Sadnja više drveća u urbanim područjima radi snižavanja ljetnih temperatura mogla bi za trećinu smanjiti smrtnost izravno povezanu s vrućinama i toplinskim valovima, što se posebno odnosi na južnu i istočnu Europu gdje su gradovi s najvišom stopom smrtnosti uzrokovanom vrućinama, objavili su znanstvenici u srijedu.


Modeli su pokazali da bi povećanje pokrivenosti gradova drvećem na 30 posto prosječno smanjilo temperaturu 0,4 stupnja Celzija u tim gradovima tijekom vrućih ljetnih mjeseci, izvijestili su u The Lancetu.
Od 6700 preuranjenih smrti pripisanih višim temperaturama u 93 europska grada tijekom 2015., jedna se trećina mogla spriječiti, prema rezultatima istraživanja.

Trenutačno je prosječno nešto manje od 15 posto urbanih sredina u Europi pokriveno nekom vrstom raslinja.
Studija je prva koja predviđa broj preuranjenih smrti zbog viših temperatura u gradovima koje bi se mogle spriječiti dodatnim zelenim ‘pokrivačima‘, rekla je glavna autorica Tamara Iungman, znanstvenica na Barcelonskom institutu za globalno zdravlje.


"Već znamo da su visoke temperature u urbanim sredinama povezane s negativnim zdravstvenim ishodima, poput kardiorespiratornog zatajenja, prijema u bolnicu i preuranjene smrti", rekla je.
"Naš je cilj informirati lokalne vlasti i donositelje odluka o prednostima strateške integracije zelene infrastrukture u urbano planiranje kako bismo promicali održivije, otpornije i zdravije urbano okruženje."


Gradovi bilježe više temperature od predgrađa ili sela zbog takozvanog efekta urbanog toplinskog otoka.
Ta dodatna toplina prvenstveno je uzrokovana nedostatkom vegetacije, ispušnim plinovima iz klimatizacijskih sustava, zajedno s tamnim asfaltom i građevinskim materijalima koji apsorbiraju i zadržavaju toplinu.
Klimatske promjene pojačale su problem.
Prošle je godine Europa doživjela najtoplije ljeto u povijesti i drugu najtopliju godinu.

Toplinski valovi diljem svijeta dosežu rekordne vrhunce, a trajanje im se povećalo u posljednjim desetljećima.
Danas hladnoća još uvijek uzrokuje više smrti u Europi nego vrućine.
Ali klimatski modeli predviđaju da će bolesti i smrt povezani s vrućinom predstavljati veći teret zdravstvenim službama u roku od jednog desetljeća.
"To postaje sve hitnije jer Europa doživljava sve ekstremnije temperaturne fluktuacije uzrokovane klimatskim promjenama", rekla je Iungman.


Znanstvenici su procijenili stope smrtnosti za osobe starije od 20 godina između lipnja i kolovoza 2015., što je obuhvatilo ukupno 57 milijuna stanovnika.
Ti su podaci analizirani u odnosu na dnevne prosječne gradske temperature u dva scenarija za koja su izrađeni modeli.
Prvi je usporedio gradsku temperaturu sa i bez urbanih toplinskih otoka.
Drugi model simulirao je smanjenje temperature ako je pokrivenost drvećem povećana na 30 posto.
U prosjeku je temperatura u gradovima tijekom ljeta 2015. bila 1,5 stupnjeva Celzija viša nego u okolnim selima. Grad s najvećom razlikom od 4,1C  bio je Cluj-Napoca u Rumunjskoj.

U svim gradovima 75 posto ukupnog stanovništva živjelo je u područjima toplijim za najmanje jedan stupanj, dok je 20 posto imalo temperature najmanje dva stupnja više.
Općenito, gradovi s najvišom stopom smrtnosti uzrokovanom temperaturom bili su u južnoj i istočnoj Europi.
"Ovo je važan dio istraživanja", komentirao je Laurence Wainwright, predavač na Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment Sveučilišta u Oxfordu.


"Urbana sadnja drveća - u pravoj mjeri, na pravim mjestima  - vjerojatno dovodi do skromnog, ali stvarnog smanjenja smrtnih slučajeva povezanih s vrućinom u mnogim urbanim područjima."
Ranije studije pokazale su da zelene površine mogu imati dodatne zdravstvene prednosti kao što su smanjenje kardiovaskularnih bolesti, demencije i lošeg mentalnog zdravlja, kao i poboljšanje kognitivnog funkcioniranja djece i starijih osoba.

