Vijest da je u četvrtak u Rio de Janeiru ubijeno najmanje 25 ljudi u naoružanoj policijskoj akciji odjeknula je svijetom. Ubrzo nakon objave ove tužne vijesti, javno mišljenje te zemlje odmah se podijelilo.
Dok jedan dio javnosti podržava policijsku akciju koja je za cilj imala napad na bandu koja u svojim kriminalnim radnjama koristi djecu, drugi osuđuju žalosne posljedice koje je ta ista akcija ostavila za sobom nazivajući ju pokoljem. Revoltirani građani izašli su na ulice kako bi u sklopu protesta obznanili svoje nezadovoljstvo postupanjem civilne policije.

Sve se odvilo u faveli Jacarezinho gdje je u četvrtak u jutarnjim satima otprilike 200 pripadnika civilne policije upalo u veliku siromašnu zajednicu, a sve u cilju da se stane na kraj bandi za koju su vjerovali da u svoje redove uvodi i djecu.
Helikopter otporan na metke kružio iznad ulica sa snajperima koji su bili raspoređeni sa svake strane. Do ručka je prijavljeno najmanje 25 mrtvih, među njima i André Frias, policajac odjela za narkotike koji je pogođen u glavu. Policija i lokalni mediji ostale su žrtve opisali kao "osumnjičene", ali nisu ponudili neposredne dokaze za tu tvrdnju. Zasad se ipak radi samo o tvrdnjama.

Policijski službenici i oni koji ih podržavaju u lokalnom mediju O dia, ali i u drugima, proslavili su misiju kao bitan napad na narko-bande koje su desetljećima favele koristile kao svoju bazu i tako utječu na svakodnevni život.

Racija u četvrtak, za koju je policija rekla da treba spriječiti da djeca i tinejdžeri budu namamljeni u zločine, dogodila se usprkos nalogu Vrhovnog suda u lipnju prošle godine kojim su takvi upadi zabranjeni za vrijeme pandemije koronavirusa.
Broj policijskih operacija u favelama dramatično je opao nakon te odluke, ali se ponovno povećava od prošlog listopada.
Nedavno objavljeni podaci kojima raspolaže The Guardian pokazuju kako je policija ubila 797 ljudi u državi Rio između lipnja prošle godine i ožujka, od čega je većina ubijena u glavnom gradu ili neposrednoj blizini njega.

Vijest da je u četvrtak u Rio de Janeiru ubijeno najmanje 25 ljudi u naoružanoj policijskoj akciji odjeknula je svijetom. Ubrzo nakon objave ove tužne vijesti, javno mišljenje te zemlje odmah se podijelilo.
Dok jedan dio javnosti podržava policijsku akciju koja je za cilj imala napad na bandu koja u svojim kriminalnim radnjama koristi djecu, drugi osuđuju žalosne posljedice koje je ta ista akcija ostavila za sobom nazivajući ju pokoljem. Revoltirani građani izašli su na ulice kako bi u sklopu protesta obznanili svoje nezadovoljstvo postupanjem civilne policije.

Sve se odvilo u faveli Jacarezinho gdje je u četvrtak u jutarnjim satima otprilike 200 pripadnika civilne policije upalo u veliku siromašnu zajednicu, a sve u cilju da se stane na kraj bandi za koju su vjerovali da u svoje redove uvodi i djecu.
Helikopter otporan na metke kružio iznad ulica sa snajperima koji su bili raspoređeni sa svake strane. Do ručka je prijavljeno najmanje 25 mrtvih, među njima i André Frias, policajac odjela za narkotike koji je pogođen u glavu. Policija i lokalni mediji ostale su žrtve opisali kao "osumnjičene", ali nisu ponudili neposredne dokaze za tu tvrdnju. Zasad se ipak radi samo o tvrdnjama.

Policijski službenici i oni koji ih podržavaju u lokalnom mediju O dia, ali i u drugima, proslavili su misiju kao bitan napad na narko-bande koje su desetljećima favele koristile kao svoju bazu i tako utječu na svakodnevni život.

Racija u četvrtak, za koju je policija rekla da treba spriječiti da djeca i tinejdžeri budu namamljeni u zločine, dogodila se usprkos nalogu Vrhovnog suda u lipnju prošle godine kojim su takvi upadi zabranjeni za vrijeme pandemije koronavirusa.
Broj policijskih operacija u favelama dramatično je opao nakon te odluke, ali se ponovno povećava od prošlog listopada.
Nedavno objavljeni podaci kojima raspolaže The Guardian pokazuju kako je policija ubila 797 ljudi u državi Rio između lipnja prošle godine i ožujka, od čega je većina ubijena u glavnom gradu ili neposrednoj blizini njega.
