Uporne noćne more koje se javljaju oko sedme godine djetetovog života, mogu predskazati razvoj demencije kasnije u životu, pokazala je najnovija studija.

Longitudinalna studija Sveučilišta Birmingham koja je pratila 7000 ljudi od rođenja do 50. godine života, otkrila je da su oni koji su kao djeca patili od upornih noćnih mora, kasnije imali dvostruko veći rizik od razvoja demencije. Također, kod njih je otkriveno i da su u sedam puta većoj opasnosti od razvoja Parkinsonove bolesti.

Znanstvenici su rekli da noćne more u ranom djetinjstvu remete san, zbog čega se u mozgu gomilaju štetni proteini koji mogu biti uzrok demencije, piše Jutarnji.

Smanjivanje vjerojatnosti da će dijete imati noćne more - ostavljanjem upaljenog malog noćnog svjetla, spavanjem s plišanom igračkom za tješenje ili nježnom svakodnevnom rutinom uspavljivanja - može imati višestruke prednosti za razvoj mozga djeteta.

Znanstvenici već dugo znaju da noćne more u srednjoj ili starijoj dobi mogu biti znak upozorenja da nastupa kognitivno propadanje.

Pratili ih 50 godina

No ova studija, objavljena u nedjelju na eClinicalMedicine, sugerira da se povezanost između toga dvoje može pratiti već od najranijeg djetinjstva.

Istraživači iz Birminghama analizirali su podatke iz kohortne studije o rođenima iz 1958. i djecu rođenu u tjednu nakon 3. ožujka 1958. pratili tijekom idućih 50 godina, odnosno sve do 2008.

Kad je djeci bilo sedam i 11 godina, upitali su njihove majke jesu li u posljednja tri mjeseca njihova djeca patila od noćnih mora, odnosno tzv. noćnih terora.

Djeca čiji su roditelji kazali kako su im djeca imala noćne more u oba ta razdoblja, označena su kao ona s upornim noćnim morama.

Djeca su, zatim, promatrana sve do 2008. kako bi se vidjelo ima li netko od njih dijagnozu demencije ili Parkinsonove bolesti.

Od 7000 ljudi ispitanih u studiji, njih 268 - odnosno četiri posto - imalo je uporne noćne more u djetinjstvu.

Među njima se kod njih 17 - ili šest posto - do 50. godine razvio određeni kognitivni hendikep ili Parkinsonova bolest.

Za usporedbu, među 5470 ljudi koji nisu imali noćne more, samo njih 199 - ili 3,6 posto - je kasnije patilo od demencije.

Tijekom analize, rezultati su prilagođeni s obzirom na spol, majčinu dob u trenutku rođenja djeteta, broj braće i sestara i još nekoliko faktora.

Rezultati su pokazali da su oni koji su imali uporne noćne more, u 76 posto većem riziku od razvoja kognitivnih poteškoća i čak u 640 posto u većem riziku od razvoja Parkinsonove bolesti.

Rezultati su bili slični i za djevojčice i za dječake.

Nije do kraja jasno zašto su noćne more znak upozorenja za kasniji razvoj demencije i Parkinsonove bolesti.

Međutim, neke prijašnje studije povezale su to s promjenama u strukturi mozga zbog čega su neki u većoj opasnosti od razvoja kognitivnih bolesti.

Kognitivno propadanje

Druge studije sugerirale su da oni koji imaju noćne more, imaju jako lošu kvalitetu sna, što bi moglo dovesti do postupnog nakupljanja proteina povezanih s demencijom.

Abidemi Otaiku, neurolog koji je vodio studiju, kaže da bi stvar mogla biti i u genetici jer se jedan poseban gen, nazvan PTPRJ, povezuje s lošim snovima i većim rizikom od razvoja Alzheimerove bolesti.

‘Naši rezultati sugeriraju da učestali loši snovi i noćne more tijekom djetinjstva mogu povećati rizik od razvoja progresivnih bolesti mozga poput demencije ili Parkinsonove bolesti kasnije u životu.

Ovime se također otvara intrigantna mogućnost da bi smanjenje učestalosti noćnih mora tijekom ranog života moglo biti rana prilika za sprečavanje razvoja obje bolesti‘, kaže.

‘Ako znamo da loši snovi u djetinjstvu mogu signalizirati veći rizik od demencije ili Parkinsonove bolesti kasnije u životu, možda postoji mogućnost za implementaciju jednostavnih strategija za smanjenje tih rizika‘, rekao je Otaiku.

Demencija je izraz za više oblika kognitivnog propadanja, a Alzheimerova bolest je najčešći oblik te bolesti.

Znanstvenici ne znaju što točno uzrokuje demenciju, ali se povezuje s nakupljanjem toksičnih proteina u mozgu.

Oko sedam milijuna Amerikanaca ima demenciju, ali očekuje se da će se ta brojka povećati na 12 milijuna do 2040. godine.

Sve više slučajeva pretilosti, dijabetesa i općenito sjedilački način života, također su povezani s porastom broja slučajeva.

