Humanitarni dužnosnici upozoravaju kako u Mianmaru "nema vremena za gubljenje" nakon što je tamošnja vojna hunta obećala UN-u da će dopustiti dolazak većeg broja humanitaraca kako bi se pomoglo žrtvama katastrofalnog ciklona Nagris koji je tu zemlju pogodio prije tri tjedna.
Vojna hunta, koju je Zapad kritizirao što nije odmah dopustila organizaciju velike spasilačke akcije, provela je unatoč tomu u subotu u najteže pogođenoj delti Irrawaddy kao i u glavnom gradu Yangonu referendum o novom ustavu.
Referendum o novom ustavu u ostatku zemlje održan je 10. svibnja i prošao je s 92,4 posto nakon što je glasačima kazano da glasuju "da".
Prema podacima UN-a, u ciklonu Nagris poginulo je ili nestalo gotovo 134.000 ljudi, a bolesti i glad prijete 2,5 miljuna ljudi.
Mianmarski general Than Shwe obećao je u petak glavnom tajniku UN-a Ban Ki-moonu da će Mianmar, nakon višetjednih ograničenja, dopustiti dolazak humanitarnih djelatnika "svih nacionalnosti".
- Više nemamo vremena za gubljenje i stoga je neophodno da mianmarske vlasti odmah međunarodnoj zajednici iznesu praktične pojedinosti sporazuma -rekao je europski povjerenik za razvoj i humanitarnu pomoć Louis Michel.
Državni mediji objavili su da su UN-ovi dužnosnici i diplomati ASEAN-a i drugih donatora u petak obišli deltu s vladinim dužnosnicima.
Posjet je organiziran uoči zajedničke donatorske konferencije UN-a i ASEAN-a koja će se održati u Yangonu u nedjelju. Mianmar procjenjuje da mu treba više od 11 milijardi američkih dolara pomoći.
Konferencija bi trebala okupiti oko 60 zemalja, UN-ovih agencija i drugih humanitarnih organizacija.
Mianmarska hunta prihvatila je humanitarne letove iz mnogih zemalja, uključujući Sjedinjene Države, svojeg najžešćeg kritičara, ali odbija dopustiti dolazak američkih, francuskih i britanskih vojnih brodova s pomoći.
Primila je i pomoć i liječničke timove iz mnogih azijskih zemalja, ali mnogi zapadni humanitarci nisu dobili vize ili im je kretanje ograničeno na Yangon.
Na sastanku Bana i Than Shwea, UN-ovi dužnosnici kazali su da su vojni brodovi jako osjetljivo pitanje, ali i da je Mianmar spreman primiti pomoć i opremu s civilnih brodova i manjih čamaca.

Humanitarni dužnosnici upozoravaju kako u Mianmaru "nema vremena za gubljenje" nakon što je tamošnja vojna hunta obećala UN-u da će dopustiti dolazak većeg broja humanitaraca kako bi se pomoglo žrtvama katastrofalnog ciklona Nagris koji je tu zemlju pogodio prije tri tjedna.
Vojna hunta, koju je Zapad kritizirao što nije odmah dopustila organizaciju velike spasilačke akcije, provela je unatoč tomu u subotu u najteže pogođenoj delti Irrawaddy kao i u glavnom gradu Yangonu referendum o novom ustavu.
Referendum o novom ustavu u ostatku zemlje održan je 10. svibnja i prošao je s 92,4 posto nakon što je glasačima kazano da glasuju "da".
Prema podacima UN-a, u ciklonu Nagris poginulo je ili nestalo gotovo 134.000 ljudi, a bolesti i glad prijete 2,5 miljuna ljudi.
Mianmarski general Than Shwe obećao je u petak glavnom tajniku UN-a Ban Ki-moonu da će Mianmar, nakon višetjednih ograničenja, dopustiti dolazak humanitarnih djelatnika "svih nacionalnosti".
- Više nemamo vremena za gubljenje i stoga je neophodno da mianmarske vlasti odmah međunarodnoj zajednici iznesu praktične pojedinosti sporazuma -rekao je europski povjerenik za razvoj i humanitarnu pomoć Louis Michel.
Državni mediji objavili su da su UN-ovi dužnosnici i diplomati ASEAN-a i drugih donatora u petak obišli deltu s vladinim dužnosnicima.
Posjet je organiziran uoči zajedničke donatorske konferencije UN-a i ASEAN-a koja će se održati u Yangonu u nedjelju. Mianmar procjenjuje da mu treba više od 11 milijardi američkih dolara pomoći.
Konferencija bi trebala okupiti oko 60 zemalja, UN-ovih agencija i drugih humanitarnih organizacija.
Mianmarska hunta prihvatila je humanitarne letove iz mnogih zemalja, uključujući Sjedinjene Države, svojeg najžešćeg kritičara, ali odbija dopustiti dolazak američkih, francuskih i britanskih vojnih brodova s pomoći.
Primila je i pomoć i liječničke timove iz mnogih azijskih zemalja, ali mnogi zapadni humanitarci nisu dobili vize ili im je kretanje ograničeno na Yangon.
Na sastanku Bana i Than Shwea, UN-ovi dužnosnici kazali su da su vojni brodovi jako osjetljivo pitanje, ali i da je Mianmar spreman primiti pomoć i opremu s civilnih brodova i manjih čamaca.
