Prvi put u zadnjih pola stoljeća, otkako je Dan planeta Zemlje unesen u kalendar svijeta, zemaljska je kugla “zaključana” pandemijom te se 22. travnja milijuni ljudi širom svijeta neće naći na trgovima i ulicama i pokazati brigu za okoliš.

Dan planeta Zemlje počeo se obilježavati 1970. u Americi, a relativno brzo postao je opći, nadnacionalni dan svijesti o važnosti planeta na kojem živimo i svijesti da je čovjek najveći neprijatelj sebi i svemu što ga okružuje.

Naime, američki senator Gaylord Nelson, zgrozivši se nad posljedicama izljeva nafte uz obalu Kalifornije 1969., izborio se za to da se 22. travnja proglasi nacionalnim danom proslave planeta Zemlje.

Ujedinjeni narodi su prije 11 godina Earth Day proglasili međunarodnim, a obilježava se u više od 190 zemalja diljem svijeta, svake godine s posebnim fokusom na određeni problem, ali uvijek s istim ciljem – promišljanje i eventualno smanjivanje čovjekova štetnog utjecaja na okoliš.

Ove godine, međutim, obilježavanje Dana planeta Zemlje, kao i sve ostalo, prolazi u znaku digitalnog okupljanja u virtualnom svijetu interneta.

Ovogodišnja središnja tema u žarištu su klimatske promjene i akcije koje bi se trebale provoditi kako bi one što manje utjecale na okoliš i čovječanstvo, premda se osjećaju u svim dijelovima svijeta.

Polarne ledene ploče tope se, a razina mora raste, u nekim regijama sve češće dolazi do ekstremnih vremenskih uvjeta i kiša, dok se u drugima javljaju sve intenzivniji toplinski valovi i suše.

Gradnja otpornijeg društva

Klimatske promjene događaju se vrlo brzo te se brojne biljke i životinje teško prilagođavaju, a mnoge kopnene, slatkovodne i morske vrste već su se preselile na nova staništa. Ili u sjećanje...

Ako prosječne temperature na svjetskoj razini budu i dalje nekontrolirano rasle, još će mnoge biljne i životinjske vrste biti izložene povećanom riziku od izumiranja.

No, ni čovjek se trenutačno ne osjeća baš najbolje premda, naravno, njeguje nadu da će pandemija koronavirusa brzo proći te da će se čovječanstvo moći uskoro vratiti “normalnom životu”. No kakav bi taj normalan život trebao biti nakon pandemije?

- Nakon krize doći će vrijeme obnove. Prijelaz na klimatski neutralno gospodarstvo, zaštita biološke raznolikosti i transformacija poljoprivredno-prehrambenog sustava mogli bi u kratkom roku osigurati radna mjesta, rast… i pridonijeti izgradnji otpornijeg društva - poručilo je nedavno u otvorenom pismu 180 parlamentarnih zastupnika, poslovnih lidera, sindikata i istraživačkih instituta koji traže da mjere oporavka nakon korone budu fokusirane na ekološki održivije gospodarstvo.

Potpisnici ovog apela su ministri deset zemalja EU-a, od Italije od Luksemburga - ne, nema Hrvatske, predsjedavajuće Vijećem Europe! - kao i 79 zastupnika u Europskom parlamentu, te izvršni direktori nekih moćnih kompanija, poput “L’Oreala”, “Ikee” ili “Danonea”.

Sustavna AKCIJA

Upozoravajući na to da je pandemija koronavirusa u gospodarstvu prouzročila veći šok nego financijska kriza 2008. godine, potpisnici ističu da bi mjere pomoći trebale poduprijeti i realizaciju europskog Green Deala, plana kojim bi neto emisija stakleničkih plinova do 2050. trebala biti svedena na nulu.

- Klimatska kriza nije jenjala zbog krize koronavirusa. Budemo li nakon krize okrenuli gospodarstvo u krivom smjeru, udarit ćemo u zid klimatske krize - upozorio je Pascal Canfin, zastupnik francuskih liberala u Europskom parlamentu.

Početkom godine, prije negoli je korona stigla u Europu, i velika skupina hrvatskih znanstvenika, njih 555, okupljenih u inicijativu Znanstvenici Republike Hrvatske za klimu, uputila je apel za sustavnu klimatsku akciju s ciljem osvještavanja problema klimatske krize i djelovanja protiv daljnjeg pogoršanja globalnih klimatskih promjena.

Ugledni znanstvenici s najvećih hrvatskih sveučilišta i instituta u apelu su podcrtali da klimatske promjene predstavljaju izvanredno stanje te najozbiljniju i najkompleksniju krizu kojoj je čovječanstvo u cjelini ikada bilo izloženo te su pozvali nadležne institucije da pokrenu konkretne i ambiciozne mjere za rješavanje tog problema.

Apel su, u popriličnoj medijskoj tišini, kakva i inače prati ekologiju i za klimu zabrinute pojedince - kad već ne možemo svi biti Greta Thunberg! - predali Vladi, premijeru, Saboru i Ministarstvu zaštite okoliša i energetike.

Prvi put u zadnjih pola stoljeća, otkako je Dan planeta Zemlje unesen u kalendar svijeta, zemaljska je kugla “zaključana” pandemijom te se 22. travnja milijuni ljudi širom svijeta neće naći na trgovima i ulicama i pokazati brigu za okoliš.

Dan planeta Zemlje počeo se obilježavati 1970. u Americi, a relativno brzo postao je opći, nadnacionalni dan svijesti o važnosti planeta na kojem živimo i svijesti da je čovjek najveći neprijatelj sebi i svemu što ga okružuje.

