Bez neke velike pompe u hrvatskim kinima je zaigrao film “Taurus”, poluautobiografska glazbena drama redatelja i scenarista Tima Suttona s Colsonom Bakerom alias Machine Gun Kellyjem u glavnoj ulozi. “Taurus” se, zanimljivo, pojavio baš u godini kad Eminemov slično žanrirani kinohit “8 milja” slavi 20. obljetnicu.

Baker i Eminem se ne podnose, naprotiv, porječkaju se preko medija bez dlake na jeziku, ali “Taurus” je nedvojbeno pokušaj da Machine Gun Kelly dobije vlastitu inačicu “8 Mile”, kao što, uostalom, on sam želi postati nasljednik nekoć popularnog bijelog repera, tj. steći ekvivalentnu zvjezdanu popularnost i glazbeni utjecaj.

Kelly se već (s)našao ispred filmske kamere, glumeći Tommyja Leeja, bubnjara hard ‘n’ heavy grupe osamdesetih Mötley Crüe, u filmu “The Dirt”. Bio je sasvim solidan. No, uloga u “The Dirt” je bila sporedna, a u “Taurusu” je glavna.

Praktički nema kadra u kojem se Baker (oslovljavajmo ga radije tako nadalje) ne pojavljuje kao glazbena zvijezda Cole Taurus i u tome i jest jedan od problema filma. Glazbenik nije loš glumac, ali ni blizu toliko dobar da bi mogao sam iznijeti film na svojim leđima. Eminem je imao Brittany Murphy, Mekhija Phifera i oskarovku Kim Basinger da lakše po(d)nese teret.

S druge strane, Baker ima stvarnu družicu Megan Fox (“Transformers”, “Kako izgubiti prijatelje i otuđiti se od ljudi”, “Ninja kornjače”, “Dok nas smrt ne rastavi”) u koju je zaljubljen do ušiju te Maddie Hasson (“Zloćudno”), a one se nalaze u ulogama Coleove prezgodne bivše Mae i njegove neumorne asistentice Ilane.

Ima i Scoota McNairyja (“Ubij ih nježno”, “Argo”, “Lančana reakcija”) i Ruby Rose (“Najduža noć”, “Batgirl”, “Slijepi putnik”) kao tumače likova Coleova producenta i poznanice. Hasson je vrlo dobra, najbolja u filmu, no njezina uloga je sporedna, Foxičina, pak, svedena na epizodu, što se može reći i za McNairyja i Rose.

Dodatni problem jest da je Cole ogledna tipologija problematične glazbene zvijezde na silaznoj putanji, hodajući “seks, droga i rock ‘n’ roll” klišej, kao što se i sam film predvidljivo dotiče tematike ovisnosti i opasnosti slave. ”Jesi li nadrogiran?”, pitaju frekventno Colea koji nije odveć interesantan i karizmatičan da bi ga slijedili tijekom više-manje monotonih 105 minuta dok šmrče kokain, ševi, pada u nesvijest i tome slično.

Rijetki su trenuci kad uspijeva artikulirati misli u iznenađujuće pronicljive rečenice (“Glazba je kao označivač stranica”), otkriti utjecaje (Blink 182, 50 Cent) ili pokazati nježnost prema asistentici, sugerirajući da možda nije toliki “šupak” kako sam za sebe voli reći.

Nesumnjivo, “Taurus” je nastao (i) pod utjecajem fiktivno-biografskog filma o Nirvaninu Kurtu Cobainu ”Last Days”, ali Baker nije glumački kalibar Michaela Pitta, a ni Sutton nije redateljski kalibar Gusa Van Santa. Čini se, u stvari, da je film osobnog, terapeutskog i otrežnjujućeg karaktera potrebniji Bakeru nego žanru i kinematografiji. U toj “potrebi” film nije posve nezanimljiv na “meta” razini: Baker kanalizira verziju samoga sebe kakav je bio, tj. kakav je mogao biti da se nije očistio od opijata.

