Timijan vrtni najpoznatija je biljka iz razgranatog roda timijana (Thymus).

To je mali grm porijeklom sa Sredozemlja koji naraste do 30 cm. Ima bjelkaste ili svjetloružičaste cvjetove, cvjeta od svibnja do rujna. Vrlo mu je slična bliska rođakinja majčina dušica (lat. Thymus serpyllum), imaju i jednaka svojstva, no timijanovo je djelovanje nešto intenzivnije.

Koristi se kao začin, omiljen je u marinadama, i kao ljekovita biljka.

Za liječenje su najvažniji listovi jer obiluju snažnim eteričnim uljima, piše Živim.

Spojevi u ulju poput timola, karvakrola, linalola i drugih zaslužni su za ljekovito djelovanje.

Moćno eterično ulje

Eterično ulje timijana snažan je antiseptik, baktericid i antimikotik koji se primjenjuje kod respiratornih tegoba, poput prehlade, bronhitisa, astme, upale pluća.

Ekspektorans je, što znači da potiče iskašljavanje. Timol je djelotvoran kod želučanih tegoba, bolesti crijeva, pretjeranih vjetrova, pa i protiv parazita. Upotrebljava se i protiv infekcija mokraćnih puteva, diuretik je, ublažava bolove kod PMS-a.

Zbog antivirusnog i antibakterijskog djelovanja može pomoći kod upale uha njegovi spojevi česti sastojci vodica za ispiranje usta, koristan je kod gingivitisa.

Učinkovito uklanja bakterije koje uzrokuju neugodan miris stopala. Sastav timijana ovisi o mjestu gdje raste i manjim genetskim razlikama pa može sadržavati vrlo raznolike spojeve, što dolazi do izražaja kod njegova eteričnog ulja. Zato i postoji veći broj kemotipova, primjerice timol, karvakrol, geraniol, linalol itd.

Koristi se i suhi i svježi

Osim kao eterično ulje, timijan se koristi suh i svjež, kao čaj, tinktura, u kupkama, inhalacijama, kao suplement. Poznato je njegovo umirujuće djelovanje te je dobrodošao kod uznemirenosti, anksioznosti, depresivnih stanja, kod nesanice. Poput lavande, može se staviti u jastučić za poboljšanje spavanja.

Smiruje živce. U pučkoj medicini timijan je i afrodizijak.

Smatra se i da jača imunitet i stimulira apetit, da je dobar za jetru, da pomaže ublažiti bolove kod artritisa i ishijasa. Pomoć je protiv ispadanja kose, koristi se u njezi kože s aknama i dermatitisom.

Prirodni konzervans

Pokazalo se da je bio sposoban spriječiti i pojavu sekundarne infekcije bakterijom Staphylococcus aureus. Ta se česta komplikacija pojavljuje kada natečeno tkivo "dopušta" ovoj bakteriji da prodre u kožu s površine i namnoži se u dubljim slojevima.

Vjeruje se da timijan tjera insekte, a dokazano je da njegovo ulje već u niskim koncentracijama djeluje kao prirodni konzervans hrane koji može uništiti više sojeva bakterija koje uzrokuju bolest kod ljudi.

Čaj za grlo i rane

Žličicu suhih listova timijana stavite u 2,5 dl vode, pustite da zakuha, sklonite s vatre i ostavite 10 do 15 minuta. Zasladite čaj medom i pijte protiv grlobolje ili kašlja. Nezaslađen se može koristiti za dezinfekciju rana.

Timijan vrtni najpoznatija je biljka iz razgranatog roda timijana (Thymus).

To je mali grm porijeklom sa Sredozemlja koji naraste do 30 cm. Ima bjelkaste ili svjetloružičaste cvjetove, cvjeta od svibnja do rujna. Vrlo mu je slična bliska rođakinja majčina dušica (lat. Thymus serpyllum), imaju i jednaka svojstva, no timijanovo je djelovanje nešto intenzivnije.

Koristi se kao začin, omiljen je u marinadama, i kao ljekovita biljka.

Za liječenje su najvažniji listovi jer obiluju snažnim eteričnim uljima, piše Živim.

Spojevi u ulju poput timola, karvakrola, linalola i drugih zaslužni su za ljekovito djelovanje.

Moćno eterično ulje

Eterično ulje timijana snažan je antiseptik, baktericid i antimikotik koji se primjenjuje kod respiratornih tegoba, poput prehlade, bronhitisa, astme, upale pluća.

Ekspektorans je, što znači da potiče iskašljavanje. Timol je djelotvoran kod želučanih tegoba, bolesti crijeva, pretjeranih vjetrova, pa i protiv parazita. Upotrebljava se i protiv infekcija mokraćnih puteva, diuretik je, ublažava bolove kod PMS-a.

Zbog antivirusnog i antibakterijskog djelovanja može pomoći kod upale uha njegovi spojevi česti sastojci vodica za ispiranje usta, koristan je kod gingivitisa.

Učinkovito uklanja bakterije koje uzrokuju neugodan miris stopala. Sastav timijana ovisi o mjestu gdje raste i manjim genetskim razlikama pa može sadržavati vrlo raznolike spojeve, što dolazi do izražaja kod njegova eteričnog ulja. Zato i postoji veći broj kemotipova, primjerice timol, karvakrol, geraniol, linalol itd.

Koristi se i suhi i svježi

Osim kao eterično ulje, timijan se koristi suh i svjež, kao čaj, tinktura, u kupkama, inhalacijama, kao suplement. Poznato je njegovo umirujuće djelovanje te je dobrodošao kod uznemirenosti, anksioznosti, depresivnih stanja, kod nesanice. Poput lavande, može se staviti u jastučić za poboljšanje spavanja.

Smiruje živce. U pučkoj medicini timijan je i afrodizijak.

Smatra se i da jača imunitet i stimulira apetit, da je dobar za jetru, da pomaže ublažiti bolove kod artritisa i ishijasa. Pomoć je protiv ispadanja kose, koristi se u njezi kože s aknama i dermatitisom.

Prirodni konzervans

Pokazalo se da je bio sposoban spriječiti i pojavu sekundarne infekcije bakterijom Staphylococcus aureus. Ta se česta komplikacija pojavljuje kada natečeno tkivo "dopušta" ovoj bakteriji da prodre u kožu s površine i namnoži se u dubljim slojevima.

Vjeruje se da timijan tjera insekte, a dokazano je da njegovo ulje već u niskim koncentracijama djeluje kao prirodni konzervans hrane koji može uništiti više sojeva bakterija koje uzrokuju bolest kod ljudi.

Čaj za grlo i rane

Žličicu suhih listova timijana stavite u 2,5 dl vode, pustite da zakuha, sklonite s vatre i ostavite 10 do 15 minuta. Zasladite čaj medom i pijte protiv grlobolje ili kašlja. Nezaslađen se može koristiti za dezinfekciju rana.

Timijan vrtni najpoznatija je biljka iz razgranatog roda timijana (Thymus).

To je mali grm porijeklom sa Sredozemlja koji naraste do 30 cm. Ima bjelkaste ili svjetloružičaste cvjetove, cvjeta od svibnja do rujna. Vrlo mu je slična bliska rođakinja majčina dušica (lat. Thymus serpyllum), imaju i jednaka svojstva, no timijanovo je djelovanje nešto intenzivnije.

Koristi se kao začin, omiljen je u marinadama, i kao ljekovita biljka.

Za liječenje su najvažniji listovi jer obiluju snažnim eteričnim uljima, piše Živim.
