Prekomjerna težina danas je manje opasna za zdravlje nego prije tridesetak godina, pokazala je studija provedena u Danskoj koja je u utorak objavljena u SAD-u.
Stručnjaci nisu pronašli pravo objašnjenje za to otkriće, ali su ustvrdili da se indeks tjelesne mase povezan s manjim rizikom smrtnosti povećao u posljednjih 30 godina, te prešao s 23,7 koliko je iznosio u razdoblju između 1976. i 1978. na 27 u razdoblju od 2003. do 2013.
Rezultati su potvrđeni kod svih dobnih skupina, i kod muškaraca i žena, a uzimani su u obzir i rizični faktori poput pušenja, kažu znanstvenici čija je studija objavljena u Časopisu američke liječničke udruge.
Ranije studije već su sugerirale da se rizik od krvožilnih bolesti smanjio među pretilima. Prosječni indeks tjelesne mase posljednjih desetljeća narastao je u većini zemalja.
Za ovu studiju, znanstvenici su slijedili tri reprezentativne skupine populacije kroz različita razdoblja.
Radi se o 13.700 osoba iz kardiovaskularne studije provedene u Kopenhagenu od 1976. do 1978., nešto manje od deset tisuća iz studije 1991.-1994. te gotovo sto tisuća iz studije na općoj populaciji provedene u Kopenhagenu 2003.-2013.
Rezultati na tim skupinama pokazuju da indeks tjelesne mase od 27 korespondira s najnižim rizikom smrtnosti od krvožilnih bolesti.
Ako ove rezultate potvrde i druge studije, tada će možda biti potrebno revidirati kriterije Svjetske zdravstvene organizacije koji definiraju pretilost. Ti kriteriji baziraju se na ranijim podacima iz 90-tih godina prošlog stoljeća.

Prekomjerna težina danas je manje opasna za zdravlje nego prije tridesetak godina, pokazala je studija provedena u Danskoj koja je u utorak objavljena u SAD-u.
Stručnjaci nisu pronašli pravo objašnjenje za to otkriće, ali su ustvrdili da se indeks tjelesne mase povezan s manjim rizikom smrtnosti povećao u posljednjih 30 godina, te prešao s 23,7 koliko je iznosio u razdoblju između 1976. i 1978. na 27 u razdoblju od 2003. do 2013.
Rezultati su potvrđeni kod svih dobnih skupina, i kod muškaraca i žena, a uzimani su u obzir i rizični faktori poput pušenja, kažu znanstvenici čija je studija objavljena u Časopisu američke liječničke udruge.
Ranije studije već su sugerirale da se rizik od krvožilnih bolesti smanjio među pretilima. Prosječni indeks tjelesne mase posljednjih desetljeća narastao je u većini zemalja.
Za ovu studiju, znanstvenici su slijedili tri reprezentativne skupine populacije kroz različita razdoblja.
Radi se o 13.700 osoba iz kardiovaskularne studije provedene u Kopenhagenu od 1976. do 1978., nešto manje od deset tisuća iz studije 1991.-1994. te gotovo sto tisuća iz studije na općoj populaciji provedene u Kopenhagenu 2003.-2013.
Rezultati na tim skupinama pokazuju da indeks tjelesne mase od 27 korespondira s najnižim rizikom smrtnosti od krvožilnih bolesti.
Ako ove rezultate potvrde i druge studije, tada će možda biti potrebno revidirati kriterije Svjetske zdravstvene organizacije koji definiraju pretilost. Ti kriteriji baziraju se na ranijim podacima iz 90-tih godina prošlog stoljeća.
