Clay Cockrell je psihoterapeut nekih od najbogatijih ljudi na svijetu, a za The Guardian je objasnio kako njihov život zapravo izgleda. 

- Da sam dobio dolar za svaki put kada čujem izraz "first world problems", moj bankovni račun bi izgledao slično kao i računi mojih klijenata. Radim kao psihoterapeut i moja specijalnost su pojedinci s iznimno visokim prihodima. Slučajno sam počeo raditi s milijarderima. Imao sam jednog bogatog klijenta, koji je moje ime prenosio svojim poznanicima. Zovu ih 1% s razlogom: nema ih toliko pa je krug tijesan. Tijekom godina razvio sam veliku dozu empatije prema onima koji imaju previše. Televizijski program Succession, koji je sada u svojoj trećoj sezoni, radi tako dobar posao u istraživanju vrsta toksičnih ekscesa s kojima se moji klijenti bore da kada ga moja žena gleda moram napustiti sobu; jednostavno imam dojam da se radi o mom poslu, kazao je psihoterapeut. 

Što bi moglo biti izazovno u tome da ste milijarder, pitat ćete se. Pa, što bi bilo da ne možete vjerovati onima koji su vam bliski? Ili ako ste na bilo koju novu osobu u svom životu gledali s dubokom sumnjom? Od svojih klijenata stalno čujem: “Što hoće od mene?”; ili “Kako će manipulirati sa mnom?”; ili "Vjerojatno su prijatelji sa mnom samo zbog mog novca."

Zatim, tu su i borbe sa svrhom – depresija koja nastupa kada se osjećate kao da nemate razloga ustati iz kreveta. Zašto se truditi ići na posao kada posao koji ste izgradili ili naslijedili sada radi sam bez vas? Kad bi sve vaše potrebe i još mnogo toga bile pokrivene do kraja života - i vi biste se mogli boriti s nedostatkom smisla i ambicija. Mojim klijentima je život često dosadan i previše puta to ih dovodi do toga da jure za sljedećim vrhom – kemijski ili na neki drugi način – kako bi popunili tu prazninu.

Većina ljudi koje vidim puno je spremnija govoriti o svom seksualnom životu ili problemima zlouporabe supstanci nego o svojim bankovnim računima. Novac se smatra prljavim i tajnim. O novcu je nezgodno govoriti. Novac je umotan u krivnju, sram i strah. Postoji percepcija da vas novac može imunizirati protiv psihičkih problema, dok zapravo vjerujem da bogatstvo može učiniti vas – i ljude koji su vam najbliži – mnogo osjetljivijim na njih. Stalno vidim obiteljske situacije poput onih u seriji.

Ljudi poput glavnog lika serije, Logana Roya, koji je imao skromne početke da bi kasnije stvorio nevjerojatno uspješno medijsko carstvo. Cijeli njegov život bio je usmjeren na posao. Međutim, evidentno je da nije uspio u odgoju potpuno funkcionalne djece. Previše mojih klijenata želi ugoditi svojoj djeci tako da “nikad ne moraju trpjeti ono što sam ja morao trpjeti” dok su odrastali. Ali rezultat je da oni sprječavaju svoju djecu da iskuse upravo ono što ih je učinilo uspješnim: žrtvovanje, naporan rad, prevladavanje neuspjeha i razvijanje otpornosti. 

Ova vrlo bogata djeca počinju odlaskom u elitne internate i prelaze na elitna sveučilišta – razvijajući jezik i kulturu među vlastitom vrstom. Rijetko stvaraju prijateljstva s neimućnim ljudima; to može dovesti do osjećaja izolacije i zarobljenosti unutar vrlo malog mjehurića. Malo je ljudi na svijetu s kojima se zapravo mogu povezati, što naravno dovodi do nedostatka empatije. Sljedeći put kada gledate Succession, pogledajte kako Royevi komuniciraju sa svojim osobljem i drugima izvan njihovog kruga. Primijetite nespretnost i nedostatak ljudske povezanosti i kako se užasno odnose jedni prema drugima. Fascinantno je i zastrašujuće. Kada netko vodi život bez posljedica (na primjer, bude nepristojan prema konobaru ili okrutan prema bratu ili sestri), stvarno nema razloga da to ne učini.

Nakon nekog vremena to se normalizira i prihvaća. Živjeti život bez pravila nije dobro nikome. Serija je izgrađena na ideji grupe bogate djece koja se natječu tko će uzeti plašt od njihovog oca - nitko od njih ga nije u stanju uvjeriti da to mogu. A to je zato što su odrasli potpuno nespremni preuzeti bilo kakvu odgovornost. Bogati roditelji koje vidim, često zbog vlastite krivnje i srama, ne pripremaju svoju djecu za izazove upravljanja svojim bogatstvom. Ima istine u staroj poslovici "rukavi košulje do rukava košulje u tri generacije".

U više navrata mi je dijete iz bogate obitelji reklo: “Nikad nismo razgovarali o novcu. Ne znam koliko toga ima niti što bih trebao učiniti s tim. Ne znam kako se brinuti o tome. Sve je tako tajno i prljavo, zaključio je psihoterapeut.

Clay Cockrell je psihoterapeut nekih od najbogatijih ljudi na svijetu, a za The Guardian je objasnio kako njihov život zapravo izgleda. 