Uporne noćne more koje se javljaju oko sedme godine djetetovog života, mogu predskazati razvoj demencije kasnije u životu, pokazala je najnovija studija.

Longitudinalna studija Sveučilišta Birmingham koja je pratila 7000 ljudi od rođenja do 50. godine života, otkrila je da su oni koji su kao djeca patili od upornih noćnih mora, kasnije imali dvostruko veći rizik od razvoja demencije. Također, kod njih je otkriveno i da su u sedam puta većoj opasnosti od razvoja Parkinsonove bolesti.

Znanstvenici su rekli da noćne more u ranom djetinjstvu remete san, zbog čega se u mozgu gomilaju štetni proteini koji mogu biti uzrok demencije, piše Jutarnji.

Smanjivanje vjerojatnosti da će dijete imati noćne more - ostavljanjem upaljenog malog noćnog svjetla, spavanjem s plišanom igračkom za tješenje ili nježnom svakodnevnom rutinom uspavljivanja - može imati višestruke prednosti za razvoj mozga djeteta.

Znanstvenici već dugo znaju da noćne more u srednjoj ili starijoj dobi mogu biti znak upozorenja da nastupa kognitivno propadanje.

Pratili ih 50 godina

No ova studija, objavljena u nedjelju na eClinicalMedicine, sugerira da se povezanost između toga dvoje može pratiti već od najranijeg djetinjstva.

Istraživači iz Birminghama analizirali su podatke iz kohortne studije o rođenima iz 1958. i djecu rođenu u tjednu nakon 3. ožujka 1958. pratili tijekom idućih 50 godina, odnosno sve do 2008.

Kad je djeci bilo sedam i 11 godina, upitali su njihove majke jesu li u posljednja tri mjeseca njihova djeca patila od noćnih mora, odnosno tzv. noćnih terora.

Djeca čiji su roditelji kazali kako su im djeca imala noćne more u oba ta razdoblja, označena su kao ona s upornim noćnim morama.

Djeca su, zatim, promatrana sve do 2008. kako bi se vidjelo ima li netko od njih dijagnozu demencije ili Parkinsonove bolesti.

Od 7000 ljudi ispitanih u studiji, njih 268 - odnosno četiri posto - imalo je uporne noćne more u djetinjstvu.

Među njima se kod njih 17 - ili šest posto - do 50. godine razvio određeni kognitivni hendikep ili Parkinsonova bolest.

Za usporedbu, među 5470 ljudi koji nisu imali noćne more, samo njih 199 - ili 3,6 posto - je kasnije patilo od demencije.

Tijekom analize, rezultati su prilagođeni s obzirom na spol, majčinu dob u trenutku rođenja djeteta, broj braće i sestara i još nekoliko faktora.

Rezultati su pokazali da su oni koji su imali uporne noćne more, u 76 posto većem riziku od razvoja kognitivnih poteškoća i čak u 640 posto u većem riziku od razvoja Parkinsonove bolesti.

Rezultati su bili slični i za djevojčice i za dječake.

Nije do kraja jasno zašto su noćne more znak upozorenja za kasniji razvoj demencije i Parkinsonove bolesti.

Međutim, neke prijašnje studije povezale su to s promjenama u strukturi mozga zbog čega su neki u većoj opasnosti od razvoja kognitivnih bolesti.

Kognitivno propadanje

Druge studije sugerirale su da oni koji imaju noćne more, imaju jako lošu kvalitetu sna, što bi moglo dovesti do postupnog nakupljanja proteina povezanih s demencijom.

Abidemi Otaiku, neurolog koji je vodio studiju, kaže da bi stvar mogla biti i u genetici jer se jedan poseban gen, nazvan PTPRJ, povezuje s lošim snovima i većim rizikom od razvoja Alzheimerove bolesti.

‘Naši rezultati sugeriraju da učestali loši snovi i noćne more tijekom djetinjstva mogu povećati rizik od razvoja progresivnih bolesti mozga poput demencije ili Parkinsonove bolesti kasnije u životu.

Ovime se također otvara intrigantna mogućnost da bi smanjenje učestalosti noćnih mora tijekom ranog života moglo biti rana prilika za sprečavanje razvoja obje bolesti‘, kaže.

‘Ako znamo da loši snovi u djetinjstvu mogu signalizirati veći rizik od demencije ili Parkinsonove bolesti kasnije u životu, možda postoji mogućnost za implementaciju jednostavnih strategija za smanjenje tih rizika‘, rekao je Otaiku.

Demencija je izraz za više oblika kognitivnog propadanja, a Alzheimerova bolest je najčešći oblik te bolesti.

Znanstvenici ne znaju što točno uzrokuje demenciju, ali se povezuje s nakupljanjem toksičnih proteina u mozgu.

Oko sedam milijuna Amerikanaca ima demenciju, ali očekuje se da će se ta brojka povećati na 12 milijuna do 2040. godine.

Sve više slučajeva pretilosti, dijabetesa i općenito sjedilački način života, također su povezani s porastom broja slučajeva.
