Konzumacija malih riba poput inćuna i srdela umjesto crvenog mesa spasila bi 750.000 života do 2050. godine na globalnoj razini, kažu znanstvenici. Korist bi se najviše osjetila u siromašnijim zemljama, pokazala je britanska analiza, ali bi se također drastično smanjila smrtnost od srčanih bolesti u bogatijim zemljama.

Male ribe bogate su hranjivim tvarima s niskim ugljičnim otiskom, iako ih tek nešto više od četvrtine ulovljenih pojedu ljudi. Ostatak se pretvara u riblje brašno i riblje ulje, kojima se u uzgoju hrane skuplji plodovi mora poput lososa i pastrva.

"Alternativa koja obećava"

Znanstvenici su istraživali može li zamjena unosa crvenog mesa ovim ribama smanjiti stopu bolesti i spasiti živote.

Kronične bolesti čine oko 70 posto svih smrti u svijetu, kažu znanstvenici, a bolesti srca, rak crijeva, dijabetes i moždani udar gotovo polovicu (44 posto) te brojke.

Znanstvenici su projicirali potrošnju crvenog mesa u narednim desetljećima u 137 zemalja i procijenili mogućnost njihove zamjene za male ribe koristeći povijesne podatke o ribolovu. Projekcija je pokazala da bi takva zamjena mogla spriječiti između 500.000 i 750.000 smrti na globalnoj razini do 2050. godine, osobito kada su u pitanju bolesti srca.

Istraživači su priznali da mala riba nije dovoljna da zamijeni crveno meso, ali su sugerirali da bi mogla biti "alternativa koja obećava".

Naglašavaju da postoji "potreba ograničenja potrošnje crvenog mesa koje intenzivno ispušta stakleničke plinove i prelaska na hranu koja je zdrava i ekološki prihvatljiva" u pokušaju da se "smanji teret" kroničnih bolesti povezanih s prehranom u narednim desetljećima.

Konzumacija malih riba poput inćuna i srdela umjesto crvenog mesa spasila bi 750.000 života do 2050. godine na globalnoj razini, kažu znanstvenici. Korist bi se najviše osjetila u siromašnijim zemljama, pokazala je britanska analiza, ali bi se također drastično smanjila smrtnost od srčanih bolesti u bogatijim zemljama.

Male ribe bogate su hranjivim tvarima s niskim ugljičnim otiskom, iako ih tek nešto više od četvrtine ulovljenih pojedu ljudi. Ostatak se pretvara u riblje brašno i riblje ulje, kojima se u uzgoju hrane skuplji plodovi mora poput lososa i pastrva.

"Alternativa koja obećava"

Znanstvenici su istraživali može li zamjena unosa crvenog mesa ovim ribama smanjiti stopu bolesti i spasiti živote.

Znanstvenici su projicirali potrošnju crvenog mesa u narednim desetljećima u 137 zemalja i procijenili mogućnost njihove zamjene za male ribe koristeći povijesne podatke o ribolovu. Projekcija je pokazala da bi takva zamjena mogla spriječiti između 500.000 i 750.000 smrti na globalnoj razini do 2050. godine, osobito kada su u pitanju bolesti srca.

Konzumacija malih riba poput inćuna i srdela umjesto crvenog mesa spasila bi 750.000 života do 2050. godine na globalnoj razini, kažu znanstvenici. Korist bi se najviše osjetila u siromašnijim zemljama, pokazala je britanska analiza, ali bi se također drastično smanjila smrtnost od srčanih bolesti u bogatijim zemljama.

Male ribe bogate su hranjivim tvarima s niskim ugljičnim otiskom, iako ih tek nešto više od četvrtine ulovljenih pojedu ljudi. Ostatak se pretvara u riblje brašno i riblje ulje, kojima se u uzgoju hrane skuplji plodovi mora poput lososa i pastrva.

"Alternativa koja obećava"

Znanstvenici su istraživali može li zamjena unosa crvenog mesa ovim ribama smanjiti stopu bolesti i spasiti živote.

Kronične bolesti čine oko 70 posto svih smrti u svijetu, kažu znanstvenici, a bolesti srca, rak crijeva, dijabetes i moždani udar gotovo polovicu (44 posto) te brojke.

Znanstvenici su projicirali potrošnju crvenog mesa u narednim desetljećima u 137 zemalja i procijenili mogućnost njihove zamjene za male ribe koristeći povijesne podatke o ribolovu. Projekcija je pokazala da bi takva zamjena mogla spriječiti između 500.000 i 750.000 smrti na globalnoj razini do 2050. godine, osobito kada su u pitanju bolesti srca.
