On je skitnica zlatnog srca, romanični idealist, mornar u vječnoj potrazi za avanturom, kozmopolit lišen predrasuda, šutljivi zaštitnih nemoćnih, zavodnik kojem su se osladile mnoge, ali ga nijedna nije zadržala.

Njegov nastup često je ironičan, ali nikad ciničan (kako je lijepo objasnio, "između cinizma i ironije postoji razlika kao između podrigivanja i uzdaha"). Na kartanju redovito vara, ali će, kao džentlmen starog kova, na to uvijek upozoriti protivnika.

Opsesivno čita "Utopiju" Thomasa Morea, ali je nikad ne dovršava. Na lijevom uhu nosi naučnicu, a iz kuta usana vječno mu se dimi cigareta. Govorimo, dakako, o Cortu Malteseu, jednom od najfascinantnijih strip junaka i alter-egu svoga tvorca, venecijanskog majstora Huga Pratta - piše Povijest.hr.

‘Balada o slanom moru‘

Prvi put se pojavljuje 1967. godine u "Baladi o slanom moru", kao krijumčar i pirat na pacifičkim otocima u vrijeme Prvoga svjetskog rata. Autor ga predstavlja na bizaran način - razapevši ga na splavi! Isprva je bio sporedan lik, da bi ga Pratt potom, u okviru kratkih priča koje je izdavao za magazin "Pif", učinio centralnim protagonistom.

Bacio ga je u vrtlog najbremenitijih povijesnih zbivanja s početka dvadesetog stoljeća, a za praćenje njegovih pustolovina ponekad je potreban atlas: u Prattovu najuspješnijem serijalu plovit ćemo Južnim morima, prikradati se uz ljude-leoparde u kolonijalnoj Africi, skrivati se u blatnom rovu ratom zahvaćene Europe, spustiti se Amazonom u srce juznoameričke džungle, plesati tango u Buenos Airesu, družiti se s kineskim revolucionarima, mongolskim šamanima i vudu čarobnicama, bježati venecijanskim uličicama punim opasnosti ili švercati zlato u sibirskoj pustoši.

Putovanja svijetom u sebe sama

Cortova putovanja diljem globusa ujedno su putovanja u vlastitu nutrinu, univerzalna metafora upoznavanja sebe kroz svijet. U avanturama mu se pridružuju brojne povijesne ličnosti, od Jacka Londona, Ernesta Hemingwaya i Hermana Hessea, preko Butcha Cassidyja i "Crvenog baruna" Manfreda von Richthofena, do Enver-Paše i Staljina (potonji ga je, primjerice, spasio kad mu je prijetilo smajnuće na granici Turske i Armenije!), ali i bića iz mitova i legendi.

Premda lik ostaje tajanstven, u epizodi "Rane godine" otkrivamo ponešto o njegovom zaleđu: rođen je 1887. godine u Valetti, prijestolnici Malte, kao sin britanskog mornara iz Cornwalla i ciganske vještice s Gibraltara. Kad je u djetinjstvu shvatio da ima prekratku liniju života na dlanu, očevim nožem je urezao dulju, čime je pokazao da sam bira svoju sudbinu! Zadnji put ga srećemo u epizodi "Putinjski škorpioni", gdje nestaje tijekom Španjolskoga građanskog rata.

‘Tu se ne krade‘

Pratt, koji je poput svoga najpoznatijeg junaka proputovao čitav svijet te slovio za ženskara, lik je dijelom zasnovao na vlastitim doživljajima, a dijelom na poljskom pustolovu Ferdinandu Ossendowskom. Ime Corto odabrao je zbog njegove dvoznačnosti: ono u španjolskom žargonu označava "osobu hitrih prstiju", dakle lopova, ali i kradljivca tuđih osjećaja.

Osim niza međunarodnih nagrada, o uspješnosti serijala svjedoči činjenica da ga je "Le Monde" uvrstio na listu stotinu najboljih knjiga dvadesetog stoljeća, uz Camusovog "Stranca" i Kafkin "Proces", ali i poruka lopova koji su provalili u autorov dom u Švicarskoj. Kad su shvatili gdje se nalaze, sve ukradeno vratili su na mjesto te ostavili cedulju: "U kući oca Corta Maltesea se ne krade!"