Sadnja više drveća u urbanim područjima radi snižavanja ljetnih temperatura mogla bi za trećinu smanjiti smrtnost izravno povezanu s vrućinama i toplinskim valovima, što se posebno odnosi na južnu i istočnu Europu gdje su gradovi s najvišom stopom smrtnosti uzrokovanom vrućinama, objavili su znanstvenici u srijedu.


Modeli su pokazali da bi povećanje pokrivenosti gradova drvećem na 30 posto prosječno smanjilo temperaturu 0,4 stupnja Celzija u tim gradovima tijekom vrućih ljetnih mjeseci, izvijestili su u The Lancetu.
Od 6700 preuranjenih smrti pripisanih višim temperaturama u 93 europska grada tijekom 2015., jedna se trećina mogla spriječiti, prema rezultatima istraživanja.

Trenutačno je prosječno nešto manje od 15 posto urbanih sredina u Europi pokriveno nekom vrstom raslinja.
Studija je prva koja predviđa broj preuranjenih smrti zbog viših temperatura u gradovima koje bi se mogle spriječiti dodatnim zelenim ‘pokrivačima‘, rekla je glavna autorica Tamara Iungman, znanstvenica na Barcelonskom institutu za globalno zdravlje.


"Već znamo da su visoke temperature u urbanim sredinama povezane s negativnim zdravstvenim ishodima, poput kardiorespiratornog zatajenja, prijema u bolnicu i preuranjene smrti", rekla je.
"Naš je cilj informirati lokalne vlasti i donositelje odluka o prednostima strateške integracije zelene infrastrukture u urbano planiranje kako bismo promicali održivije, otpornije i zdravije urbano okruženje."


Gradovi bilježe više temperature od predgrađa ili sela zbog takozvanog efekta urbanog toplinskog otoka.
Ta dodatna toplina prvenstveno je uzrokovana nedostatkom vegetacije, ispušnim plinovima iz klimatizacijskih sustava, zajedno s tamnim asfaltom i građevinskim materijalima koji apsorbiraju i zadržavaju toplinu.
Klimatske promjene pojačale su problem.
Prošle je godine Europa doživjela najtoplije ljeto u povijesti i drugu najtopliju godinu.

Toplinski valovi diljem svijeta dosežu rekordne vrhunce, a trajanje im se povećalo u posljednjim desetljećima.
Danas hladnoća još uvijek uzrokuje više smrti u Europi nego vrućine.
Ali klimatski modeli predviđaju da će bolesti i smrt povezani s vrućinom predstavljati veći teret zdravstvenim službama u roku od jednog desetljeća.
"To postaje sve hitnije jer Europa doživljava sve ekstremnije temperaturne fluktuacije uzrokovane klimatskim promjenama", rekla je Iungman.


Znanstvenici su procijenili stope smrtnosti za osobe starije od 20 godina između lipnja i kolovoza 2015., što je obuhvatilo ukupno 57 milijuna stanovnika.
Ti su podaci analizirani u odnosu na dnevne prosječne gradske temperature u dva scenarija za koja su izrađeni modeli.
Prvi je usporedio gradsku temperaturu sa i bez urbanih toplinskih otoka.
Drugi model simulirao je smanjenje temperature ako je pokrivenost drvećem povećana na 30 posto.
U prosjeku je temperatura u gradovima tijekom ljeta 2015. bila 1,5 stupnjeva Celzija viša nego u okolnim selima. Grad s najvećom razlikom od 4,1C  bio je Cluj-Napoca u Rumunjskoj.

U svim gradovima 75 posto ukupnog stanovništva živjelo je u područjima toplijim za najmanje jedan stupanj, dok je 20 posto imalo temperature najmanje dva stupnja više.
Općenito, gradovi s najvišom stopom smrtnosti uzrokovanom temperaturom bili su u južnoj i istočnoj Europi.
"Ovo je važan dio istraživanja", komentirao je Laurence Wainwright, predavač na Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment Sveučilišta u Oxfordu.


"Urbana sadnja drveća - u pravoj mjeri, na pravim mjestima  - vjerojatno dovodi do skromnog, ali stvarnog smanjenja smrtnih slučajeva povezanih s vrućinom u mnogim urbanim područjima."
