Od neizvjesnosti do ushita, pa povratak – od euforije do razočaranja! U svega tri dana. To je put hrvatske reprezentacije na kvalifikacijskoj turi po Slovačkoj i Azerbajdžanu.
Bilo je za pretpostaviti da hrvatska momčad neće energetski izdržati dvije tako zahtjevne (gostujuće) utakmice u samo tri dana. No, očekivali smo da će nakon maksimalne potrošnje u Trnavi, izdržati u Bakuu ipak duže od uvodnih dvadesetak minuta.
Otvaranje utakmice bilo je prema željama hrvatskih navijača: gol Modrića donio je mir i stabilnost u igri hrvatske momčadi. Uslijedilo je nekoliko impresivnih akcija i dva ''zicera'' Ante Rebića. Iskreno, od napadača Milana očekuje se realizacija u ovakvim situacijama. S 2:0 (ili 3:0) utakmica bi praktički bila riješena. Možda bi se do konca utakmice rezultat ''popeo'' i do – 5:1. Tim je omjerom, naime, Slovačka deklasirala Azerbajdžan prije mjesec dana, na istom mjestu.
Dvije obrane debitanta Emila Balajeva (uvođenje vratara bez reprezentativnog iskustva bio je vrlo smioni potez Nikole Jurčevića) podigle su samopouzdanje domaćoj momčadi. Azeri su hendikep kvalitete nadomjestili dodatnom žustrinom i požrtvovnošću. Kako je igra odmicala tako se težište igre sve više približavalo šesnaestercu hrvatske reprezentacije...
Mnoštvo izgubljenih duela, ali i dva poništena gola nogometašima Azerbejdžana (zbog zaleđa) morala su upaliti alarm na klupi hrvatske reprezentacije. Bilo je evidentno da hrvatska momčad gubi kompaktnost linija, da srednji red ''vatrenih'' sve teže povezuje niti napadačkih i obrambenih segmenata.
U Trnavi smo konstatirali kako je trojac Modrić – Brozović – Vlašić osujetio igru protivnika i zakamuflirao evidentne nedostatke u prezentaciji obrambene formacije. U Bakuu je izostala ''slovačka rapsodija'' i hrvatska je obrana djelovala vrlo ranjivo i nedorečeno. Protiv Slovačke je Brozović bio našim najboljim obrambenim igračem. U Bakuu se nakon njegovog kiksa neki Halilzade gotovo ušetao u mrežu iza Livakovića...
Upravo je spomenuti Halilzade paradigma ''pozitivne trenerske intuicije''. Nakon svake izmjene Nikole Jurčevića momčad Azerbajdžana podigla je razinu igre. Nažalost, Zlatko Dalić reagirao je tek kada se na semaforu zrcalilo – 1:1, a na travnjaku očitovala frustrirajuća nemoć njegove momčadi.

Od neizvjesnosti do ushita, pa povratak – od euforije do razočaranja! U svega tri dana. To je put hrvatske reprezentacije na kvalifikacijskoj turi po Slovačkoj i Azerbajdžanu.
Bilo je za pretpostaviti da hrvatska momčad neće energetski izdržati dvije tako zahtjevne (gostujuće) utakmice u samo tri dana. No, očekivali smo da će nakon maksimalne potrošnje u Trnavi, izdržati u Bakuu ipak duže od uvodnih dvadesetak minuta.
Otvaranje utakmice bilo je prema željama hrvatskih navijača: gol Modrića donio je mir i stabilnost u igri hrvatske momčadi. Uslijedilo je nekoliko impresivnih akcija i dva ''zicera'' Ante Rebića. Iskreno, od napadača Milana očekuje se realizacija u ovakvim situacijama. S 2:0 (ili 3:0) utakmica bi praktički bila riješena. Možda bi se do konca utakmice rezultat ''popeo'' i do – 5:1. Tim je omjerom, naime, Slovačka deklasirala Azerbajdžan prije mjesec dana, na istom mjestu.
Dvije obrane debitanta Emila Balajeva (uvođenje vratara bez reprezentativnog iskustva bio je vrlo smioni potez Nikole Jurčevića) podigle su samopouzdanje domaćoj momčadi. Azeri su hendikep kvalitete nadomjestili dodatnom žustrinom i požrtvovnošću. Kako je igra odmicala tako se težište igre sve više približavalo šesnaestercu hrvatske reprezentacije...
Mnoštvo izgubljenih duela, ali i dva poništena gola nogometašima Azerbejdžana (zbog zaleđa) morala su upaliti alarm na klupi hrvatske reprezentacije. Bilo je evidentno da hrvatska momčad gubi kompaktnost linija, da srednji red ''vatrenih'' sve teže povezuje niti napadačkih i obrambenih segmenata.
U Trnavi smo konstatirali kako je trojac Modrić – Brozović – Vlašić osujetio igru protivnika i zakamuflirao evidentne nedostatke u prezentaciji obrambene formacije. U Bakuu je izostala ''slovačka rapsodija'' i hrvatska je obrana djelovala vrlo ranjivo i nedorečeno. Protiv Slovačke je Brozović bio našim najboljim obrambenim igračem. U Bakuu se nakon njegovog kiksa neki Halilzade gotovo ušetao u mrežu iza Livakovića...
Upravo je spomenuti Halilzade paradigma ''pozitivne trenerske intuicije''. Nakon svake izmjene Nikole Jurčevića momčad Azerbajdžana podigla je razinu igre. Nažalost, Zlatko Dalić reagirao je tek kada se na semaforu zrcalilo – 1:1, a na travnjaku očitovala frustrirajuća nemoć njegove momčadi.
