Gvinejski sportaši neće sudjelovati na Olimpijskim igrama u Tokiju zbog pandemije COVID-19, najavljeno je.

Ukupno je pet sportaša trebalo predstavljati ovu zapadnoafričku državu na Igrama. Međutim, gvinejski ministar sporta Sanoussy Bantama Sow kazao je kako njegova zemlja neće sudjelovati zbog "ponovnog oživljavanja inačica COVID-19".

Sow je odluku objasnio u pismu upućenom predsjedniku Nacionalnog olimpijskog odbora Nabiju Camiri, navodi se u izvještaju agencije AFP.

"Zbog ponovnog oživljavanja inačica COVID-19, vlada, zabrinuta za očuvanje zdravlja gvinejskih sportaša, sa žaljenjem je odlučila otkazati gvinejsko sudjelovanje na Olimpijskim igrama u Tokiju", napisao je Sow.

Međutim, neimenovani izvor AFP-a blizak vlastima u Conakryju, rekao je da su razlozi prvenstveno financijski i da ministarstvo sporta ne može platiti troškove smještaja i putovanja u Japan za svih pet sportaša u zemlji.

Na igrama bi trebali nastupiti Fatoumata Yarie Camara (hrvanje), Mamadou Samba Bah (džudo), Fatoumata Lamarana Toure i Mamadou Tahirou Bah (plivanje) i Aissata Deen Conte (atletika).

To će biti prvi put da Gvineja nije sudjelovala na Igrama od Montreala 1976. godine. Gvineja još nije osvojila medalju u 11 nastupa na Olimpijskim igrama.

U travnju je i Sjeverna Koreja otkazala sudjelovanje na igrama u Tokiju navodeći kao razlog novu pandemiju koronavirusa.

Gvinejski sportaši neće sudjelovati na Olimpijskim igrama u Tokiju zbog pandemije COVID-19, najavljeno je.

Ukupno je pet sportaša trebalo predstavljati ovu zapadnoafričku državu na Igrama. Međutim, gvinejski ministar sporta Sanoussy Bantama Sow kazao je kako njegova zemlja neće sudjelovati zbog "ponovnog oživljavanja inačica COVID-19".

Sow je odluku objasnio u pismu upućenom predsjedniku Nacionalnog olimpijskog odbora Nabiju Camiri, navodi se u izvještaju agencije AFP.

"Zbog ponovnog oživljavanja inačica COVID-19, vlada, zabrinuta za očuvanje zdravlja gvinejskih sportaša, sa žaljenjem je odlučila otkazati gvinejsko sudjelovanje na Olimpijskim igrama u Tokiju", napisao je Sow.

Međutim, neimenovani izvor AFP-a blizak vlastima u Conakryju, rekao je da su razlozi prvenstveno financijski i da ministarstvo sporta ne može platiti troškove smještaja i putovanja u Japan za svih pet sportaša u zemlji.

Na igrama bi trebali nastupiti Fatoumata Yarie Camara (hrvanje), Mamadou Samba Bah (džudo), Fatoumata Lamarana Toure i Mamadou Tahirou Bah (plivanje) i Aissata Deen Conte (atletika).

To će biti prvi put da Gvineja nije sudjelovala na Igrama od Montreala 1976. godine. Gvineja još nije osvojila medalju u 11 nastupa na Olimpijskim igrama.

U travnju je i Sjeverna Koreja otkazala sudjelovanje na igrama u Tokiju navodeći kao razlog novu pandemiju koronavirusa.

Gvinejski sportaši neće sudjelovati na Olimpijskim igrama u Tokiju zbog pandemije COVID-19, najavljeno je.

Ukupno je pet sportaša trebalo predstavljati ovu zapadnoafričku državu na Igrama. Međutim, gvinejski ministar sporta Sanoussy Bantama Sow kazao je kako njegova zemlja neće sudjelovati zbog "ponovnog oživljavanja inačica COVID-19".

Sow je odluku objasnio u pismu upućenom predsjedniku Nacionalnog olimpijskog odbora Nabiju Camiri, navodi se u izvještaju agencije AFP.

"Zbog ponovnog oživljavanja inačica COVID-19, vlada, zabrinuta za očuvanje zdravlja gvinejskih sportaša, sa žaljenjem je odlučila otkazati gvinejsko sudjelovanje na Olimpijskim igrama u Tokiju", napisao je Sow.
