Nedavni incident u Osnovnoj školi Lapad izazvao je kontroverzu kada je časna sestra, koja predaje vjeronauk učenicima petih razreda, iznijela negativna stajališta o jogi. Ona je, naime, izrazila uvjerenje da je joga prizivanje vraga te da će se nešto loše dogoditi onima koji je prakticiraju.

Ove tvrdnje su rezultirale stresom kod učenika, pogotovo onih koji sami vježbaju jogu ili im roditelji to rade. Ovaj događaj izazvao je širu javnu raspravu o jogi i njezinom mjestu u društvu. Tako je Dubrovački dnevnik sada podsjetio čitatelje na intervju iz 2016. godine u kojem je Mate Uzinić, tada dubrovački biskup, a sadašnji riječki nadbiskup, iznio svoje stavove o jogi.

"Joga nije samo tehnika, ona uključuje čitav jedan religiozni sustav koji ima za svrhu izbaviti dušu iz ciklusa ponovnog rađanja i dovesti je do potpunog jedinstva s božanskim bićem. Na zapadu se joga često promatra samo pod vidom meditacijske tehnike koja uključuje tijelo, zbog čega se često reklamira kao nereligiozna i terapijska praksa koja donosi mir i zdravlje. Ipak, ostvaruje li se ta praksa u kontekstu govora o karmi i reinkarnaciji, tada se nalazimo na religioznom području  koje je nespojivo s kršćanstvom.

Odnosom kršćanske meditacije i istočnim meditacijskim tehnikama bavi se Pismo biskupima Katoličke crkve o nekim vidicima kršćanske meditacije koje je 1989. izradila Kongregacija za nauk vjere. Pismo, u svjetlu povećanog zanimanja za istočne oblike meditacije, iznosi osnovna načela kršćanske molitve. Obrazlažući kršćanski put sjedinjenja s Bogom, koji je određen strukturom kršćanske vjere, dokument govori i o tome kako neki elementi istočnih meditacijskih tehnika olakšavaju sabranost, te mogu biti korisni ako su prilagođeni kršćanskoj molitvi.

U svakom slučaju, danas prepoznajemo veliku važnost upoznavanja ljudi s bogatom molitvenom baštinom kršćanstva u kojoj meditacija, posebno unutar kršćanske mistike, zauzima važno mjesto", izjavio je tada Uzinić.

Nedavni incident u Osnovnoj školi Lapad izazvao je kontroverzu kada je časna sestra, koja predaje vjeronauk učenicima petih razreda, iznijela negativna stajališta o jogi. Ona je, naime, izrazila uvjerenje da je joga prizivanje vraga te da će se nešto loše dogoditi onima koji je prakticiraju.

Ove tvrdnje su rezultirale stresom kod učenika, pogotovo onih koji sami vježbaju jogu ili im roditelji to rade. Ovaj događaj izazvao je širu javnu raspravu o jogi i njezinom mjestu u društvu. Tako je Dubrovački dnevnik sada podsjetio čitatelje na intervju iz 2016. godine u kojem je Mate Uzinić, tada dubrovački biskup, a sadašnji riječki nadbiskup, iznio svoje stavove o jogi.

"Joga nije samo tehnika, ona uključuje čitav jedan religiozni sustav koji ima za svrhu izbaviti dušu iz ciklusa ponovnog rađanja i dovesti je do potpunog jedinstva s božanskim bićem. Na zapadu se joga često promatra samo pod vidom meditacijske tehnike koja uključuje tijelo, zbog čega se često reklamira kao nereligiozna i terapijska praksa koja donosi mir i zdravlje. Ipak, ostvaruje li se ta praksa u kontekstu govora o karmi i reinkarnaciji, tada se nalazimo na religioznom području  koje je nespojivo s kršćanstvom.

Odnosom kršćanske meditacije i istočnim meditacijskim tehnikama bavi se Pismo biskupima Katoličke crkve o nekim vidicima kršćanske meditacije koje je 1989. izradila Kongregacija za nauk vjere. Pismo, u svjetlu povećanog zanimanja za istočne oblike meditacije, iznosi osnovna načela kršćanske molitve. Obrazlažući kršćanski put sjedinjenja s Bogom, koji je određen strukturom kršćanske vjere, dokument govori i o tome kako neki elementi istočnih meditacijskih tehnika olakšavaju sabranost, te mogu biti korisni ako su prilagođeni kršćanskoj molitvi.

U svakom slučaju, danas prepoznajemo veliku važnost upoznavanja ljudi s bogatom molitvenom baštinom kršćanstva u kojoj meditacija, posebno unutar kršćanske mistike, zauzima važno mjesto", izjavio je tada Uzinić.
