Nakon što je BBC koncem prošle godine otkrio da je bivši izvršni direktor poznatog modnog brenda Abercrombie & Fitch (A&F) seksualno iskorištavao i zlostavljao mladiće na događanjima koje je organizirao diljem svijeta, sad se u istragu uključio i američki FBI. Bivši izvršni direktor brenda Mike Jeffries (79) i njegov britanski partner Matthew Smith (60) već se suočavaju s građanskim tužbama zbog optužbi da su vodili operaciju trgovine ljudima u svrhu seksa.
U listopadu prošle godine BBC je objavio dokumentarni film i niz podcasta o ovom slučaju, a dvogodišnja novinarska istraga koju su proveli otkrila je da je dobro organizirana mreža koristila posrednike kako bi modnom mogulu pronašli mlade zgodne muškarce za seks. BBC je razgovarao s 12 muškaraca koji su opisali te događaje u vremenu od 2009. do 2015. godine. Nakon što je BBC koncem prošle godine otkrio da je bivši izvršni direktor poznatog modnog brenda Abercrombie & Fitch (A&F) seksualno iskorištavao i zlostavljao mladiće na događanjima koje je organizirao diljem svijeta, sad se u istragu uključio i američki FBI. Bivši izvršni direktor brenda Mike Jeffries (79) i njegov britanski partner Matthew Smith (60) već se suočavaju s građanskim tužbama zbog optužbi da su vodili operaciju trgovine ljudima u svrhu seksa.
U listopadu prošle godine BBC je objavio dokumentarni film i niz podcasta o ovom slučaju, a dvogodišnja novinarska istraga koju su proveli otkrila je da je dobro organizirana mreža koristila posrednike kako bi modnom mogulu pronašli mlade zgodne muškarce za seks. Orgije su se odvijale u njegovim njujorškim rezidencijama i luksuznim hotelima diljem svijeta, uključujući London, Pariz, Veneciju i Marakeš.

BBC je razgovarao s 12 muškaraca koji su opisali te događaje u vremenu od 2009. do 2015. godine. Osam muškaraca izjavilo je da ih je regrutirao posrednik, za kojeg su kazali kako mu nedostaje dio nosa koji je prekriven flasterom od zmijske kože. BBC ga je identificirao kao Jamesa Jacobsona. Dokumenti koje je pronašao BBC, uključujući karte za letove i itinerere događaja, otkrili su da je postojala visoko organizirana operacija koja je uključivala mrežu regruta i posrednika Jamesa Jacobsona. Također su naveli kako je Jacobson od njihovih novinara više puta tražio da se "nagode", govoreći: "Izostavi moje ime i sve ću ti reći."
Dio muškaraca koji su dovođeni modnom direktoru je naveo da su prvotno bili obmanuti oko događaja i da im nije rečeno da je u pitanju seks. Drugi su rekli da su shvatili da će se od njih tražiti seks ali ne baš i sve što se od njih očekivalo. Svi su oni bili plaćeni. Nekoliko ih je BBC-ju reklo da su im nudili mogućnost modeliranja za popularni A&F. Prema američkom zakonu, trgovina ljudima u svrhu seksa uključuje prisiljavanje odrasle osobe da otputuje u drugu državu ili zemlju radi seksa za novac uz korištenje sile, prijevare ili prisile.

Mladići su posvjedočili kako bi se na tim zabavama Mike Jeffries i Matthew Smith upustili u seksualne aktivnosti s otprilike četiri muškarca ili bi ih naveli da imaju seksualni odnos jedan s drugim. Nakon toga, muškarci su rekli da im je osoblje dalo kuverte pune tisuća dolara.
Većina muškaraca tvrdi da ih je posrednik Jacobson "seksualno auditirao", tražeći ili nudeći oralni seks prije nego što su predstavljeni Jeffriesu i Smithu. Svi su muškarci morali potpisati ugovor o tajnosti, a svoj primjerak ugovora nisu dobili. No, znali su da će biti tuženi ako progovore.
U kompaniji je Mike Jeffries bio silno utjecajna osoba i iznimno dobro plaćena. Kroz dva desetljeća od 1990-ih, transformirao je A&F iz propadajućeg dobavljača opreme u trgovine usmjerene na tinejdžere vrijedne milijarde dolara.
