Plivačka legenda i deveterostuki olimpijski pobjednik Mark Spitz (70) poručio je u razgovoru za akademiju Laureus kako će koronavirus promijeniti sport i naše društvo.

"Koronavirus će promijeniti način na koji radimo puno stvari, ne samo u vezi sa sportom. Nadam se da ćemo se uskoro vratiti u normalu, ali nema garancije da će se pronaći cjepivo protiv virusa," kazao je Spitz koji je osvojio devet zlatnih olimpijskih medalja, pri čemu sedam na OI u Munchenu 1972. godine.

Spitz se trenutačno nalazi u karanteni u svom domu u Los Angelesu, sretan što nitko od njegove obitelji i prijatelja nije obolio od COVID-19,

"Prvotno su nam rekli da trebamo ostati u svojim domovima dva tjedna, ali shvatio sam da to nije realno jer nema lijeka za ovu posebnu pandemiju", rekao je Spitz.

"Skidam kapu liječnicima i medicinskim sestrama koje su vani na prvim linijama, riskirajući živote," dodao je.

Naglasio je kako se slaže s odlukom Međunarodnog olimpijskog odbora (MOO) da zbog pandemije odgodi Olimpijske igre u Tokiju 2020. za 12 mjeseci.

"Ovaj virus utječe na većinu ljudi na isti način i utječe na sve sportove na sličan način", kazao je dodavši: "Brine me što nemamo sve odgovore na ovaj koronavirus i na pitanje kako će on ekonomski utjecati na svijet. Jedno od velikih pitanja koje morate sebi postaviti jest što će se dogoditi za godinu dana?"

Spitz je ušao u sportsku povijest na Olimpijskim igrama 1972. u Münchenu osvojivši sedam zlatnih medalja i postavivši sedam svjetskih rekorda. Posljednju, sedmu, zlatnu medalju u štafeti 4×100 m mješovito osvojio je 4. rujna, dan prije upada palestinskih terorista u Olimpijsko selo i početka najveće olimpijske tragedije.

Članovi palestinske terorističke skupine Crni rujan 5. rujna upali su u Olimpijsko selo i uzeli jedanaest izraelskih sportaša i trenera za taoce. Dva sportaša su ubijena odmah, a preostalih devet tijekom akcije spašavanja njemačke policije. Tijekom te operacije ubijeno je i pet terorista i jedan policajac.

"Nažalost, dan nakon što sam završio svoje plivačko natjecanje, dogodio se teroristički napad. Kad sam se probudio, nisam imao pojma što se događa. Zapravo, išao sam na konferenciju za novinare kako bih govorio o uspjehu koji sam ostvario. Tek kasno navečer shvatili smo da su ih odveli u vojnu bazu gdje su svi ubijeni," prisjetio se.

Nakon potpunog šoka Međunarodni olimpijski odbor je odlučio, 34 sata kasnije, da će se Igre nastaviti. Trebala je to biti pobjeda sporta nad terorističkom politikom.

"Zadnjih 48 godina nastavljam sa životom objašnjavajući kakav je moj osjećaj u vezi s tim tragičnim incidentom. Nakon što sam kontaktirao obitelji nekih od ubijenih sportaša, znam da su i oni pomislili da su se OI trebale nastaviti. Ne u sjećanje na njih, nego da ideje terorizma ne prevlada," kazao je.

Spitz je tijekom karijere osvojio 11 olimpijskih medalja pri čemu devet zlata i po jedno srebro i broncu. "Albatros" kako je glasio njegov nadimak, je postavio i 33 svjetska rekorda. Njegov rekord od sedam zlatnih medalja na jednim Igrama srušio je tek Michael Phelps na Olimpijskim igrama u Pekingu 2008. godine.

Plivačka legenda i deveterostuki olimpijski pobjednik Mark Spitz (70) poručio je u razgovoru za akademiju Laureus kako će koronavirus promijeniti sport i naše društvo.

"Koronavirus će promijeniti način na koji radimo puno stvari, ne samo u vezi sa sportom. Nadam se da ćemo se uskoro vratiti u normalu, ali nema garancije da će se pronaći cjepivo protiv virusa," kazao je Spitz koji je osvojio devet zlatnih olimpijskih medalja, pri čemu sedam na OI u Munchenu 1972. godine.

Spitz se trenutačno nalazi u karanteni u svom domu u Los Angelesu, sretan što nitko od njegove obitelji i prijatelja nije obolio od COVID-19,

"Prvotno su nam rekli da trebamo ostati u svojim domovima dva tjedna, ali shvatio sam da to nije realno jer nema lijeka za ovu posebnu pandemiju", rekao je Spitz.

"Skidam kapu liječnicima i medicinskim sestrama koje su vani na prvim linijama, riskirajući živote," dodao je.

Naglasio je kako se slaže s odlukom Međunarodnog olimpijskog odbora (MOO) da zbog pandemije odgodi Olimpijske igre u Tokiju 2020. za 12 mjeseci.

"Ovaj virus utječe na većinu ljudi na isti način i utječe na sve sportove na sličan način", kazao je dodavši: "Brine me što nemamo sve odgovore na ovaj koronavirus i na pitanje kako će on ekonomski utjecati na svijet. Jedno od velikih pitanja koje morate sebi postaviti jest što će se dogoditi za godinu dana?"

Spitz je ušao u sportsku povijest na Olimpijskim igrama 1972. u Münchenu osvojivši sedam zlatnih medalja i postavivši sedam svjetskih rekorda. Posljednju, sedmu, zlatnu medalju u štafeti 4×100 m mješovito osvojio je 4. rujna, dan prije upada palestinskih terorista u Olimpijsko selo i početka najveće olimpijske tragedije.

Članovi palestinske terorističke skupine Crni rujan 5. rujna upali su u Olimpijsko selo i uzeli jedanaest izraelskih sportaša i trenera za taoce. Dva sportaša su ubijena odmah, a preostalih devet tijekom akcije spašavanja njemačke policije. Tijekom te operacije ubijeno je i pet terorista i jedan policajac.

"Nažalost, dan nakon što sam završio svoje plivačko natjecanje, dogodio se teroristički napad. Kad sam se probudio, nisam imao pojma što se događa. Zapravo, išao sam na konferenciju za novinare kako bih govorio o uspjehu koji sam ostvario. Tek kasno navečer shvatili smo da su ih odveli u vojnu bazu gdje su svi ubijeni," prisjetio se.

Nakon potpunog šoka Međunarodni olimpijski odbor je odlučio, 34 sata kasnije, da će se Igre nastaviti. Trebala je to biti pobjeda sporta nad terorističkom politikom.

"Zadnjih 48 godina nastavljam sa životom objašnjavajući kakav je moj osjećaj u vezi s tim tragičnim incidentom. Nakon što sam kontaktirao obitelji nekih od ubijenih sportaša, znam da su i oni pomislili da su se OI trebale nastaviti. Ne u sjećanje na njih, nego da ideje terorizma ne prevlada," kazao je.

Spitz je tijekom karijere osvojio 11 olimpijskih medalja pri čemu devet zlata i po jedno srebro i broncu. "Albatros" kako je glasio njegov nadimak, je postavio i 33 svjetska rekorda. Njegov rekord od sedam zlatnih medalja na jednim Igrama srušio je tek Michael Phelps na Olimpijskim igrama u Pekingu 2008. godine.

Mark Spitz: Koronavirus će promijeniti način na koji radimo puno stvari, ne samo u vezi sa sportom

Plivačka legenda i deveterostuki olimpijski pobjednik Mark Spitz (70) poručio je u razgovoru za akademiju Laureus kako će koronavirus promijeniti sport i naše društvo.

"Koronavirus će promijeniti način na koji radimo puno stvari, ne samo u vezi sa sportom. Nadam se da ćemo se uskoro vratiti u normalu, ali nema garancije da će se pronaći cjepivo protiv virusa," kazao je Spitz koji je osvojio devet zlatnih olimpijskih medalja, pri čemu sedam na OI u Munchenu 1972. godine.

Spitz se trenutačno nalazi u karanteni u svom domu u Los Angelesu, sretan što nitko od njegove obitelji i prijatelja nije obolio od COVID-19,

"Prvotno su nam rekli da trebamo ostati u svojim domovima dva tjedna, ali shvatio sam da to nije realno jer nema lijeka za ovu posebnu pandemiju", rekao je Spitz.
