Profesor i maturantica počinju osjećati uzajamnu atrakciju u filmu "Millerova djevojka" ("Miller‘s Girl"), krivo žanriranom na popularnom IMDb-u. Prema IMDb-u ovo je "comedy, drama". Kao da je IMDb-ov algoritam pobrkao "Millerovu djevojku" i "Fatalnu studenticu" iz 2012. s Elizabeth Olsen i Joshom Radnerom koja je, unatoč erotsko-trilerskom hrvatskom naslovu, bila mješavina romantične komedije i drame.

Elementi drame prisutni su u "Millerovoj djevojci", prilično solidnom i razmjerno provokativnom prvijencu redateljice i scenaristice Jade Halley Bartlett, premijerno prikazanom na Palm Springs festivalu. No, film se postavlja kao triler, i to onaj erotske vrste, svojevrsni spoj Sidneyja Sheldona i serijala "Otrovna Ivy" s Drew Barrymore i Alyssom Milano, samo sofisticiraniji i provokativniji od uzora zahvaljujući načitanim likovima i njihovom zabranjenom odnosu u #MeToo svijetu.

"Sve djevojke čeznu da budu voljene, književnost je moja utjeha u samoći", govori usamljena Cairo Sweet (popularna Jenna Ortega; serija "Wednesday", "X", nastavci "Vriska"), pripovijedajući zbivanja.

Iako Cairo ističe da je "potpuno obična", tu tvrdnju pobija njezino "lolitovsko" (prez)ime, sklonost seksi odijevanju, kao i ljubav prema knjigama i pisanju. Cairo živi sama u golemoj kući u malom gradu u Tennesseeju koji nije nikad napustila, za razliku od njezinih odsutnih globtroterskih roditelja odvjetnika, razbijajući dosadu čitanjem i druženjem s vragolastom prijateljicom Winnie (Gideon Adlon; "Neće moći ove noći", "Mustang", nove "Opasne čini").

Redateljica Bartlett uspostavlja južnjačku gotičku atmosferu kakva odgovara mladoj zvijezdi Ortegi ("Wednesday") dok ona razotkriva svoju zavodljivu stranu. Kad Cairo upozna sredovječnog profesora književnosti Jonathana Millera (Martin Freeman; "Hobit 1-3", serija "Sherlock", "Operativka"), njih dvoje "kliknu" kao ljubitelji literature i istinski "vide" jedno drugo.

Ona u njemu vidi uzor, iako je objavio jedan neuspješan roman i okrenuo se predavanju, što mu spočitava supruga Beatrice (Dagmara Dominczyk) dok paradira po stanu u donjem rublju i piše na kompjuteru pijuckajući usput vino. On u njoj vidi nekoga tko bi uz njegovo mentorstvo mogao postići ono što sam nije.

Dinamika među likovima je fino formirana i flert može početi, samo što odlazi dalje od Winnieina flertiranja s profesorom tjelesnog Fillmoreom (Bashir Salahuddin; "Top Gun 2"), a zaplet će kulminirati kad Miller zada učenici da napiše kratku priču u stilu njezina omiljenog autora.

Ni pet ni šest, Cairo iz provokatorskih pobuda odabere kontroverznog Henryja Millera koji je zabranjen u školama zbog pornografije, a povrh toga njezina kratka priča tiče se afere profesora i učenice kakvu očito mašta da će doživjeti s Millerom. "Ovo je neprikladno, pornografija, nađi drugog autora", govori Miller. "Rekao si ‘napiši ono što znaš‘...", podsjeća ga Cairo.

Mogla je Cairo odabrati i Vladimira Nabokova ("Lolita"), ali valjda bi to bilo preočito. Granica između stranica i stvarnosti već je zamagljena ("Je li govoriš o priči ili nama?"), posebice kad se spletom okolnosti Cairin mobitel nađe kod njega i Miller se odveze do njezine kuće da joj ga vrati pa se nađu nasamo.

Jesu li konzumirali romantičnu privlačnost ili je sve ostalo samo na poljupcu i onoj cigareti koju su podijelili? Bartlett to ne otkriva (vjerojatnije je ovo potonje), no kad Miller ustukne i odluči prekinuti prisan odnos, razočarana Cairo to shvati kao izdaju i odluči se osvetiti, što bi profesora moglo koštati posla.

"Ljubavna bol je usporena snimka automobilske nesreće popraćena Mozartovom glazbom", nadahnuto će ona, ali film je puno inspirativniji u prvom i drugom činu, a treći djeluje zbrzano i gubi početno nadahnuće, premda je interesantno i hrabro da Bartlett nije automatski naklonjena ženskom liku, naprotiv. Gotička Lolita iz #MeToo svijeta pokazuje znakove sociopata.

