Do medija je, prenosi agencija AFP, došla informacija da je Botha trenutno optužen za čak sedam pokušaja ubojstva. Navodno je 2009. pijan, zajedno s još dva policajca, otvorio paljbu na taksi minibus pun ljudi. Sva trojica su uhićena 2011. godine, no optužbe su bile odbačene - sve do jučer, kada su ponovno podignute.
Južnoafrička policija potvrdila je ovu informaciju te dodala da će Botha unatoč tome ostati zadužen za istragu smrti Reeve Steenkamp. On je, inače, bio prvi policajac koji se pojavio na mjestu zločina.
- Odlučili smo svakog od njih optužiti za sedam pokušaja ubojstva jer je toliko ljudi bilo u taksiju. No, svatko je nevin dok mu se ne dokaže krivnja. Njegova postaja odabrala ga je za voditelja istrage jer je iskusan policajac - rekao je glasnogovornik policije Neville Malila.
Za Bothinu optužnicu nije znala ni Pistoriusova optužba, koja nije
sigurna kako će se ta činjenica odraziti na dalji tijek suđenja.
Hilton Botha je do sada već izazvao nekoliko kontroverzi. Njegova izjava da su u Pistoriusovoj kući pronađeni steroidi primljena je s rezervom jer policija još uvijek nije dobila nikakve forenzičke nalaze iz kuće. Osim toga, pogrešno je naveo udaljenost s koje je glavni svjedok optužbe navodno čuo pucnjeve i vriskove - najprije je tvrdi da se radilo o 300 metara, da bi se kasnije ispostavilo kako se radilo o susjedu iz kuće udaljene čak 600 metara od paraolimpijčeve.
I na jučerašnjem saslušanju privukao je pažnju javnosti inzistiranjem na produženju pritvora Pistoriusu, jer je, kada ga je sudac Desmond Nair pitao misli li ozbiljno da
bi netko čije je lice međunarodno poznato, tko nema dvije noge i hoda
na protezama, pokušao pobjeći, odgovorio s "da" i izazvao smijeh u sudnici.
Botha je izjavio da je devastiran ponovnim podizanjem optužbi zbog pucnjave na minibus te
istaknuo da nije bio pijan i da je lovio osumnjičene za ubojstvo.

[text] => {OCMSplitter} Glavni istražitelj u slučaju kobne pucnjave u kući paraolimpijca Oscara Pistoriusa, južnoafrički inspektor Hilton Botha, i sam je u sukobu sa zakonom - i još kako. Do medija je, prenosi agencija AFP, došla informacija da je Botha trenutno optužen za čak sedam pokušaja ubojstva. Navodno je 2009. pijan, zajedno s još dva policajca, otvorio paljbu na taksi minibus pun ljudi. Sva trojica su uhićena 2011. godine, no optužbe su bile odbačene - sve do jučer, kada su ponovno podignute.
Južnoafrička policija potvrdila je ovu informaciju te dodala da će Botha unatoč tome ostati zadužen za istragu smrti Reeve Steenkamp. On je, inače, bio prvi policajac koji se pojavio na mjestu zločina.
- Odlučili smo svakog od njih optužiti za sedam pokušaja ubojstva jer je toliko ljudi bilo u taksiju. No, svatko je nevin dok mu se ne dokaže krivnja. Njegova postaja odabrala ga je za voditelja istrage jer je iskusan policajac - rekao je glasnogovornik policije Neville Malila.
Za Bothinu optužnicu nije znala ni Pistoriusova optužba, koja nije
sigurna kako će se ta činjenica odraziti na dalji tijek suđenja.
Hilton Botha je do sada već izazvao nekoliko kontroverzi. Njegova izjava da su u Pistoriusovoj kući pronađeni steroidi primljena je s rezervom jer policija još uvijek nije dobila nikakve forenzičke nalaze iz kuće. Osim toga, pogrešno je naveo udaljenost s koje je glavni svjedok optužbe navodno čuo pucnjeve i vriskove - najprije je tvrdi da se radilo o 300 metara, da bi se kasnije ispostavilo kako se radilo o susjedu iz kuće udaljene čak 600 metara od paraolimpijčeve.
I na jučerašnjem saslušanju privukao je pažnju javnosti inzistiranjem na produženju pritvora Pistoriusu, jer je, kada ga je sudac Desmond Nair pitao misli li ozbiljno da
bi netko čije je lice međunarodno poznato, tko nema dvije noge i hoda
na protezama, pokušao pobjeći, odgovorio s "da" i izazvao smijeh u sudnici.
Botha je izjavio da je devastiran ponovnim podizanjem optužbi zbog pucnjave na minibus te
istaknuo da nije bio pijan i da je lovio osumnjičene za ubojstvo.
