posljednji Disneyjev film “Želja”, ali mogla je izostaviti i barem jedan od ova dva crtića s logom Netflixa i Pixara koji nisu puno bolji od njega i djeluju kao uljezi u kategoriji dugometražnog animiranog filma. “Nimona” i “Elemental” su vrlo solidni, no ipak nisu najviši animirani rang, posebice ne potonji za pojam Pixarove animacije. Ako je Akademija htjela nešto od Netflixa, mogla je prije nominirati nastavak “Pobune u kokošinjcu”. Izvorni “Chicken Run” imao je tu nesreću da je izišao koju godinu prije nego što je 2002. kategorija dugometražnog animiranog filma uspostavljena, a nastavak je, eto, ignoniran. “Elementi” su, pak, zauzeli mjesto “Nindža kornjačama”, koje su nakon “Godzille” (vizualni efekti), mogle postati drugi ovogodišnji ikonički popkulturni likovi s prvom nominacijom za Oscar u povijesti.

Čest je slučaj i da Akademija precijeni neke filmove, glumce ili filmaše, poklanjajući im nominaciju nauštrb zaslužnijih nominenata. Članovi Akademije znaju potpasti pod kolektivni utjecaj drugih kolega i strukovnih nagrada pa se neke nominacije čine dane po “defaultu”, posebice kad pojedini film(aš) uhvati momentum. To je ove godine najočitije na primjeru popularne “Barbie”, od koje može početi lista top-pet nominenata koje su Oscari 2024. malčice precijenili.

‘Barbie‘

Donedavno se jedan ovakav film ne bi ni približio Oscaru, kamoli da se natječe u glavnoj kategoriji. Megahit Grete Gerwig snimljen je pod velikim utjecajem “Posljednjeg akcijskog junaka”, “Trumanova showa” i “Pleasantvillea”, redom superiornijih klasika devedesetih koji, ilustracije radi, nisu bili nominirani za najbolji film. “Barbie” jest, no to nekima nije dovoljno. Nakon objave nominacija, izbio je omanji skandal što “Barbie” nije nominirana za režiju Gerwig i glavnu žensku ulogu Margot Robbie, iako su se obje našle među nominentima u kategoriji najboljeg adaptiranog scenarija i filma (prva ga je napisala, druga producirala). Osjetilo se i razočaranje što “Barbie” ukupno ima samo osam nominacija. Samo osam? Dobro je dobila i toliko. “Barbie” nije loša, ali nije ni tako dobra, svakako ne za Oscara.

Colman Domingo i Sterling K. Brown

Nema sumnje, Colman Domingo i Sterling K. Brown su kvalitetni afroamerički glumci i bilo je pitanje vremena kad će dobiti nominaciju za Oscara. Nominacija je stigla ove godine na račun filmova “Rustin” i “American Fiction”. Brown i posebice Domingo na priličnoj su visini zadatka u “Američkoj fikciji” i “Rustinu”, ali jesu li njihove uloge baš toliko ekstraordinarne i vrijedne nominacije, posebice u konkurenciji s jednim Andrewom Scottom (“Stranci”) i Anthonyjem Hopkinsom (“Jedan život”) ili Willemom Dafoeom (“Uboga stvorenja”)? Stječe se dojam da je više presudila trendovska politička korektnost i potreba za diverzitetom. Domingo glumi Bayarda Rustina, akivista iz Martin Luther Kingove sjene koji je jedan od organizatora Marša na Washington i bitna figura pokreta za građanska prava, a k tome je i naglašeno gay, baš kao Brownov razvedeni kirurg i brat protagonista filma “American Fiction”.

America Ferrera

Nominacija za sporednu žensku ulogu u “Barbie” iznenadila je i samu glumicu Americu Ferreru ili je barem ona tako kazala. Doista, bilo je to veliko iznenađenje, tim veće kad znamo koje sve glumice nisu dobile nominaciju u toj kategoriji (Penelope Cruz, Claire Foy, Vanessa Kirby...). No, Ferrerina izjava da će kao nominentica ponosno predstavljati Latine na ovogodišnjoj dodjeli Oscara sugerira da je i tu presudio diktat raznolikosti više od same uloge, kao i feministički diskurs “Barbie”. Ferrera je više no okej u filmu, da se razumijemo, ali nije to neka mala-velika uloga, ne računajući uistinu upečatljivo izgovoreni monolog u čast svih žena koji se u međuvremenu naveliko citira među pripadnicama nježnijeg spola svih generacija.

‘Nimona‘ i ‘Elementi‘

Jasno nam je da Akademija nije nominirala posljednji Disneyjev film “Želja”, ali mogla je izostaviti i barem jedan od ova dva crtića s logom Netflixa i Pixara koji nisu puno bolji od njega i djeluju kao uljezi u kategoriji dugometražnog animiranog filma. “Nimona” i “Elemental” su vrlo solidni, no ipak nisu najviši animirani rang, posebice ne potonji za pojam Pixarove animacije. Ako je Akademija htjela nešto od Netflixa, mogla je prije nominirati nastavak “Pobune u kokošinjcu”. Izvorni “Chicken Run” imao je tu nesreću da je izišao koju godinu prije nego što je 2002. kategorija dugometražnog animiranog filma uspostavljena, a nastavak je, eto, ignoniran. “Elementi” su, pak, zauzeli mjesto “Nindža kornjačama”, koje su nakon “Godzille” (vizualni efekti), mogle postati drugi ovogodišnji ikonički popkulturni likovi s prvom nominacijom za Oscar u povijesti.