On je skitnica zlatnog srca, romanični idealist, mornar u vječnoj potrazi za avanturom, kozmopolit lišen predrasuda, šutljivi zaštitnih nemoćnih, zavodnik kojem su se osladile mnoge, ali ga nijedna nije zadržala.

Njegov nastup često je ironičan, ali nikad ciničan (kako je lijepo objasnio, "između cinizma i ironije postoji razlika kao između podrigivanja i uzdaha"). Na kartanju redovito vara, ali će, kao džentlmen starog kova, na to uvijek upozoriti protivnika.

Opsesivno čita "Utopiju" Thomasa Morea, ali je nikad ne dovršava. Na lijevom uhu nosi naučnicu, a iz kuta usana vječno mu se dimi cigareta. Govorimo, dakako, o Cortu Malteseu, jednom od najfascinantnijih strip junaka i alter-egu svoga tvorca, venecijanskog majstora Huga Pratta - piše Povijest.hr.

‘Balada o slanom moru‘

Prvi put se pojavljuje 1967. godine u "Baladi o slanom moru", kao krijumčar i pirat na pacifičkim otocima u vrijeme Prvoga svjetskog rata. Autor ga predstavlja na bizaran način - razapevši ga na splavi! Isprva je bio sporedan lik, da bi ga Pratt potom, u okviru kratkih priča koje je izdavao za magazin "Pif", učinio centralnim protagonistom.

Bacio ga je u vrtlog najbremenitijih povijesnih zbivanja s početka dvadesetog stoljeća, a za praćenje njegovih pustolovina ponekad je potreban atlas: u Prattovu najuspješnijem serijalu plovit ćemo Južnim morima, prikradati se uz ljude-leoparde u kolonijalnoj Africi, skrivati se u blatnom rovu ratom zahvaćene Europe, spustiti se Amazonom u srce juznoameričke džungle, plesati tango u Buenos Airesu, družiti se s kineskim revolucionarima, mongolskim šamanima i vudu čarobnicama, bježati venecijanskim uličicama punim opasnosti ili švercati zlato u sibirskoj pustoši.

Putovanja svijetom u sebe sama

Cortova putovanja diljem globusa ujedno su putovanja u vlastitu nutrinu, univerzalna metafora upoznavanja sebe kroz svijet. U avanturama mu se pridružuju brojne povijesne ličnosti, od Jacka Londona, Ernesta Hemingwaya i Hermana Hessea, preko Butcha Cassidyja i "Crvenog baruna" Manfreda von Richthofena, do Enver-Paše i Staljina (potonji ga je, primjerice, spasio kad mu je prijetilo smajnuće na granici Turske i Armenije!), ali i bića iz mitova i legendi.

Premda lik ostaje tajanstven, u epizodi "Rane godine" otkrivamo ponešto o njegovom zaleđu: rođen je 1887. godine u Valetti, prijestolnici Malte, kao sin britanskog mornara iz Cornwalla i ciganske vještice s Gibraltara. Kad je u djetinjstvu shvatio da ima prekratku liniju života na dlanu, očevim nožem je urezao dulju, čime je pokazao da sam bira svoju sudbinu! Zadnji put ga srećemo u epizodi "Putinjski škorpioni", gdje nestaje tijekom Španjolskoga građanskog rata.

‘Tu se ne krade‘

Pratt, koji je poput svoga najpoznatijeg junaka proputovao čitav svijet te slovio za ženskara, lik je dijelom zasnovao na vlastitim doživljajima, a dijelom na poljskom pustolovu Ferdinandu Ossendowskom. Ime Corto odabrao je zbog njegove dvoznačnosti: ono u španjolskom žargonu označava "osobu hitrih prstiju", dakle lopova, ali i kradljivca tuđih osjećaja.

Osim niza međunarodnih nagrada, o uspješnosti serijala svjedoči činjenica da ga je "Le Monde" uvrstio na listu stotinu najboljih knjiga dvadesetog stoljeća, uz Camusovog "Stranca" i Kafkin "Proces", ali i poruka lopova koji su provalili u autorov dom u Švicarskoj. Kad su shvatili gdje se nalaze, sve ukradeno vratili su na mjesto te ostavili cedulju: "U kući oca Corta Maltesea se ne krade!"
