Svijet bi emitirao gotovo 700 milijuna tona štetnih plinova manje svake godine - više od godišnjih emisija Kanade - kad bi se svi vozili biciklom, pokazalo je novo istraživanje.


Sektor prometa trenutno je odgovoran za gotovo četvrtinu emisija stakleničkih plinova izgaranjem goriva, piše agencija France Presse. 


Polovina tih emisija dolazi od automobila, a očekuje se da će se potražnja za prometom do sredine stoljeća utrostručiti. 
U pokušaju dekarbonizacije prometa vlade i industrije okrenule su se električnim vozilima. Samo prošle godine prodano ih je 6,75 milijuna.

Broj prodanih vozila prati se i objavljuje svake godine. Teže je pratiti proizvodnju i prodaju puno starijeg vozila s niskom emisijom štetnih plinova – bicikala.


Međunarodna skupina istraživača sada je kompilirala prvu bazu podataka o vlasništvu i upotrebi bicikala po državama, koristeći se statističkim modeliranjem kako bi se upotpunili nedostaci u informacijama. 

 

Većina bicikli se proivede u Kini
Pokazalo se da je proizvodnja bicikala između 1962. i 2015. godine prestigla proizvodnju automobila. Više od dvije trećine od 123 milijuna bicikala proizvedenih 2015. odnosi se na Kinu. 


U časopisu Communications Earth and Environment znanstvenici su pokazali da je posjedovanje bicikala u pravilu veće u bogatijim zemljama – no tamo se više koriste i automobili. 


To pokazuje da velik broj bicikala ne znači nužno i veliku upotrebu tog vozila na dva kotača. 


Među 60 država uključenih u istraživanje, bicikli se za putovanje koriste u samo 5 posto slučajeva. Nekim državama jednostavno nedostaje bicikala, a u drugima, gdje ih ima puno, oni se koriste za rekreaciju, a manje kao sredstvo prijevoza. 


Danci i Nizozemci
Kad bi svi putovali na posao kao Danci, koji dnevno u prosjeku na biciklu prijeđu 1,6 kilometara, svijet bi mogao emitirati oko 414 milijuna tona ugljikovog dioksida manje svake godine, izračunali su znanstvenici. To odgovara godišnjim emisijama Velike Britanije.

Kad bi svi pak biciklirali koliko i Nizozemci, koji dnevno prijeđu 2,6 kilometara, svijet bi 'uštedio' 686 milijuna tona. 
"Svjetska pro-biciklistička politika i razvoj infrastrukture omogućili bi prijelaz na nizozemski i danski način i doveli do značajnih, zasad neiskorištenih dobrobiti za klimu i zdravlje", napisali su autori.


Oni smatraju da ta dvostruka korist zahtijeva bolje prikupljanje podataka o biciklima te da postoji "hitna potreba za promicanjem održive upotrebe bicikala putem politike podrške, planiranja i razvoja infrastrukture".

 

Važna uloga
Glavni autor studije, Gang Liu, profesor na Odsjeku za zelenu tehnologiju Sveučilišta Južne Danske, rekao je da je istraživanje pokazalo da bicikli u budućnosti imaju važnu ulogu u smanjenju ugljičnog otiska globalnog prometa.
Liu ističe da za promjene u prometu nije nužan samo tehnološki napredak.

 
"Potrebne su i strategije za promjene potražnje, poput alternativnih obrazaca mobilnosti  –zajednički prijevoz, prijevoz na zahtjev i dijeljenje vožnji – kao i zamjene automobila na kratkim udaljenostima vožnjom bicikla“.

Svijet bi emitirao gotovo 700 milijuna tona štetnih plinova manje svake godine - više od godišnjih emisija Kanade - kad bi se svi vozili biciklom, pokazalo je novo istraživanje.


Sektor prometa trenutno je odgovoran za gotovo četvrtinu emisija stakleničkih plinova izgaranjem goriva, piše agencija France Presse. 


Polovina tih emisija dolazi od automobila, a očekuje se da će se potražnja za prometom do sredine stoljeća utrostručiti. 
U pokušaju dekarbonizacije prometa vlade i industrije okrenule su se električnim vozilima. Samo prošle godine prodano ih je 6,75 milijuna.

Broj prodanih vozila prati se i objavljuje svake godine. Teže je pratiti proizvodnju i prodaju puno starijeg vozila s niskom emisijom štetnih plinova – bicikala.


Međunarodna skupina istraživača sada je kompilirala prvu bazu podataka o vlasništvu i upotrebi bicikala po državama, koristeći se statističkim modeliranjem kako bi se upotpunili nedostaci u informacijama. 

 

Većina bicikli se proivede u Kini
Pokazalo se da je proizvodnja bicikala između 1962. i 2015. godine prestigla proizvodnju automobila. Više od dvije trećine od 123 milijuna bicikala proizvedenih 2015. odnosi se na Kinu. 


U časopisu Communications Earth and Environment znanstvenici su pokazali da je posjedovanje bicikala u pravilu veće u bogatijim zemljama – no tamo se više koriste i automobili. 


To pokazuje da velik broj bicikala ne znači nužno i veliku upotrebu tog vozila na dva kotača. 


Među 60 država uključenih u istraživanje, bicikli se za putovanje koriste u samo 5 posto slučajeva. Nekim državama jednostavno nedostaje bicikala, a u drugima, gdje ih ima puno, oni se koriste za rekreaciju, a manje kao sredstvo prijevoza. 


Danci i Nizozemci
Kad bi svi putovali na posao kao Danci, koji dnevno u prosjeku na biciklu prijeđu 1,6 kilometara, svijet bi mogao emitirati oko 414 milijuna tona ugljikovog dioksida manje svake godine, izračunali su znanstvenici. To odgovara godišnjim emisijama Velike Britanije.

Kad bi svi pak biciklirali koliko i Nizozemci, koji dnevno prijeđu 2,6 kilometara, svijet bi 'uštedio' 686 milijuna tona. 
"Svjetska pro-biciklistička politika i razvoj infrastrukture omogućili bi prijelaz na nizozemski i danski način i doveli do značajnih, zasad neiskorištenih dobrobiti za klimu i zdravlje", napisali su autori.


Oni smatraju da ta dvostruka korist zahtijeva bolje prikupljanje podataka o biciklima te da postoji "hitna potreba za promicanjem održive upotrebe bicikala putem politike podrške, planiranja i razvoja infrastrukture".

 

Važna uloga
Glavni autor studije, Gang Liu, profesor na Odsjeku za zelenu tehnologiju Sveučilišta Južne Danske, rekao je da je istraživanje pokazalo da bicikli u budućnosti imaju važnu ulogu u smanjenju ugljičnog otiska globalnog prometa.
Liu ističe da za promjene u prometu nije nužan samo tehnološki napredak.

 
"Potrebne su i strategije za promjene potražnje, poput alternativnih obrazaca mobilnosti  –zajednički prijevoz, prijevoz na zahtjev i dijeljenje vožnji – kao i zamjene automobila na kratkim udaljenostima vožnjom bicikla“.
