Osnova za priču finsko-švedskog filma katastrofe "Ponor" ("Avgrunden"/"The Abyss") leži u stvarnosti. Uvodni natpis obavještava kako je 1961. potres izazvao otvaranje masivnog kratera poviše starog rudnika u starom dijelu gradića Kiruna u Sjevernoj Švedskoj.

Godine 2022. taj isti stari dio, sagrađen iznad rudnika, potresao se od "najvećeg proboja stijene u švedskoj povijesti". Nakon toga stari grad je izmješten tri kilometra dalje. To nije sve. Jer, "najveći podzemni rudnik na svijetu uzrokuje više od 100 podrhtavanja godišnje" i "najgore je što se ne može predvidjeti gdje..."

Dojmljiv uvod poziva fanove filmova katastrofe na gledanje, a utemeljenost u stvarnosti, kao i finsko-švedska produkcija, sugerira da je "Ponor" daleko od "disaster" spektakla Hollywooda, kao i to da ga nipošto ne treba brkati s klasikom "The Abyss" čiji je naslov preuzeo za anglofono tržište (srećom, kod nas nije preveden "Bezdan").

"Ponor" je jedan od onih realističnijih, europskih/skandinavskih filmova katastrofe koji se više ugleda na norveški "Divovski val" i kinesku "Planinu smrti" ili manje američke "disaster" projekte ("Beskonačna oluja", "Superćelija").

Budžetirani hollywoodski blockbusteri kao što su "Twister", "Dnevno svjetlo", "Danteov vrh", "Vulkan", "Žestoki udar", "Armagedon", "Oluja svih oluja", "2012", "San Andreas" itd. proračunski su nedostižni za "The Abyss", premda on svejedno slijedi njihovu formulu.

Tako, baš kao i u filmu "Dante‘s Peak", tinejdžeri postaju meta prirodne katastrofe u nastupnoj sceni, nakon čega upoznajemo aktericu Friggu (švedska zvijezda Tuva Novotny; glumila u "Annihilationu" Alexa Garlanda).

Frigga radi kao šefica osiguranja najvećeg svjetskog podzemnog rudnika i, kad otkrije zabrinjavajuću razinu seizmičke aktivnosti, shvatit će da bi njezin gradić mogla progutati zemlja, na određeni način preuzimajući ulogu lika Piercea Brosnana iz "Danteova vrha".

"Postoji ogromna jebena brazda točno ispod Kirune. Jedan potres i cijeli grad će se srušiti", upozorava ona. Redatelj Richard Holm i scenarist Robin Sherlock Holm, njegov sin, pokušavaju dramski oslikati Friggu koja je razapeta između obitelji (razdvojena od supruga, otuđena djeca) i posla, kao što je i film neravnomjerno rastrgan između drame i katastrofe.

No, posrijedi je formulaična, generička karakterizacija na rubu sapunice u gledljivom, ali ni po čemu pamtljivom djelcu. Nešto bolje Holmovi režijski/scenaristički potiču napetost od nadolazeće i neizbježne katastrofe koja prijeti rastvoriti zemlju i usisati sve što se nalazi gore, ljude, aute, kuće... Ipak, jednom kad do katastrofe (napokon) dođe i Friggine slutnje se ostvare, scene su korektno-neloše uprizorene, iako rijetko izazivaju pravo uzbuđenje.

Zasigurno je to do manjka budžeta, pa i iskustva filmaša koji pokušavaju sakriti proračunske i ine nedostatke stavljanjem većeg naglaska na dramu i realizam, ali to neujednačeni film samo još više čine neujednačenim. Ako ništa, Holmovi imaju osjećaja za simboliku. Članovi razjedinjene familije se ujedinjuju dok se tlo pod njihovim nogama razdvaja.

Osnova za priču finsko-švedskog filma katastrofe "Ponor" ("Avgrunden"/"The Abyss") leži u stvarnosti. Uvodni natpis obavještava kako je 1961. potres izazvao otvaranje masivnog kratera poviše starog rudnika u starom dijelu gradića Kiruna u Sjevernoj Švedskoj.

Godine 2022. taj isti stari dio, sagrađen iznad rudnika, potresao se od "najvećeg proboja stijene u švedskoj povijesti". Nakon toga stari grad je izmješten tri kilometra dalje. To nije sve. Jer, "najveći podzemni rudnik na svijetu uzrokuje više od 100 podrhtavanja godišnje" i "najgore je što se ne može predvidjeti gdje..."

Dojmljiv uvod poziva fanove filmova katastrofe na gledanje, a utemeljenost u stvarnosti, kao i finsko-švedska produkcija, sugerira da je "Ponor" daleko od "disaster" spektakla Hollywooda, kao i to da ga nipošto ne treba brkati s klasikom "The Abyss" čiji je naslov preuzeo za anglofono tržište (srećom, kod nas nije preveden "Bezdan").

"Ponor" je jedan od onih realističnijih, europskih/skandinavskih filmova katastrofe koji se više ugleda na norveški "Divovski val" i kinesku "Planinu smrti" ili manje američke "disaster" projekte ("Beskonačna oluja", "Superćelija").

Budžetirani hollywoodski blockbusteri kao što su "Twister", "Dnevno svjetlo", "Danteov vrh", "Vulkan", "Žestoki udar", "Armagedon", "Oluja svih oluja", "2012", "San Andreas" itd. proračunski su nedostižni za "The Abyss", premda on svejedno slijedi njihovu formulu.

Tako, baš kao i u filmu "Dante‘s Peak", tinejdžeri postaju meta prirodne katastrofe u nastupnoj sceni, nakon čega upoznajemo aktericu Friggu (švedska zvijezda Tuva Novotny; glumila u "Annihilationu" Alexa Garlanda).

Frigga radi kao šefica osiguranja najvećeg svjetskog podzemnog rudnika i, kad otkrije zabrinjavajuću razinu seizmičke aktivnosti, shvatit će da bi njezin gradić mogla progutati zemlja, na određeni način preuzimajući ulogu lika Piercea Brosnana iz "Danteova vrha".

"Postoji ogromna jebena brazda točno ispod Kirune. Jedan potres i cijeli grad će se srušiti", upozorava ona. Redatelj Richard Holm i scenarist Robin Sherlock Holm, njegov sin, pokušavaju dramski oslikati Friggu koja je razapeta između obitelji (razdvojena od supruga, otuđena djeca) i posla, kao što je i film neravnomjerno rastrgan između drame i katastrofe.

No, posrijedi je formulaična, generička karakterizacija na rubu sapunice u gledljivom, ali ni po čemu pamtljivom djelcu. Nešto bolje Holmovi režijski/scenaristički potiču napetost od nadolazeće i neizbježne katastrofe koja prijeti rastvoriti zemlju i usisati sve što se nalazi gore, ljude, aute, kuće... Ipak, jednom kad do katastrofe (napokon) dođe i Friggine slutnje se ostvare, scene su korektno-neloše uprizorene, iako rijetko izazivaju pravo uzbuđenje.

Zasigurno je to do manjka budžeta, pa i iskustva filmaša koji pokušavaju sakriti proračunske i ine nedostatke stavljanjem većeg naglaska na dramu i realizam, ali to neujednačeni film samo još više čine neujednačenim. Ako ništa, Holmovi imaju osjećaja za simboliku. Članovi razjedinjene familije se ujedinjuju dok se tlo pod njihovim nogama razdvaja.
