Rijetka vrsta

Rizici za tumor

Melanom oka se javlja kad se stanice koje luče pigment u oku dijele i multipliciraju prebrzo. To dovodi do nastanka nakupine tkiva, odnosno tumora. Stručnjaci kažu da se još uvijek ne zna zašto se to točno događa, ali sljedeći faktori mogu povećati rizik za to:

1. Svijetla boja očiju – ako imate plave, sive ili zelene oči, imate veći rizik za razvoj melanoma oka u usporedbi s osobama koje imaju smeđe oči.

2. Bijela ili blijeda put – melanom oka najčešće pogađa bijelce i češći je kod osoba svijetle puti.

3. Neobični madeži – imate li madeže nepravilnog oblika ili neobične boje, imate veći rizik za razvoj raka kože i melanoma oka.

4. Koristite solarije - postoje dokazi da izlaganje ultraljubičastim zrakama u solarijima može povećati rizik za nastanak melanoma oka.

5. Prekomjerno izlaganje sunčevoj svjetlosti – to povećava rizik za razvoj raka kože, ali može biti i faktor rizika za melanom oka.

Rizik za razvoj melanoma oka povećava se i sa starosnom dobi, a većina slučajeva dijagnosticira se kod osoba u 50-im godinama života, piše Živim.

Rak oka može utjecati na vaš vid na razne načine. Rak oka je općeniti termin koji uključuje više vrsta tumora. Tip raka koji osoba ima ovisi o tipu stanice na kojoj se rak počinje razvijati. Postoje različiti dijelovi oka i na nekima od njih tumor se javlja češće nego na drugima, piše Živim.

Britanski Nacionalni zdravstveni sustav (NHS) upozorava da rak oka ne uzrokuje uvijek očite simptome te da se ponekad može otkriti samo tijekom rutinskog pregleda očiju. Simptomi raka oka uključuju sjene, bljeskove svjetlosti, vijugave linije u vidnom polju ili zamućen vid. Neki ljudi opažaju tamne mrlje u oku koje rastu ili pak imaju djelomičan ili potpun gubitak vida. Drugi simptomi uključuju ispupčenje jednog oka, kvržicu na kapku ili u oku koja se povećava ili bol u ili oko oka, iako su ti simptomi dosta rijetki.

- Mnogi od navedenih simptoma mogu biti uzrokovani manje ozbiljnim problemima i bolestima oka te ne moraju nužno značiti da je riječ o raku. Ipak, važno je da simptome provjeri liječnik i to što prije - kažu u NHS-u.

Rijetka vrsta

Rak koji se počinje razvijati u oku naziva se primarni rak oka, no ponekad se rak može proširiti u oko iz drugih dijelova tijela i tada se naziva sekundarni rak oka. Kod žena se to najčešće događa s rakom dojke, a kod muškaraca s rakom pluća. Imajte na umu da je rak oka ipak prilično rijetka bolest te da neke druge bolesti oka mogu uzrokovati mnoge od navedenih simptoma. Ipak, važno je da svaki simptom koji primijetite prijavite svom liječniku primarne zdravstvene zaštite ili optometričaru.

Optometričar je liječnik koji je specijaliziran za ispitivanje zdravlja očiju. On može dijagnosticirati stanja i bolesti oka, uključujući i rak oka te će vas uputiti oftalmologu na specijalistički postupak. Što se ranije otkrije rak oka, lakše ga je liječiti te je veća vjerojatnost da će terapija biti uspješna. Stoga biste se trebali javiti liječniku čim primijetite neku neuobičajenu pojavu u svom vidu ili oku ili ako imate neki od mogućih simptoma tumora.

Rizici za tumor

Melanom oka se javlja kad se stanice koje luče pigment u oku dijele i multipliciraju prebrzo. To dovodi do nastanka nakupine tkiva, odnosno tumora. Stručnjaci kažu da se još uvijek ne zna zašto se to točno događa, ali sljedeći faktori mogu povećati rizik za to:

1. Svijetla boja očiju – ako imate plave, sive ili zelene oči, imate veći rizik za razvoj melanoma oka u usporedbi s osobama koje imaju smeđe oči.

2. Bijela ili blijeda put – melanom oka najčešće pogađa bijelce i češći je kod osoba svijetle puti.

3. Neobični madeži – imate li madeže nepravilnog oblika ili neobične boje, imate veći rizik za razvoj raka kože i melanoma oka.

4. Koristite solarije - postoje dokazi da izlaganje ultraljubičastim zrakama u solarijima može povećati rizik za nastanak melanoma oka.

5. Prekomjerno izlaganje sunčevoj svjetlosti – to povećava rizik za razvoj raka kože, ali može biti i faktor rizika za melanom oka.

Rizik za razvoj melanoma oka povećava se i sa starosnom dobi, a većina slučajeva dijagnosticira se kod osoba u 50-im godinama života, piše Živim.
