Bilo je to 1996. godine, vodila se teška borba oko zrakoplova koje će kupiti Croatia Airlines. I onda su francuski predsjednik Jacques Chirac i njemački kancelar Helmut Kohl poslali pismo Franji Tuđmanu, nahvalili ga do te mjere da je pismo pročitano u Dnevniku HTV-a i kupljeni su Airbusi. Što, u konačnici, nije bila loša odluka, problem je samo u metodi. Oba su čelnika dobro znala kako utjecati na hvale željnog čovjeka koji donosi tu odluku, piše Jutarnji.

Ako su Berlin i Pariz na takvu razinu stavili kupovinu civilnih zrakoplova, može se zaključiti koliko je važno čije ćemo borbene zrakoplove nabaviti. Uz civilne ide niz dodatnih poslova, borbeni su signal strateškog usmjerenja: bivša Jugoslavija je letjela na MiG-ovima iako je bila nesvrstana. Uz taj sigurnosni aspekt, tu je i niz poslovnih elemenata, kako je objasnio Krešimir Žabec. Koji nas je izvijestio i da se Hrvatska odlučila za francuske avione Dassault Rafale.

Nisam bio zagovornik kupovine američkih zrakoplova preko Izraela. Činilo mi se logičnim da, ako kupujemo F-15, kupujemo od Lockheed Martina, proizvođača. Pa su lijepo Amerikanci zaustavili taj posao u završnoj fazi. I bolje, kad se pogleda iz današnje perspektive.

S Izraelom smo, unatoč Tuđmanu ("supruga mi nije ni Srpkinja, ni Židovka - na sreću", izrekao je), uspjeli s vremenom izgraditi čvrste i stabilne odnose. Kad bismo još bili skloni otvoriti vrata njihovim poslovnim ponudama, bilo bi bolje. Ali, nije loše ni ovako.

SAD je saveznik u NATO-u koji je izuzetno zadovoljan hrvatskim sudjelovanjem u mirovnim misijama i općenito našom sigurnosnom politikom. Nije sporno da bi Washington bio sretan da je Zagreb izabrao F-16 jer su tako odlučile Bugarska i Slovačka, ali obje te zemlje imaju ozbiljniji problem - snažan ruski utjecaj na domaću politiku.

Hrvatska je dobro procijenila da je vrijeme da se obrambene politike usredotoče na Europu. Administracija Joea Bidena vraća važnost transatlantskim odnosima, ali njihov je primarni interes i strateški imperativ Indo-Pacifik.

Naša je geografska i politička sudbina Europa. I zato je potrebno aktivno poticati jačanje europske obrambene suradnje. Na koju je Zagreb isprva gledao s distance, ali ju je zatim prihvatio. Jer je ustanovljena kao komplementarna, ne konkurentna NATO-u.

U ovoj ranoj fazi njezina razvoja glavno joj je obilježje objedinjavanje europskih obrambenih ulaganja i poticanje kupovine europskog gdje god se to može. Tako se jača europski obrambeni potencijal.

Zagreb se tako definira kao snažno proeuropski akter koji želi biti dijelom EU prve brzine koja će jačati integraciju i uključivati zemlje koje to žele. Zagovornici takve politike su i njemački Zeleni koji će biti dijelom sljedeće vlade.  I Francuska, vodeća vojna sila u EU, što se ne smije zaboraviti.

EU prve brzine podrazumijeva i ulazak u Schengen, sadašnji ili reformirani i eurozonu. I jedno i drugo je hrvatski strateški interes u ostvarivanju kojega nam Pariz može biti važan saveznik. I zato su prigovori jedne desne stranke, koja se poziva na iskustva Domovinskog rata, promašeni. Ništa od ovoga nam SAD ne može pružiti. I toga su u Washingtonu svjesni. Malo će se frnjiti, reda radi, a onda opet posao kao i prije.

Bilo je to 1996. godine, vodila se teška borba oko zrakoplova koje će kupiti Croatia Airlines. I onda su francuski predsjednik Jacques Chirac i njemački kancelar Helmut Kohl poslali pismo Franji Tuđmanu, nahvalili ga do te mjere da je pismo pročitano u Dnevniku HTV-a i kupljeni su Airbusi. Što, u konačnici, nije bila loša odluka, problem je samo u metodi. Oba su čelnika dobro znala kako utjecati na hvale željnog čovjeka koji donosi tu odluku, piše Jutarnji.