- Da sam dobio dolar za svaki put kada čujem izraz "first world problems", moj bankovni račun bi izgledao slično kao i računi mojih klijenata. Radim kao psihoterapeut i moja specijalnost su pojedinci s iznimno visokim prihodima. Slučajno sam počeo raditi s milijarderima. Imao sam jednog bogatog klijenta, koji je moje ime prenosio svojim poznanicima. Zovu ih 1% s razlogom: nema ih toliko pa je krug tijesan. Tijekom godina razvio sam veliku dozu empatije prema onima koji imaju previše. Televizijski program Succession, koji je sada u svojoj trećoj sezoni, radi tako dobar posao u istraživanju vrsta toksičnih ekscesa s kojima se moji klijenti bore da kada ga moja žena gleda moram napustiti sobu; jednostavno imam dojam da se radi o mom poslu, kazao je psihoterapeut. 

Što bi moglo biti izazovno u tome da ste milijarder, pitat ćete se. Pa, što bi bilo da ne možete vjerovati onima koji su vam bliski? Ili ako ste na bilo koju novu osobu u svom životu gledali s dubokom sumnjom? Od svojih klijenata stalno čujem: “Što hoće od mene?”; ili “Kako će manipulirati sa mnom?”; ili "Vjerojatno su prijatelji sa mnom samo zbog mog novca."

Zatim, tu su i borbe sa svrhom – depresija koja nastupa kada se osjećate kao da nemate razloga ustati iz kreveta. Zašto se truditi ići na posao kada posao koji ste izgradili ili naslijedili sada radi sam bez vas? Kad bi sve vaše potrebe i još mnogo toga bile pokrivene do kraja života - i vi biste se mogli boriti s nedostatkom smisla i ambicija. Mojim klijentima je život često dosadan i previše puta to ih dovodi do toga da jure za sljedećim vrhom – kemijski ili na neki drugi način – kako bi popunili tu prazninu.

Većina ljudi koje vidim puno je spremnija govoriti o svom seksualnom životu ili problemima zlouporabe supstanci nego o svojim bankovnim računima. Novac se smatra prljavim i tajnim. O novcu je nezgodno govoriti. Novac je umotan u krivnju, sram i strah. Postoji percepcija da vas novac može imunizirati protiv psihičkih problema, dok zapravo vjerujem da bogatstvo može učiniti vas – i ljude koji su vam najbliži – mnogo osjetljivijim na njih. Stalno vidim obiteljske situacije poput onih u seriji.

Ljudi poput glavnog lika serije, Logana Roya, koji je imao skromne početke da bi kasnije stvorio nevjerojatno uspješno medijsko carstvo. Cijeli njegov život bio je usmjeren na posao. Međutim, evidentno je da nije uspio u odgoju potpuno funkcionalne djece. Previše mojih klijenata želi ugoditi svojoj djeci tako da “nikad ne moraju trpjeti ono što sam ja morao trpjeti” dok su odrastali. Ali rezultat je da oni sprječavaju svoju djecu da iskuse upravo ono što ih je učinilo uspješnim: žrtvovanje, naporan rad, prevladavanje neuspjeha i razvijanje otpornosti. 

Ova vrlo bogata djeca počinju odlaskom u elitne internate i prelaze na elitna sveučilišta – razvijajući jezik i kulturu među vlastitom vrstom. Rijetko stvaraju prijateljstva s neimućnim ljudima; to može dovesti do osjećaja izolacije i zarobljenosti unutar vrlo malog mjehurića. Malo je ljudi na svijetu s kojima se zapravo mogu povezati, što naravno dovodi do nedostatka empatije. Sljedeći put kada gledate Succession, pogledajte kako Royevi komuniciraju sa svojim osobljem i drugima izvan njihovog kruga. Primijetite nespretnost i nedostatak ljudske povezanosti i kako se užasno odnose jedni prema drugima. Fascinantno je i zastrašujuće. Kada netko vodi život bez posljedica (na primjer, bude nepristojan prema konobaru ili okrutan prema bratu ili sestri), stvarno nema razloga da to ne učini.

Nakon nekog vremena to se normalizira i prihvaća. Živjeti život bez pravila nije dobro nikome. Serija je izgrađena na ideji grupe bogate djece koja se natječu tko će uzeti plašt od njihovog oca - nitko od njih ga nije u stanju uvjeriti da to mogu. A to je zato što su odrasli potpuno nespremni preuzeti bilo kakvu odgovornost. Bogati roditelji koje vidim, često zbog vlastite krivnje i srama, ne pripremaju svoju djecu za izazove upravljanja svojim bogatstvom. Ima istine u staroj poslovici "rukavi košulje do rukava košulje u tri generacije".

U više navrata mi je dijete iz bogate obitelji reklo: “Nikad nismo razgovarali o novcu. Ne znam koliko toga ima niti što bih trebao učiniti s tim. Ne znam kako se brinuti o tome. Sve je tako tajno i prljavo, zaključio je psihoterapeut.

Clay Cockrell je psihoterapeut nekih od najbogatijih ljudi na svijetu, a za The Guardian je objasnio kako njihov život zapravo izgleda. 

- Da sam dobio dolar za svaki put kada čujem izraz "first world problems", moj bankovni račun bi izgledao slično kao i računi mojih klijenata. Radim kao psihoterapeut i moja specijalnost su pojedinci s iznimno visokim prihodima. Slučajno sam počeo raditi s milijarderima. Imao sam jednog bogatog klijenta, koji je moje ime prenosio svojim poznanicima. Zovu ih 1% s razlogom: nema ih toliko pa je krug tijesan. Tijekom godina razvio sam veliku dozu empatije prema onima koji imaju previše.