Profesor i maturantica počinju osjećati uzajamnu atrakciju u filmu "Millerova djevojka" ("Miller‘s Girl"), krivo žanriranom na popularnom IMDb-u. Prema IMDb-u ovo je "comedy, drama". Kao da je IMDb-ov algoritam pobrkao "Millerovu djevojku" i "Fatalnu studenticu" iz 2012. s Elizabeth Olsen i Joshom Radnerom koja je, unatoč erotsko-trilerskom hrvatskom naslovu, bila mješavina romantične komedije i drame.

Elementi drame prisutni su u "Millerovoj djevojci", prilično solidnom i razmjerno provokativnom prvijencu redateljice i scenaristice Jade Halley Bartlett, premijerno prikazanom na Palm Springs festivalu. No, film se postavlja kao triler, i to onaj erotske vrste, svojevrsni spoj Sidneyja Sheldona i serijala "Otrovna Ivy" s Drew Barrymore i Alyssom Milano, samo sofisticiraniji i provokativniji od uzora zahvaljujući načitanim likovima i njihovom zabranjenom odnosu u #MeToo svijetu.

"Sve djevojke čeznu da budu voljene, književnost je moja utjeha u samoći", govori usamljena Cairo Sweet (popularna Jenna Ortega; serija "Wednesday", "X", nastavci "Vriska"), pripovijedajući zbivanja.

Iako Cairo ističe da je "potpuno obična", tu tvrdnju pobija njezino "lolitovsko" (prez)ime, sklonost seksi odijevanju, kao i ljubav prema knjigama i pisanju. Cairo živi sama u golemoj kući u malom gradu u Tennesseeju koji nije nikad napustila, za razliku od njezinih odsutnih globtroterskih roditelja odvjetnika, razbijajući dosadu čitanjem i druženjem s vragolastom prijateljicom Winnie (Gideon Adlon; "Neće moći ove noći", "Mustang", nove "Opasne čini").

Redateljica Bartlett uspostavlja južnjačku gotičku atmosferu kakva odgovara mladoj zvijezdi Ortegi ("Wednesday") dok ona razotkriva svoju zavodljivu stranu. Kad Cairo upozna sredovječnog profesora književnosti Jonathana Millera (Martin Freeman; "Hobit 1-3", serija "Sherlock", "Operativka"), njih dvoje "kliknu" kao ljubitelji literature i istinski "vide" jedno drugo.

Ona u njemu vidi uzor, iako je objavio jedan neuspješan roman i okrenuo se predavanju, što mu spočitava supruga Beatrice (Dagmara Dominczyk) dok paradira po stanu u donjem rublju i piše na kompjuteru pijuckajući usput vino. On u njoj vidi nekoga tko bi uz njegovo mentorstvo mogao postići ono što sam nije.

Dinamika među likovima je fino formirana i flert može početi, samo što odlazi dalje od Winnieina flertiranja s profesorom tjelesnog Fillmoreom (Bashir Salahuddin; "Top Gun 2"), a zaplet će kulminirati kad Miller zada učenici da napiše kratku priču u stilu njezina omiljenog autora.

Ni pet ni šest, Cairo iz provokatorskih pobuda odabere kontroverznog Henryja Millera koji je zabranjen u školama zbog pornografije, a povrh toga njezina kratka priča tiče se afere profesora i učenice kakvu očito mašta da će doživjeti s Millerom. "Ovo je neprikladno, pornografija, nađi drugog autora", govori Miller. "Rekao si ‘napiši ono što znaš‘...", podsjeća ga Cairo.

Mogla je Cairo odabrati i Vladimira Nabokova ("Lolita"), ali valjda bi to bilo preočito. Granica između stranica i stvarnosti već je zamagljena ("Je li govoriš o priči ili nama?"), posebice kad se spletom okolnosti Cairin mobitel nađe kod njega i Miller se odveze do njezine kuće da joj ga vrati pa se nađu nasamo.

Jesu li konzumirali romantičnu privlačnost ili je sve ostalo samo na poljupcu i onoj cigareti koju su podijelili? Bartlett to ne otkriva (vjerojatnije je ovo potonje), no kad Miller ustukne i odluči prekinuti prisan odnos, razočarana Cairo to shvati kao izdaju i odluči se osvetiti, što bi profesora moglo koštati posla.

"Ljubavna bol je usporena snimka automobilske nesreće popraćena Mozartovom glazbom", nadahnuto će ona, ali film je puno inspirativniji u prvom i drugom činu, a treći djeluje zbrzano i gubi početno nadahnuće, premda je interesantno i hrabro da Bartlett nije automatski naklonjena ženskom liku, naprotiv. Gotička Lolita iz #MeToo svijeta pokazuje znakove sociopata.
