No Balić je urbi et orbi objavio: “Za reprezentaciju neću više igrati”. Na taj način Ivano je prekinuo šutnju nakon što je za Svjetsko prvenstvo u Španjolskoj u siječnju ove godine bio izostavljen i sa šireg popisa od 30 igrača.  
U intervjuu za Sportske novosti, Balić je izjavio:

- Reprezentacija je gotova priča, tako se dogodilo, odluka je stožera orijentacija na mlađe igrače, ja im više ne trebam. Hvala im. Duvnjak mora ostati vođa ove generacije.

‘Dugo sam razmišljao...’

Na hipotetsko pitanje bi li, da dođe novi izbornik s kojim je u dobrim odnosima, prihvatio poziv u reprezentaciju, Balić je kategorički odgovorio niječno.

- Ne, ne bih. To je gotovo, završio sam. Dugo sam o tome razmišljao, previše. Smetalo me dosta dana, na kraju sam se pomirio i, evo, to je to.  Dao sam za Hrvatsku koliko god sam mogao i što se tiče reprezentacije, mogu se uvijek pogledati u ogledalo i reći da sam dao sve od sebe svaki put kad sam bio u njoj.

Ipak, ostalo je još nešto što je rukometni majstor želio podvući.

- Osvojili smo premalo zlatnih medalja. I za svaku mi je žao. uvijek ću misliti da smo trebali osvojiti pet-šest zlata za redom, kao što su to napravili Francuzi. Mislim da smo to bili u stanju. Ne bježim od krivnje jer sam i ja kriv što nismo to napravili. Bili smo najtalentiraniji, najbolje smo razumjeli rukomet, igrali najljepše, ali ostali smo samo na dva zlata – zaključio je Balić.

Na taj način Ivano je prekinuo šutnju nakon što je za Svjetsko prvenstvo u Španjolskoj u siječnju ove godine bio izostavljen i sa šireg popisa od 30 igrača.  
U intervjuu za Sportske novosti, Balić je izjavio:

- Reprezentacija je gotova priča, tako se dogodilo, odluka je stožera orijentacija na mlađe igrače, ja im više ne trebam. Hvala im. Duvnjak mora ostati vođa ove generacije.

‘Dugo sam razmišljao...’

Na hipotetsko pitanje bi li, da dođe novi izbornik s kojim je u dobrim odnosima, prihvatio poziv u reprezentaciju, Balić je kategorički odgovorio niječno.

- Ne, ne bih. To je gotovo, završio sam. Dugo sam o tome razmišljao, previše. Smetalo me dosta dana, na kraju sam se pomirio i, evo, to je to.  Dao sam za Hrvatsku koliko god sam mogao i što se tiče reprezentacije, mogu se uvijek pogledati u ogledalo i reći da sam dao sve od sebe svaki put kad sam bio u njoj.

Ipak, ostalo je još nešto što je rukometni majstor želio podvući.

- Osvojili smo premalo zlatnih medalja. I za svaku mi je žao. uvijek ću misliti da smo trebali osvojiti pet-šest zlata za redom, kao što su to napravili Francuzi. Mislim da smo to bili u stanju. Ne bježim od krivnje jer sam i ja kriv što nismo to napravili. Bili smo najtalentiraniji, najbolje smo razumjeli rukomet, igrali najljepše, ali ostali smo samo na dva zlata – zaključio je Balić.

Igra najbolji rukomet života, Talant Dušebajev je zadovoljan zrelošću Ivana Balića, kako vodi igru Atletico Madrida. No Balić je urbi et orbi objavio: “Za reprezentaciju neću više igrati”. Na taj način Ivano je prekinuo šutnju nakon što je za Svjetsko prvenstvo u Španjolskoj u siječnju ove godine bio izostavljen i sa šireg popisa od 30 igrača.  
U intervjuu za Sportske novosti, Balić je izjavio:
