Preživjeli najsmrtonosnijeg potresa u Maroku u više od šest desetljeća bore se da pronađu hranu, vodu i sklonište, dok se u nedjelju potraga za nestalima nastavlja u udaljenim selima, a postaje izglednije da će broj stradalih rasti.

Veliki broj ljudi se sprema provesti treću noć na otvorenom nakon što je potres magnitude 6.8 pogodio zemlju kasno u petak. Spasioci pokušavaju doći do najteže pogođenih sela u krševitom području planinskog lanca Atlas gdje su se urušile mnoge udaljene kuće.

Broj smrtnih slučajeva popeo se na 2122, dok je 2421 osoba ozlijeđeno.

Šteta marokanskom kulturnom blagu postala je očiglednija nakon što su lokalni mediji izvijestili o rušenju povijesno važne džamije iz 12. stoljeća. Potres je također uništio dijelove starog grada Marakeša, koji je pod zaštitom UNESCO-a.

U Moulayju Brahimu, selu 40 kilometara od Marakeša, stanovnici opisuju kako su golim rukama iz ruševina iskapali mrtve.
Yassin Noumghar (36), požalio se na manjak vode, hrane i struje, rekavši da je primio malo vladine pomoći dosad. "Izgubili smo sve, izgubili smo cijelu kuću", rekao je. "Samo želimo da nam naša vlada pomogne."

Mnoge kuće izgrađene su od blatnih opeka, drveta ili blokova od troske, struktura koje se lagano ruše. Ovo je bio najsmrtonosniji marokanski potres od 1960. godine, kad se procjenjuje da je poginulo barem 12.000 osoba.

"I dalje čekamo šatore. Još nismo primili ništa", rekao je Mohammed Nejjar, radnik koji je od pokrivača i nešto drva napravio sklonište.

Vlada je u subotu rekla da poduzima hitne mjere da odgovori na katastrofu, uključujući i slanje spasiteljskih timova koji će dijeliti pitku vodu, hranu, šatore i pokrivače.

Francuska je rekla da je spremna pomoći i da čeka službeni zahtjev Maroka. "Francuska je spremna ponuditi pomoć ako Maroko odluči da je to korisno", rekao je francuski predsjednik Emmanuel Macron na G20 samitu u New Delhiju. "U trenutku kad zatraže pomoć, bit će poslana", dodao je.

Turska, u kojoj su potresi u veljači usmrtili više od 50.000 ljudi, također nudi svoju pomoć. No do nedjelje, turski tim još nije otputovao.

Španjolska tvrdi da je od Maroka primila službeni zahtjev za pomoći te su tim od 56 spasioca i četiri psa tragača stigli u zemlju. Katar je također rekao da je njihov spasilački tim krenuo u Maroko.

Svjetska zdravstvena organizacija rekla je da je ova katastrofa pogodila više od 300.000 osoba.
Papa Frano ponudio je svoje molitve i solidarnost za žrtve.

Maroko je proglasio tri dana žalosti, a kralj Mohammed VI pozvao je na molitvu za mrtve koja će se održati u džamijama diljem zemlje.

Epicentar potresa bio je 72 kilometra jugozapadno od Marakeša, grada omiljenog među Marokancima i stranim turistima zbog svojih srednovjekovnih džamija, palača te sjemeništa bogato ukrašenih živopisnim mozaicima u labirintima uličica.

Preživjeli najsmrtonosnijeg potresa u Maroku u više od šest desetljeća bore se da pronađu hranu, vodu i sklonište, dok se u nedjelju potraga za nestalima nastavlja u udaljenim selima, a postaje izglednije da će broj stradalih rasti.

Veliki broj ljudi se sprema provesti treću noć na otvorenom nakon što je potres magnitude 6.8 pogodio zemlju kasno u petak. Spasioci pokušavaju doći do najteže pogođenih sela u krševitom području planinskog lanca Atlas gdje su se urušile mnoge udaljene kuće.

Broj smrtnih slučajeva popeo se na 2122, dok je 2421 osoba ozlijeđeno.

Šteta marokanskom kulturnom blagu postala je očiglednija nakon što su lokalni mediji izvijestili o rušenju povijesno važne džamije iz 12. stoljeća. Potres je također uništio dijelove starog grada Marakeša, koji je pod zaštitom UNESCO-a.

U Moulayju Brahimu, selu 40 kilometara od Marakeša, stanovnici opisuju kako su golim rukama iz ruševina iskapali mrtve.
Yassin Noumghar (36), požalio se na manjak vode, hrane i struje, rekavši da je primio malo vladine pomoći dosad. "Izgubili smo sve, izgubili smo cijelu kuću", rekao je. "Samo želimo da nam naša vlada pomogne."

Mnoge kuće izgrađene su od blatnih opeka, drveta ili blokova od troske, struktura koje se lagano ruše. Ovo je bio najsmrtonosniji marokanski potres od 1960. godine, kad se procjenjuje da je poginulo barem 12.000 osoba.

"I dalje čekamo šatore. Još nismo primili ništa", rekao je Mohammed Nejjar, radnik koji je od pokrivača i nešto drva napravio sklonište.

Vlada je u subotu rekla da poduzima hitne mjere da odgovori na katastrofu, uključujući i slanje spasiteljskih timova koji će dijeliti pitku vodu, hranu, šatore i pokrivače.

Francuska je rekla da je spremna pomoći i da čeka službeni zahtjev Maroka. "Francuska je spremna ponuditi pomoć ako Maroko odluči da je to korisno", rekao je francuski predsjednik Emmanuel Macron na G20 samitu u New Delhiju. "U trenutku kad zatraže pomoć, bit će poslana", dodao je.

Španjolska tvrdi da je od Maroka primila službeni zahtjev za pomoći te su tim od 56 spasioca i četiri psa tragača stigli u zemlju. Katar je također rekao da je njihov spasilački tim krenuo u Maroko.

Svjetska zdravstvena organizacija rekla je da je ova katastrofa pogodila više od 300.000 osoba.
Papa Frano ponudio je svoje molitve i solidarnost za žrtve.

Maroko je proglasio tri dana žalosti, a kralj Mohammed VI pozvao je na molitvu za mrtve koja će se održati u džamijama diljem zemlje.

Epicentar potresa bio je 72 kilometra jugozapadno od Marakeša, grada omiljenog među Marokancima i stranim turistima zbog svojih srednovjekovnih džamija, palača te sjemeništa bogato ukrašenih živopisnim mozaicima u labirintima uličica.
