Švedski hokejaški klub Frolunda Indians objavio je u četvrtak da namjerava promijeniti ime i logo s prikazom indijanskog poglavice, priključujući se tako sve većem broju sportskih klubova koji se odriču svojih indijanskih maskota.

Korištenje indijanskih naziva i simbola u sportu postalo je sporno, a NFL momčad iz Washingtona Redskins povukla je svoje ime i logotip u srpnju zbog zabrinutosti da se radi o kulturnom prisvajanju autohtonih kultura.

Engleski ragbi klub Exeter Chiefs odbio je slijediti njihov primjer, istaknuvši da njegov logotip izražava "poštovanje", no ipak je povukao svoju maskotu poznatu kao "Veliki šef".

"Korištenje indijskog logotipa nije održivo za budućnost", rekao je glasnogovornik Frolunde u četvrtak.

Zbog financijskog opterećenja izazvanog pandemijom COVID-19, klub sa sjedištem u Göteborgu, službeno poznat kao Frolunda HC, nastavit će sa svojim indijskim logotipom i nadimkom ove sezone, a promjenu će uvesti 2021. godine, navodi se u priopćenju kluba.

"Promjena logotipa neće biti lagan postupak, a ni klub ga neće shvatiti olako", dodaje Frolunda zaključujući: "brand kluba, njegove vrijednosti i duša ne počivaju u simbolu."

Švedski hokejaški klub Frolunda Indians objavio je u četvrtak da namjerava promijeniti ime i logo s prikazom indijanskog poglavice, priključujući se tako sve većem broju sportskih klubova koji se odriču svojih indijanskih maskota.

Korištenje indijanskih naziva i simbola u sportu postalo je sporno, a NFL momčad iz Washingtona Redskins povukla je svoje ime i logotip u srpnju zbog zabrinutosti da se radi o kulturnom prisvajanju autohtonih kultura.

Engleski ragbi klub Exeter Chiefs odbio je slijediti njihov primjer, istaknuvši da njegov logotip izražava "poštovanje", no ipak je povukao svoju maskotu poznatu kao "Veliki šef".

"Korištenje indijskog logotipa nije održivo za budućnost", rekao je glasnogovornik Frolunde u četvrtak.

Zbog financijskog opterećenja izazvanog pandemijom COVID-19, klub sa sjedištem u Göteborgu, službeno poznat kao Frolunda HC, nastavit će sa svojim indijskim logotipom i nadimkom ove sezone, a promjenu će uvesti 2021. godine, navodi se u priopćenju kluba.

"Promjena logotipa neće biti lagan postupak, a ni klub ga neće shvatiti olako", dodaje Frolunda zaključujući: "brand kluba, njegove vrijednosti i duša ne počivaju u simbolu."

Švedski hokejaški klub mijenja svoje indijansko ime

Švedski hokejaški klub Frolunda Indians objavio je u četvrtak da namjerava promijeniti ime i logo s prikazom indijanskog poglavice, priključujući se tako sve većem broju sportskih klubova koji se odriču svojih indijanskih maskota.

Korištenje indijanskih naziva i simbola u sportu postalo je sporno, a NFL momčad iz Washingtona Redskins povukla je svoje ime i logotip u srpnju zbog zabrinutosti da se radi o kulturnom prisvajanju autohtonih kultura.

Engleski ragbi klub Exeter Chiefs odbio je slijediti njihov primjer, istaknuvši da njegov logotip izražava "poštovanje", no ipak je povukao svoju maskotu poznatu kao "Veliki šef".

"Korištenje indijskog logotipa nije održivo za budućnost", rekao je glasnogovornik Frolunde u četvrtak.