Ako su Berlin i Pariz na takvu razinu stavili kupovinu civilnih zrakoplova, može se zaključiti koliko je važno čije ćemo borbene zrakoplove nabaviti. Uz civilne ide niz dodatnih poslova, borbeni su signal strateškog usmjerenja: bivša Jugoslavija je letjela na MiG-ovima iako je bila nesvrstana. Uz taj sigurnosni aspekt, tu je i niz poslovnih elemenata, kako je objasnio Krešimir Žabec. Koji nas je izvijestio i da se Hrvatska odlučila za francuske avione Dassault Rafale.

Nisam bio zagovornik kupovine američkih zrakoplova preko Izraela. Činilo mi se logičnim da, ako kupujemo F-15, kupujemo od Lockheed Martina, proizvođača. Pa su lijepo Amerikanci zaustavili taj posao u završnoj fazi. I bolje, kad se pogleda iz današnje perspektive.

S Izraelom smo, unatoč Tuđmanu ("supruga mi nije ni Srpkinja, ni Židovka - na sreću", izrekao je), uspjeli s vremenom izgraditi čvrste i stabilne odnose. Kad bismo još bili skloni otvoriti vrata njihovim poslovnim ponudama, bilo bi bolje. Ali, nije loše ni ovako.

SAD je saveznik u NATO-u koji je izuzetno zadovoljan hrvatskim sudjelovanjem u mirovnim misijama i općenito našom sigurnosnom politikom. Nije sporno da bi Washington bio sretan da je Zagreb izabrao F-16 jer su tako odlučile Bugarska i Slovačka, ali obje te zemlje imaju ozbiljniji problem - snažan ruski utjecaj na domaću politiku.

Hrvatska je dobro procijenila da je vrijeme da se obrambene politike usredotoče na Europu. Administracija Joea Bidena vraća važnost transatlantskim odnosima, ali njihov je primarni interes i strateški imperativ Indo-Pacifik.

Naša je geografska i politička sudbina Europa. I zato je potrebno aktivno poticati jačanje europske obrambene suradnje. Na koju je Zagreb isprva gledao s distance, ali ju je zatim prihvatio. Jer je ustanovljena kao komplementarna, ne konkurentna NATO-u.

U ovoj ranoj fazi njezina razvoja glavno joj je obilježje objedinjavanje europskih obrambenih ulaganja i poticanje kupovine europskog gdje god se to može. Tako se jača europski obrambeni potencijal.

Zagreb se tako definira kao snažno proeuropski akter koji želi biti dijelom EU prve brzine koja će jačati integraciju i uključivati zemlje koje to žele. Zagovornici takve politike su i njemački Zeleni koji će biti dijelom sljedeće vlade.  I Francuska, vodeća vojna sila u EU, što se ne smije zaboraviti.

EU prve brzine podrazumijeva i ulazak u Schengen, sadašnji ili reformirani i eurozonu. I jedno i drugo je hrvatski strateški interes u ostvarivanju kojega nam Pariz može biti važan saveznik. I zato su prigovori jedne desne stranke, koja se poziva na iskustva Domovinskog rata, promašeni. Ništa od ovoga nam SAD ne može pružiti. I toga su u Washingtonu svjesni. Malo će se frnjiti, reda radi, a onda opet posao kao i prije.

Bilo je to 1996. godine, vodila se teška borba oko zrakoplova koje će kupiti Croatia Airlines. I onda su francuski predsjednik Jacques Chirac i njemački kancelar Helmut Kohl poslali pismo Franji Tuđmanu, nahvalili ga do te mjere da je pismo pročitano u Dnevniku HTV-a i kupljeni su Airbusi. Što, u konačnici, nije bila loša odluka, problem je samo u metodi. Oba su čelnika dobro znala kako utjecati na hvale željnog čovjeka koji donosi tu odluku, piše Jutarnji.

Ako su Berlin i Pariz na takvu razinu stavili kupovinu civilnih zrakoplova, može se zaključiti koliko je važno čije ćemo borbene zrakoplove nabaviti. Uz civilne ide niz dodatnih poslova, borbeni su signal strateškog usmjerenja: bivša Jugoslavija je letjela na MiG-ovima iako je bila nesvrstana. Uz taj sigurnosni aspekt...
