Nema Cannesa, ima filmova. Ovogodišnje redovno 72. izdanje Cannesa, izvorno zakazano za polovinu svibnja, otkazano je zbog pandemije koronavirusa, no njegova direkcija svejedno je objavila službenu selekciju od čak 56 filmova koji će se, pod canneskom etiketom, do kraja godine zavrtjeti na drugim festivalima i zaigrati u kinima.
Potez Cannesa je hvalevrijedan: dok su se neki drugi festivali prebacili "online", Pierre Lescure i Thierry Frémaux odbili su tu opciju ne želeći riskirati s curenjem filmova na internet, ali nisu htjeli odustati od selekcije. Cannes je prevelik festival (najveći na svijetu) i njegovo neodržavanje u bilo kojem obliku imalo bi reperkusije na festivalsku i kinorepertoarsku godinu.
Da nije bilo nesretne korone, sad bismo već znali naslov dobitnika Zlatne palme i nasljednika prošlogodišnjeg laureata "Parazita" Joon-ho Bonga koji je nakon Cannesa dogurao do dodjele Oscara, kao i Tarantinov "Bilo jednom u... Hollywoodu" i Almodovarova "Tuga i slava".
Možda bi to bio novi film Wesa Andersona "The French Dispatch" s plejadom zvijezda predvođenih Timotheeom Chalametom ili "Mangrove" Stevea McQueena, "Summer 85" Francoisa Ozona, "True Mothers" Naomi Kawase, "Another Round" Thomasa Vinterberga, "Forgotten We’ll Be" Fernanda Truebe, "DNA" redateljice Maiwenn, biografski film o Raineru Werneru Fassbinderu "Enfant Terrible"...
Svaki od ovih filmova našao se u objavljenoj canneskoj selekciji, zajedno s, primjerice, redateljskim prvijencem glumca Vigga Mortensena "Falling", novim uratkom Im Sang-Sooa "Heaven: To The Land Of Happiness", nastavkom kultnog južnokorejskog akcijskog zombi horora "Train To Busan" naslovljenim "Peninsula", friškim crtićem genijalnog Pixara "Soul" i animiranim filmom legendarnog japanskog studija Ghibli "Aya and the Witch".
Dakle, kao i uvijek, Cannes bi bio krcat potencijalno sjajnim filmovima, ali i zvijezdama s obzirom na to da samo u "The French Dispatch" glume i Tilda Swinton, Lea Seydoux, Bill Murray, Edward Norton, Christoph Waltz, Benicio Del Toro, Willem Dafoe, Elizabeth Moss..., dok su glavne glumice filma "Ammonite" Saoirse Ronan i Kate Winslet, a Mads Mikkelsen predvodi "Another Round".
Ovako, canneski filmovi bit će prikazani na festivalima kao što su Sundance, Toronto, Locarno, Telluride, Deauville, Pusan, New York, Lyon, Rome, Rio, Tokio, Mumbai i San Sebastian, s time da će se na potonjem i natjecati. Na popisu nema Venecije koja, kako zasad stoji, ide po planu početkom rujna. To sugerira da se dva najveća (europska) festivalska konkurenta ipak nisu uspjela dogovoriti oko suradnje.

Brojke i slova: bez hrvatskih filmova
Rekordnih 2067 filmova bilo je u razmatranju za selekciju, znatno više od prošlogodišnjih 1845. Od 56 odabranih filmova njih 15 su prvijenci, 16 su režirale žene, a nažalost nijedan nije hrvatski.

B kao ‘Bendetta‘: Verhoeven dogodine
Na cannesku premijeru i kinodistribuciju odmah nakon Cannesa tipovao je novi film velikog Paula Verhoevena, potencijalno kontroverzna "Bendetta" s Virginie Efira i Charlotte Rampling. Međutim, film je slijedio trag mnogih blockbustera i odgodio se za 2021. godinu. Cannes već ima zicer za 73. izdanje.