Bez neke velike pompe u hrvatskim kinima je zaigrao film “Taurus”, poluautobiografska glazbena drama redatelja i scenarista Tima Suttona s Colsonom Bakerom alias Machine Gun Kellyjem u glavnoj ulozi. “Taurus” se, zanimljivo, pojavio baš u godini kad Eminemov slično žanrirani kinohit “8 milja” slavi 20. obljetnicu.

Baker i Eminem se ne podnose, naprotiv, porječkaju se preko medija bez dlake na jeziku, ali “Taurus” je nedvojbeno pokušaj da Machine Gun Kelly dobije vlastitu inačicu “8 Mile”, kao što, uostalom, on sam želi postati nasljednik nekoć popularnog bijelog repera, tj. steći ekvivalentnu zvjezdanu popularnost i glazbeni utjecaj.

Kelly se već (s)našao ispred filmske kamere, glumeći Tommyja Leeja, bubnjara hard ‘n’ heavy grupe osamdesetih Mötley Crüe, u filmu “The Dirt”. Bio je sasvim solidan. No, uloga u “The Dirt” je bila sporedna, a u “Taurusu” je glavna.

Praktički nema kadra u kojem se Baker (oslovljavajmo ga radije tako nadalje) ne pojavljuje kao glazbena zvijezda Cole Taurus i u tome i jest jedan od problema filma. Glazbenik nije loš glumac, ali ni blizu toliko dobar da bi mogao sam iznijeti film na svojim leđima. Eminem je imao Brittany Murphy, Mekhija Phifera i oskarovku Kim Basinger da lakše po(d)nese teret.

S druge strane, Baker ima stvarnu družicu Megan Fox (“Transformers”, “Kako izgubiti prijatelje i otuđiti se od ljudi”, “Ninja kornjače”, “Dok nas smrt ne rastavi”) u koju je zaljubljen do ušiju te Maddie Hasson (“Zloćudno”), a one se nalaze u ulogama Coleove prezgodne bivše Mae i njegove neumorne asistentice Ilane.

Ima i Scoota McNairyja (“Ubij ih nježno”, “Argo”, “Lančana reakcija”) i Ruby Rose (“Najduža noć”, “Batgirl”, “Slijepi putnik”) kao tumače likova Coleova producenta i poznanice. Hasson je vrlo dobra, najbolja u filmu, no njezina uloga je sporedna, Foxičina, pak, svedena na epizodu, što se može reći i za McNairyja i Rose.

Dodatni problem jest da je Cole ogledna tipologija problematične glazbene zvijezde na silaznoj putanji, hodajući “seks, droga i rock ‘n’ roll” klišej, kao što se i sam film predvidljivo dotiče tematike ovisnosti i opasnosti slave. ”Jesi li nadrogiran?”, pitaju frekventno Colea koji nije odveć interesantan i karizmatičan da bi ga slijedili tijekom više-manje monotonih 105 minuta dok šmrče kokain, ševi, pada u nesvijest i tome slično.

Rijetki su trenuci kad uspijeva artikulirati misli u iznenađujuće pronicljive rečenice (“Glazba je kao označivač stranica”), otkriti utjecaje (Blink 182, 50 Cent) ili pokazati nježnost prema asistentici, sugerirajući da možda nije toliki “šupak” kako sam za sebe voli reći.

Nesumnjivo, “Taurus” je nastao (i) pod utjecajem fiktivno-biografskog filma o Nirvaninu Kurtu Cobainu ”Last Days”, ali Baker nije glumački kalibar Michaela Pitta, a ni Sutton nije redateljski kalibar Gusa Van Santa. Čini se, u stvari, da je film osobnog, terapeutskog i otrežnjujućeg karaktera potrebniji Bakeru nego žanru i kinematografiji. U toj “potrebi” film nije posve nezanimljiv na “meta” razini: Baker kanalizira verziju samoga sebe kakav je bio, tj. kakav je mogao biti da se nije očistio od opijata.
