Marin Čilić (17.) izvukao se iz minusa od dva seta te je u drugom kolu US Opena pobijedio Amerikanca Jesseja Levinea (135.) sa 4:6, 2:6, 6:0, 6:3, . Ovom je teškom pobjedom hrvatski tenisač obranio treće kolo iz prošle godine te sada čeka novi izazov kako bi nadmašio lanjski rezultat.

Levine je prvi napravio break, no Čilić se vratio na 4:4 u prvom setu, ali samo da bi izgubio već svoj idući servis gem. Levine je potom na svom servisu došao do tri set lopte i nije imao nikakvih problema uzeti prvi set.

Kada je početkom drugog seta Amerikanac napravio break i za 2:1, priča je počela dobivati konture ozbilje senzacije, a Čilić, 16. nositelj, se našao u velikim problemima. Ni njegova igra, kao ni rezultat, nije izgledala sjajno. Još gore semafor je za Čilića svijetlio malo kasnije, bilo je 4:1 za Levinea!

Hrvatski reprezentativac uspio je vratiti jedan break za 4:2, no odmah potom izgubio je još jedan servis! Meč je izgledao kao jednosmjerna ulica, ali ona koja vodi do Amerikančeve pobjede, u što je malo tko vjerovao prije početka susreta. Bilo je 6:4, 6:4 za sat i 12 minuta igre.

A onda... Treći set 6:0 za Čilića!!! U prvom je gemu morao spašavati break loptu i tko zna kamo bi meč krenuo da je odmah izgubio servis. No, nije. Levine se raspao i Čilić je smanjio na 2:1 u setovima.

Susret se nastavio odvijati prema očekivanjima. Čilić je vodio igru, napravio je break i dovršio set izjednačivši na 2:2. Imao je, doduše, i Levine četiri break lopte, no nije ih iskoristio.

Dvoboj je otišao u peti set u kojemu nema tie breaka. No, Levine je odmah „prodao“ svoj servis gem. Napravio je duplu pogrešku za 15:40 i „Čilkan“ je to iskoristio, napravio break za 1:0., kojega je potvrdio, a potom uzeo i novi za 3:0. Bio je to kraj za Levinea. I repriza trećeg seta u kojemu Amerikanac nije opet uzeo ni jedan gem. Jaki servis, odličan forhend volej i smeš Čilića bila je kombinacija za realizaciju prve meč lopte.

Marin Čilić (17.) izvukao se iz minusa od dva seta te je u drugom kolu US Opena pobijedio Amerikanca Jesseja Levinea (135.) sa 4:6, 2:6, 6:0, 6:3, . Ovom je teškom pobjedom hrvatski tenisač obranio treće kolo iz prošle godine te sada čeka novi izazov kako bi nadmašio lanjski rezultat.

Levine je prvi napravio break, no Čilić se vratio na 4:4 u prvom setu, ali samo da bi izgubio već svoj idući servis gem. Levine je potom na svom servisu došao do tri set lopte i nije imao nikakvih problema uzeti prvi set.

Kada je početkom drugog seta Amerikanac napravio break i za 2:1, priča je počela dobivati konture ozbilje senzacije, a Čilić, 16. nositelj, se našao u velikim problemima. Ni njegova igra, kao ni rezultat, nije izgledala sjajno. Još gore semafor je za Čilića svijetlio malo kasnije, bilo je 4:1 za Levinea!

Hrvatski reprezentativac uspio je vratiti jedan break za 4:2, no odmah potom izgubio je još jedan servis! Meč je izgledao kao jednosmjerna ulica, ali ona koja vodi do Amerikančeve pobjede, u što je malo tko vjerovao prije početka susreta. Bilo je 6:4, 6:4 za sat i 12 minuta igre.

A onda... Treći set 6:0 za Čilića!!! U prvom je gemu morao spašavati break loptu i tko zna kamo bi meč krenuo da je odmah izgubio servis. No, nije. Levine se raspao i Čilić je smanjio na 2:1 u setovima.

Susret se nastavio odvijati prema očekivanjima. Čilić je vodio igru, napravio je break i dovršio set izjednačivši na 2:2. Imao je, doduše, i Levine četiri break lopte, no nije ih iskoristio.

Dvoboj je otišao u peti set u kojemu nema tie breaka. No, Levine je odmah „prodao“ svoj servis gem. Napravio je duplu pogrešku za 15:40 i „Čilkan“ je to iskoristio, napravio break za 1:0., kojega je potvrdio, a potom uzeo i novi za 3:0. Bio je to kraj za Levinea. I repriza trećeg seta u kojemu Amerikanac nije opet uzeo ni jedan gem. Jaki servis, odličan forhend volej i smeš Čilića bila je kombinacija za realizaciju prve meč lopte.
