Virus Zapadnog Nila potvrđen je ovaj tjedna u Srbiji zbog čega su i naši epidemiolozi pozvali građane na oprez budući su prirodni rezervoar toga virusa ptice, a prijenosnici komarci pa je lako moguće da se on uskoro pojavi i u Hrvatskoj.

Kod nas ove godine kao ni prošle nije prijavljen ni jedan slučaj bolesti, ali liječnici navode kako rizik tijekom ljetne sezone nipošto ne treba zanemariti. Virus se najčešće pojavljuje u uvjetima visokih temperatura, a izgledi su veći ako je prethodno bilo dosta vlage. A takvo je bilo dosadašnje ljeto.

- Većina zaraženih ljudi nema nikakve ili ima blage simptome bolesti (povišena temperatura, glavobolja i bolovi u tijelu ) nakon inkubacije 2 do 15 dana. Kod nekih ljudi se može javiti blagi osip ili otečeni limfni čvorovi. Kod nekih pojedinaca, naročito starijih osoba, virus Zapadnog Nila može izazvati ozbiljnu bolest odnosno groznicu koja se manifestira upalom moždanog tkiva (encefalitis) i može biti smrtonosna. Znakovi i simptomi encefalitisa uključuju pojavu jake glavobolje, visoku temperaturu, ukočenost vrata, konfuziju, gubitak svijesti i slabosti mišića – objašnjava nam zagrebački epidemiolog prof. dr. Branko Kolarić.

Bolest se prvi put registrirala u Hrvatskoj 2012. godine, a do kraja 2019. godine zabilježeno je ukupno 110 oboljelih i četiri umrle osobe.

- Bolest je sezonska, javlja se u kasno ljeto i jesen, a u Hrvatskoj je za sada zabilježena samo u sjeverozapadnim i istočnim dijelovima. Ne postoji cjepivo, a najbolja prevencija je izbjegavanje uboda komaraca. Ovaj je virus prvi puta izoliran 1937. godine iz krvi febrilne osobe u sjevernoj Ugandi, okrugu West Nile. 1950-tih je prepoznat kao uzročnik teških meningoencefalitisa u starijih osoba, a devedesetih godina prošlog stoljeća ova zaraza se proširila sjevernom Amerikom, Europom i Bliskim istokom kao endemska bolest – ispričao je Kolarić.

Virus je dosad izoliran u više od 40 vrsta komaraca, najčešće kod roda Culex, ali i kod Aedes albopicitusa i Anophelesa, triju vrsta koje su prisutne i na našem području.

„Rezervoar zaraze su ptice s kojih komarac može prenijeti infekciju na ljude, konje i neke druge kralježnjake. No s čovjeka na čovjeka se bolest ne može prenijeti – napominje znanstvenik.

Liječnici savjetuju upotrebu repelenata.

Sredstva protiv komaraca koristite pogotovo u sumrak i u zoru kad su komarci najaktivniji, a treba našpricati sve nepokrivene dijelove tijela, dok su za zatvorene prostore korisne zaštitne mreže na prozorima i balkonskim vratima, uz primjenu repelenata za prostore. Komarcima ne odgovaraju klimatizirani i hladni prostori.

U slučaju pojave simptoma koriste se lijekovi za snižavanje temperature i analgetici, a kod ozbiljnijih simptoma kao što temperatura s višednevnom glavoboljom, treba se odmah javiti liječniku.

Početkom godine upravo je od posljedica bolesti virusa Zapadnog Nila u SAD-u preminula naša poznata glumica Mira Furlan u 65 godini. Ona je mjesecima zbog ovog virusa, kojim ju je zarazio komarac u vlastitom vrtu, bila u komi.

Virus Zapadnog Nila potvrđen je ovaj tjedna u Srbiji zbog čega su i naši epidemiolozi pozvali građane na oprez budući su prirodni rezervoar toga virusa ptice, a prijenosnici komarci pa je lako moguće da se on uskoro pojavi i u Hrvatskoj.

Kod nas ove godine kao ni prošle nije prijavljen ni jedan slučaj bolesti, ali liječnici navode kako rizik tijekom ljetne sezone nipošto ne treba zanemariti. Virus se najčešće pojavljuje u uvjetima visokih temperatura, a izgledi su veći ako je prethodno bilo dosta vlage. A takvo je bilo dosadašnje ljeto.

- Većina zaraženih ljudi nema nikakve ili ima blage simptome bolesti (povišena temperatura, glavobolja i bolovi u tijelu ) nakon inkubacije 2 do 15 dana. Kod nekih ljudi se može javiti blagi osip ili otečeni limfni čvorovi. Kod nekih pojedinaca, naročito starijih osoba, virus Zapadnog Nila može izazvati ozbiljnu bolest odnosno groznicu koja se manifestira upalom moždanog tkiva (encefalitis) i može biti smrtonosna. Znakovi i simptomi encefalitisa uključuju pojavu jake glavobolje, visoku temperaturu, ukočenost vrata, konfuziju, gubitak svijesti i slabosti mišića – objašnjava nam zagrebački epidemiolog prof. dr. Branko Kolarić.

Bolest se prvi put registrirala u Hrvatskoj 2012. godine, a do kraja 2019. godine zabilježeno je ukupno 110 oboljelih i četiri umrle osobe.

- Bolest je sezonska, javlja se u kasno ljeto i jesen, a u Hrvatskoj je za sada zabilježena samo u sjeverozapadnim i istočnim dijelovima. Ne postoji cjepivo, a najbolja prevencija je izbjegavanje uboda komaraca. Ovaj je virus prvi puta izoliran 1937. godine iz krvi febrilne osobe u sjevernoj Ugandi, okrugu West Nile. 1950-tih je prepoznat kao uzročnik teških meningoencefalitisa u starijih osoba, a devedesetih godina prošlog stoljeća ova zaraza se proširila sjevernom Amerikom, Europom i Bliskim istokom kao endemska bolest – ispričao je Kolarić.

Virus je dosad izoliran u više od 40 vrsta komaraca, najčešće kod roda Culex, ali i kod Aedes albopicitusa i Anophelesa, triju vrsta koje su prisutne i na našem području.

„Rezervoar zaraze su ptice s kojih komarac može prenijeti infekciju na ljude, konje i neke druge kralježnjake. No s čovjeka na čovjeka se bolest ne može prenijeti – napominje znanstvenik.

Liječnici savjetuju upotrebu repelenata.

Sredstva protiv komaraca koristite pogotovo u sumrak i u zoru kad su komarci najaktivniji, a treba našpricati sve nepokrivene dijelove tijela, dok su za zatvorene prostore korisne zaštitne mreže na prozorima i balkonskim vratima, uz primjenu repelenata za prostore. Komarcima ne odgovaraju klimatizirani i hladni prostori.

U slučaju pojave simptoma koriste se lijekovi za snižavanje temperature i analgetici, a kod ozbiljnijih simptoma kao što temperatura s višednevnom glavoboljom, treba se odmah javiti liječniku.

Početkom godine upravo je od posljedica bolesti virusa Zapadnog Nila u SAD-u preminula naša poznata glumica Mira Furlan u 65 godini. Ona je mjesecima zbog ovog virusa, kojim ju je zarazio komarac u vlastitom vrtu, bila u komi.