Nema Cannesa, ima filmova. Ovogodišnje redovno 72. izdanje Cannesa, izvorno zakazano za polovinu svibnja, otkazano je zbog pandemije koronavirusa, no njegova direkcija svejedno je objavila službenu selekciju od čak 56 filmova koji će se, pod canneskom etiketom, do kraja godine zavrtjeti na drugim festivalima i zaigrati u kinima.
Potez Cannesa je hvalevrijedan: dok su se neki drugi festivali prebacili "online", Pierre Lescure i Thierry Frémaux odbili su tu opciju ne želeći riskirati s curenjem filmova na internet, ali nisu htjeli odustati od selekcije. Cannes je prevelik festival (najveći na svijetu) i njegovo neodržavanje u bilo kojem obliku imalo bi reperkusije na festivalsku i kinorepertoarsku godinu.
Da nije bilo nesretne korone, sad bismo već znali naslov dobitnika Zlatne palme i nasljednika prošlogodišnjeg laureata "Parazita" Joon-ho Bonga koji je nakon Cannesa dogurao do dodjele Oscara, kao i Tarantinov "Bilo jednom u... Hollywoodu" i Almodovarova "Tuga i slava".
Možda bi to bio novi film Wesa Andersona "The French Dispatch" s plejadom zvijezda predvođenih Timotheeom Chalametom ili "Mangrove" Stevea McQueena, "Summer 85" Francoisa Ozona, "True Mothers" Naomi Kawase, "Another Round" Thomasa Vinterberga, "Forgotten We’ll Be" Fernanda Truebe, "DNA" redateljice Maiwenn, biografski film o Raineru Werneru Fassbinderu "Enfant Terrible"...
Svaki od ovih filmova našao se u objavljenoj canneskoj selekciji, zajedno s, primjerice, redateljskim prvijencem glumca Vigga Mortensena "Falling", novim uratkom Im Sang-Sooa "Heaven: To The Land Of Happiness", nastavkom kultnog južnokorejskog akcijskog zombi horora "Train To Busan" naslovljenim "Peninsula", friškim crtićem genijalnog Pixara "Soul" i animiranim filmom legendarnog japanskog studija Ghibli "Aya and the Witch".
Dakle, kao i uvijek, Cannes bi bio krcat potencijalno sjajnim filmovima, ali i zvijezdama s obzirom na to da samo u "The French Dispatch" glume i Tilda Swinton, Lea Seydoux, Bill Murray, Edward Norton, Christoph Waltz, Benicio Del Toro, Willem Dafoe, Elizabeth Moss..., dok su glavne glumice filma "Ammonite" Saoirse Ronan i Kate Winslet, a Mads Mikkelsen predvodi "Another Round".
Ovako, canneski filmovi bit će prikazani na festivalima kao što su Sundance, Toronto, Locarno, Telluride, Deauville, Pusan, New York, Lyon, Rome, Rio, Tokio, Mumbai i San Sebastian, s time da će se na potonjem i natjecati. Na popisu nema Venecije koja, kako zasad stoji, ide po planu početkom rujna. To sugerira da se dva najveća (europska) festivalska konkurenta ipak nisu uspjela dogovoriti oko suradnje.

Brojke i slova: bez hrvatskih filmova
Rekordnih 2067 filmova bilo je u razmatranju za selekciju, znatno više od prošlogodišnjih 1845. Od 56 odabranih filmova njih 15 su prvijenci, 16 su režirale žene, a nažalost nijedan nije hrvatski.

B kao ‘Bendetta‘: Verhoeven dogodine
Na cannesku premijeru i kinodistribuciju odmah nakon Cannesa tipovao je novi film velikog Paula Verhoevena, potencijalno kontroverzna "Bendetta" s Virginie Efira i Charlotte Rampling. Međutim, film je slijedio trag mnogih blockbustera i odgodio se za 2021. godinu. Cannes već ima zicer za 73. izdanje.
