Jedna od najvećih zamjerki koju muškarci ističu protiv feminizma je čudna ideja da žene "sve dobivaju besplatno". Vjeruju da žene, samim time što su žene, mogu navesti muškarce da sve plate i da tako rješavaju probleme.

Postoji mnogo stvari za koje mislim da muškarci nisu ni svjesni da se ženama redovito događaju a oni ih neće iskusiti - barem u Americi, piše autorica i navodi četri primjera:

1. Muškarci ne moraju moljakati ginekologe, niti im se govori da ne znaju što žele

Zapravo sam morala obići dvanaest liječnika dok sam našla jednog koji me pristao sterilizirati, a i taj je to učinio samo zato što su ga i moja majka i tata molili. Bila sam odbačena, moja bol nije ozbiljno shvaćena, a apsolutno nitko me nije slušao.

Bila sam punoljetna kada se to dogodilo. Dovoljno sam stara da živim sama, doniram organ, dovoljno stara da uzdržavam dijete ako ga želim i dovoljno stara da se prijavim u vojsku ako to želim. 2. U muškarce se ne bulji u javnosti

Kada si djevojka, svi te gledaju kao komad mesa osobito ako si "pogrešno" odjevena.

To nije ugodno iskustvo. Zbog toga se žene moraju same "cenzurirati". Muškarci im neće pomoći.

3. Muškarci ne moraju svakodnevno planirati tehnike za izbjegavanje nasilnih muškaraca

Šaljete prijateljima SMS-ove s detaljima o vožnji Uberom samo da biste bili sigurni? Razgovarate telefonom kako biste izbjegli ulično uznemiravanje? Šutite jer bi muškarac koji vas gnjavi mogao postati nasilan?

Da, i to je dio svakodnevnice žene.

Osobno, mislim da bi većina žena trebala razmisliti o nožu ili satovima karatea. Morala sam više puta izvlačiti nož kako bih se spasila..

Da, žene se moraju braniti. A žene to moraju i planirati.

Muškarci ne znaju kako je to kada vas netko prati ulicom i može vas zaskočiti; to nije normalna pojava u većini dijelova Amerike, ali, ako ste žensko, vjerojatnije je da ćete to doživjeti.

4. Konačno, muškarce se ne osuđuje zbog toga što su frustrirani

Zapravo sam morala obići dvanaest liječnika dok sam našla jednog koji me pristao sterilizirati, a i taj je to učinio samo zato što su ga i moja majka i tata molili. Bila sam odbačena, moja bol nije ozbiljno shvaćena, a apsolutno nitko me nije slušao.

Bila sam punoljetna kada se to dogodilo. Dovoljno sam stara da živim sama, doniram organ, dovoljno stara da uzdržavam dijete ako ga želim i dovoljno stara da se prijavim u vojsku ako to želim. Dovraga, da mi dijagnosticiraju rak, bila bih dovoljno stara da odbijem liječenje. Ali nisam bila "dovoljno stara" da izaberem definitivnu kontracepciju u svojoj zemlji.

I da se zna, imam užasan hormonski poremećaj kojega trudnoća pogoršava.