Naime, američki senator Gaylord Nelson, zgrozivši se nad posljedicama izljeva nafte uz obalu Kalifornije 1969., izborio se za to da se 22. travnja proglasi nacionalnim danom proslave planeta Zemlje.

Ujedinjeni narodi su prije 11 godina Earth Day proglasili međunarodnim, a obilježava se u više od 190 zemalja diljem svijeta, svake godine s posebnim fokusom na određeni problem, ali uvijek s istim ciljem – promišljanje i eventualno smanjivanje čovjekova štetnog utjecaja na okoliš.

Ove godine, međutim, obilježavanje Dana planeta Zemlje, kao i sve ostalo, prolazi u znaku digitalnog okupljanja u virtualnom svijetu interneta.

Ovogodišnja središnja tema u žarištu su klimatske promjene i akcije koje bi se trebale provoditi kako bi one što manje utjecale na okoliš i čovječanstvo, premda se osjećaju u svim dijelovima svijeta.

Polarne ledene ploče tope se, a razina mora raste, u nekim regijama sve češće dolazi do ekstremnih vremenskih uvjeta i kiša, dok se u drugima javljaju sve intenzivniji toplinski valovi i suše.

Gradnja otpornijeg društva

Klimatske promjene događaju se vrlo brzo te se brojne biljke i životinje teško prilagođavaju, a mnoge kopnene, slatkovodne i morske vrste već su se preselile na nova staništa. Ili u sjećanje...

Ako prosječne temperature na svjetskoj razini budu i dalje nekontrolirano rasle, još će mnoge biljne i životinjske vrste biti izložene povećanom riziku od izumiranja.

No, ni čovjek se trenutačno ne osjeća baš najbolje premda, naravno, njeguje nadu da će pandemija koronavirusa brzo proći te da će se čovječanstvo moći uskoro vratiti “normalnom životu”. No kakav bi taj normalan život trebao biti nakon pandemije?

- Nakon krize doći će vrijeme obnove. Prijelaz na klimatski neutralno gospodarstvo, zaštita biološke raznolikosti i transformacija poljoprivredno-prehrambenog sustava mogli bi u kratkom roku osigurati radna mjesta, rast… i pridonijeti izgradnji otpornijeg društva - poručilo je nedavno u otvorenom pismu 180 parlamentarnih zastupnika, poslovnih lidera, sindikata i istraživačkih instituta koji traže da mjere oporavka nakon korone budu fokusirane na ekološki održivije gospodarstvo.

Potpisnici ovog apela su ministri deset zemalja EU-a, od Italije od Luksemburga - ne, nema Hrvatske, predsjedavajuće Vijećem Europe! - kao i 79 zastupnika u Europskom parlamentu, te izvršni direktori nekih moćnih kompanija, poput “L’Oreala”, “Ikee” ili “Danonea”.

Sustavna AKCIJA

Upozoravajući na to da je pandemija koronavirusa u gospodarstvu prouzročila veći šok nego financijska kriza 2008. godine, potpisnici ističu da bi mjere pomoći trebale poduprijeti i realizaciju europskog Green Deala, plana kojim bi neto emisija stakleničkih plinova do 2050. trebala biti svedena na nulu.

- Klimatska kriza nije jenjala zbog krize koronavirusa. Budemo li nakon krize okrenuli gospodarstvo u krivom smjeru, udarit ćemo u zid klimatske krize - upozorio je Pascal Canfin, zastupnik francuskih liberala u Europskom parlamentu.

Početkom godine, prije negoli je korona stigla u Europu, i velika skupina hrvatskih znanstvenika, njih 555, okupljenih u inicijativu Znanstvenici Republike Hrvatske za klimu, uputila je apel za sustavnu klimatsku akciju s ciljem osvještavanja problema klimatske krize i djelovanja protiv daljnjeg pogoršanja globalnih klimatskih promjena.

Ugledni znanstvenici s najvećih hrvatskih sveučilišta i instituta u apelu su podcrtali da klimatske promjene predstavljaju izvanredno stanje te najozbiljniju i najkompleksniju krizu kojoj je čovječanstvo u cjelini ikada bilo izloženo te su pozvali nadležne institucije da pokrenu konkretne i ambiciozne mjere za rješavanje tog problema.

Apel su, u popriličnoj medijskoj tišini, kakva i inače prati ekologiju i za klimu zabrinute pojedince - kad već ne možemo svi biti Greta Thunberg! - predali Vladi, premijeru, Saboru i Ministarstvu zaštite okoliša i energetike.

Prvi put u zadnjih pola stoljeća, otkako je Dan planeta Zemlje unesen u kalendar svijeta, zemaljska je kugla “zaključana” pandemijom te se 22. travnja milijuni ljudi širom svijeta neće naći na trgovima i ulicama i pokazati brigu za okoliš.

Dan planeta Zemlje počeo se obilježavati 1970. u Americi, a relativno brzo postao je opći, nadnacionalni dan svijesti o važnosti planeta na kojem živimo i svijesti da je čovjek najveći neprijatelj sebi i svemu što ga okružuje.

Naime, američki senator Gaylord Nelson, zgrozivši se nad posljedicama izljeva nafte uz obalu Kalifornije 1969., izborio se za to da se 22. travnja proglasi nacionalnim danom proslave planeta Zemlje.

Ujedinjeni narodi su prije 11 godina Earth Day proglasili međunarodnim, a obilježava se u više od 190 zemalja dil...
