Imala je 12 godina kad smo prvi put pričali.
– Naravno da želim biti broj jedan, ne bih inače ni trenirala – rekla nam je tada odlučna Petra Granić.
Nije jedina koja je tako mislila, a put ju je godinama kasnije odveo na drugu stranu, na koledž. U SAD.
No, sada je došla kući na odmor baš kada je na rasporedu bilo Prvenstvo Hrvatske za seniorke...
- I rekla sam zašto ja ne bih to odigrala. Prošla sam kvalifikacije i na kraju osvojila turnir – kaže nam Petra, koja je na putu do titule prvakinje Hrvatske pobijedila i Tenu Lukas.
Očito je kako se dobro radi na koledžu?
– Mislila sam kao većina što misli da odlazak na koledž znači trenirati tenis, ali više se posvetiti obrazovanju. No tamo je sustav treninga stvarno dobar. Trenira se po četiri sata dnevno, svaki dan kondicija i tri sata tenisa. Imala sam odličnih rezultata, plasirali smo se na njihov NCAA level, a u tri godine imala sam tek nekoliko poraza. Krenulo mi je sve bolje i bolje, trenira se stvarno ozbiljno.
Na kojem si koledžu?
– University of Texas u Austinu, Petra Dizdar i Neda Koprčina su bile na tom fakultetu. Ostala mi je još godina. Studiram marketing.
I što kad odradiš još godinu?
– Sada se želim još ozbiljnije dati u tenis. Mislim da stvarno mogu. Jedna cura na fakultetu je 400. na WTA listi, druga oko 700. mjesta, osvajaju manje turnire, a ja ih na treningu redovno dobijam. Vidim da mogu i onda zašto ne pokušati.
Kada?
- Mislim već sada početi igrati turnire, na jesen, ako uhvatim vremena i dok sam u Americi. Najteže će biti kvalificirati se, upadati u turnire. Kad ostvarim neke bodove bit će lakše, ovaj početak će biti bremenit.
Sve više igrača nakon koledža ostvaruje dobre karijere na Touru, i muških i ženskih?
- Danielle Collins (34. na svijetu, nap. a.) je studirala, sada ima “nemoguće” rezultate. Koledž tenis je postao ozbiljan, meni su primjer cure s tog mog faksa koje imaju WTA bodove, ali im je fakultet, dok ne diplomiraju, na prvom mjestu.
Kakvi su ti uvjeti u SAD-u?
– Dobila sam punu stipendiju. U početku je najteže kad dođeš s treninga, a mama nije tu da ti opere i skuva. I socijalizacija, opet se upoznati s ljudima i kreirati sebi život. I engleski jezik, naravno, nije lako. Sad kad stalno pričam na engleskom, teško mi se sjetiti neke riječi na hrvatski, haha... A što se tenisa tiče, radimo kao profesionalci i to uz fakultet. Stvarno jest teško, pogotovo dok se navikneš. Nove cure uvijek pitaju hoće li postati lakše. Ali nikad ne postane lakše, samo ti postaneš bolja u tome svemu.

Imala je 12 godina kad smo prvi put pričali.
– Naravno da želim biti broj jedan, ne bih inače ni trenirala – rekla nam je tada odlučna Petra Granić.
Nije jedina koja je tako mislila, a put ju je godinama kasnije odveo na drugu stranu, na koledž. U SAD.
No, sada je došla kući na odmor baš kada je na rasporedu bilo Prvenstvo Hrvatske za seniorke...
- I rekla sam zašto ja ne bih to odigrala. Prošla sam kvalifikacije i na kraju osvojila turnir – kaže nam Petra, koja je na putu do titule prvakinje Hrvatske pobijedila i Tenu Lukas.
Očito je kako se dobro radi na koledžu?
– Mislila sam kao većina što misli da odlazak na koledž znači trenirati tenis, ali više se posvetiti obrazovanju. No tamo je sustav treninga stvarno dobar. Trenira se po četiri sata dnevno, svaki dan kondicija i tri sata tenisa. Imala sam odličnih rezultata, plasirali smo se na njihov NCAA level, a u tri godine imala sam tek nekoliko poraza. Krenulo mi je sve bolje i bolje, trenira se stvarno ozbiljno.
Na kojem si koledžu?
– University of Texas u Austinu, Petra Dizdar i Neda Koprčina su bile na tom fakultetu. Ostala mi je još godina. Studiram marketing.
I što kad odradiš još godinu?
– Sada se želim još ozbiljnije dati u tenis. Mislim da stvarno mogu. Jedna cura na fakultetu je 400. na WTA listi, druga oko 700. mjesta, osvajaju manje turnire, a ja ih na treningu redovno dobijam. Vidim da mogu i onda zašto ne pokušati.
Kada?
- Mislim već sada početi igrati turnire, na jesen, ako uhvatim vremena i dok sam u Americi. Najteže će biti kvalificirati se, upadati u turnire. Kad ostvarim neke bodove bit će lakše, ovaj početak će biti bremenit.
Sve više igrača nakon koledža ostvaruje dobre karijere na Touru, i muških i ženskih?
- Danielle Collins (34. na svijetu, nap. a.) je studirala, sada ima “nemoguće” rezultate. Koledž tenis je postao ozbiljan, meni su primjer cure s tog mog faksa koje imaju WTA bodove, ali im je fakultet, dok ne diplomiraju, na prvom mjestu.
Kakvi su ti uvjeti u SAD-u?
– Dobila sam punu stipendiju. U početku je najteže kad dođeš s treninga, a mama nije tu da ti opere i skuva. I socijalizacija, opet se upoznati s ljudima i kreirati sebi život. I engleski jezik, naravno, nije lako. Sad kad stalno pričam na engleskom, teško mi se sjetiti neke riječi na hrvatski, haha... A što se tenisa tiče, radimo kao profesionalci i to uz fakultet. Stvarno jest teško, pogotovo dok se navikneš. Nove cure uvijek pitaju hoće li postati lakše. Ali nikad ne postane lakše, samo ti postaneš bolja u tome svemu.
