Paraolimpijski atletičar iz Ujedinjenih Arapskih Emirata Abdullah Hayayei (36) poginuo je za vrijeme treninga u Londonu, dva dana prije otvaranja Svjetskog atletskog prvenstva za osobe s invaliditetom koje će se održati u tom gradu i na kojem će nastupiti 13 hrvatskih atletičara.

Hayayei je stradao na treningu Newham Leisure centru u istočnom Londonu.

Londonska policija za sada nije otkrila detalje nesreće, ali nagađa se kako je Hayayei stradao kada ga je u glavu pogodio metalni stup koji čini dio bacališta. 

Abdullah je prolazio kroz svoje uobičajene rutine treninga, prije nego što ga je metalni stup udario. Medicinsko osoblje mu je na licu mjesta pokušalo pomoći, ali bez uspjeha.”

"U ovoj fazi istrage još je rano za otkrivanje detalja nesreće. Međutim, smatra se kako je čovjek pogođen u glavu metalnim stupom," poručili su iz londonske policije.

Hayayei je u Londonu trebao nastupiti u kategoriji F34 u bacanju kugle, diska i koplja. Na prošlogodišnjim paraolimpijskim igrama u Rio de Janeiru osvojio je šesto mjesto u bacanju koplja.

Njegova smrt šokirala je sve u paraolimpijskom pokretu. Predsjednik Međunarodnog paraolimpijskog odbora (IPC) Sir Philip Craven izrazio je sućut članovima Abdullahove obitelji, prijateljima i kolegama iz reprezentacije.

"Svi smo šokirani i pogođeni ovom tragedijom. Ovo je poražavajući događaj. Naše misli i molitve su uz Abdullahovu obitelj, kolege i prijatelje," kazao je predsjednik IPC-a.

Šokirani su i u Hrvatskom paraolimpijskom odboru (HPO). Naša reprezentacija u London putuje u srijedu, a na SP-u će nas predstavljati ukupno 13 atletičara.

"Sve nas je pogodila ova vijest. Još uvijek ne znamo detalje nesreće, no organizatori su nas obavijestili da je Newham Leisure centar, gdje smo trebali trenirati, za sada zatvoren. Hayayei je nastupao u kategoriji F34 u kojoj mi nemamo predstavnika," kazao je glavni tajnik Hrvatskog atletskog saveza osoba s invaliditetom i vođa puta u London Goran Žeželj.

Svjetsko atletsko prvenstvo za osobe s invaliditetom održat će se u Londonu na Olimpijskom stadionu od 14. do 23. srpnja, a nastupit će više od 1,300 sportaša iz 92 zemlje svijeta.

Paraolimpijski atletičar iz Ujedinjenih Arapskih Emirata Abdullah Hayayei (36) poginuo je za vrijeme treninga u Londonu, dva dana prije otvaranja Svjetskog atletskog prvenstva za osobe s invaliditetom koje će se održati u tom gradu i na kojem će nastupiti 13 hrvatskih atletičara.

Hayayei je stradao na treningu Newham Leisure centru u istočnom Londonu.

Londonska policija za sada nije otkrila detalje nesreće, ali nagađa se kako je Hayayei stradao kada ga je u glavu pogodio metalni stup koji čini dio bacališta. 

Abdullah je prolazio kroz svoje uobičajene rutine treninga, prije nego što ga je metalni stup udario. Medicinsko osoblje mu je na licu mjesta pokušalo pomoći, ali bez uspjeha.”

"U ovoj fazi istrage još je rano za otkrivanje detalja nesreće. Međutim, smatra se kako je čovjek pogođen u glavu metalnim stupom," poručili su iz londonske policije.

Hayayei je u Londonu trebao nastupiti u kategoriji F34 u bacanju kugle, diska i koplja. Na prošlogodišnjim paraolimpijskim igrama u Rio de Janeiru osvojio je šesto mjesto u bacanju koplja.

Njegova smrt šokirala je sve u paraolimpijskom pokretu. Predsjednik Međunarodnog paraolimpijskog odbora (IPC) Sir Philip Craven izrazio je sućut članovima Abdullahove obitelji, prijateljima i kolegama iz reprezentacije.

"Svi smo šokirani i pogođeni ovom tragedijom. Ovo je poražavajući događaj. Naše misli i molitve su uz Abdullahovu obitelj, kolege i prijatelje," kazao je predsjednik IPC-a.

Šokirani su i u Hrvatskom paraolimpijskom odboru (HPO). Naša reprezentacija u London putuje u srijedu, a na SP-u će nas predstavljati ukupno 13 atletičara.

"Sve nas je pogodila ova vijest. Još uvijek ne znamo detalje nesreće, no organizatori su nas obavijestili da je Newham Leisure centar, gdje smo trebali trenirati, za sada zatvoren. Hayayei je nastupao u kategoriji F34 u kojoj mi nemamo predstavnika," kazao je glavni tajnik Hrvatskog atletskog saveza osoba s invaliditetom i vođa puta u London Goran Žeželj.

Svjetsko atletsko prvenstvo za osobe s invaliditetom održat će se u Londonu na Olimpijskom stadionu od 14. do 23. srpnja, a nastupit će više od 1,300 sportaša iz 92 zemlje svijeta.
