Predsjednik Šri Lanke Gotayaba Rajapaksa se u nedjelju počeo pripremati konačno odstupiti s vlasti nakon što je pobjegao od prosvjednika koji su provalili u njegovu rezidenciju, prisilivši ga da najavi ostavku.

Mir se vratio na ulice grada Colomba, šrilanskog sjedišta izvršne vlasti, a prosvjednici su slavili jer je predsjednik Rajapaksa pristao odstupiti nakon što je provaljeno u njegovu rezidenciju zbog  kolapsa gospodarstva južnoazijske otočne države.

Događaji u subotu bili su vrhunac višemjesečnih protuvladinih prosvjeda uzrokovanih gospodarskog krizom bez presedana, zbog koje je država bankrotirala, i korupcijom vladajućeg klana Rajapaksa.

Stotine tisuća ljudi okupilo se u Colombu u subotu kako bi od vlade zatražili da preuzme odgovornost za loše upravljanje državnim financijama i za ozbiljne nestašice hrane i goriva.

Nakon što su provalili kroz vrata predsjedničke palače, masa prosvjednika je prošla kroz sve njene prostorije, a neki su skakali u bazen.

Drugi su viđeni kako se smiju i izležavaju u veličanstvenim spavaćim sobama, a jedan je tvrdio da je pronašao predsjednikove gaće.

Rajapaksa se nakon bijega ukrcao na plovilo u luci u Colombu, kojim je prevezen do južnog dijela otoka, gdje je rekao da će konačno popustiti zahtjevima za ostavku.

"Kako bi osigurao mirnu tranziciju, predsjednik je rekao da će odstupiti 13. srpnja", rekao je predsjednik parlamenta Mahinda Abeywardana u izjavi za televiziju.

Rajapaksu su iz njegove rezidencije izvukli vojnici koji su pucali u zrak kako bi obuzdali gomilu.

Ubrzo nakon provale u predsjedničku palaču, prosvjednici su zauzeli i obližnji predsjednikov ured na obali.

Premijer Ranil Wickremesinghe, koji bi trebao naslijediti Rajapaksu, sazvao je sastanak s političkim vođama i rekao da je spreman odstupiti kako bi se omogućilo stvaranje vlade nacionalnog jedinstva.

No, time nije uspio smiriti prosvjednike, koji su upali u premijerovu privatnu rezidenciju i zapalili je nakon što je pala noć.

Snimke dijeljene na društvenim mrežama prikazuju gomilu kako se veseli zbog požara, koji je izbio ubrzo nakon što su tjelohranitelji, koji su čuvali Wickremesinghea, napali nekoliko novinara ispred njegovog doma.

Dosad nije prijavljena nijedna žrtva požara, a policija je rekla da Wickremesinghe i njegova obitelj nisu bili u kući u vrijeme požara.

Sigurnosne snage pokušale su raspršiti mase koje su se ranije okupile u administrativnom dijelu Colomba, a deseci su ozlijeđeni u sukobima.

Glasnogovornica glavne bolnice u Colombu je rekla da je troje ljudi primljeno zbog rana od vatrenog oružja, a 36 drugih pati od otežanog disanja zbog udisanja suzavca.

Šri Lanka se mjesecima suočava s manjkom osnovnih namirnica, dugotrajnim nestašicama električne energije i ogromnom inflacijom nakon što je ostala bez deviza nužnih za uvoz prijeko potrebni stvari.

Vlada nije uspjela platiti 51 milijardu dolara vanjskog duga i traži pomoć Međunarodnog monetarnog fonda.

Šri Lanka je gotovo iscrpila svoje male zalihe goriva, a ljudi koji nisu mogli putovati do glavnog grada održali su prosvjede u drugim gradovima diljem otoka u subotu.

Predsjednik Šri Lanke Gotayaba Rajapaksa se u nedjelju počeo pripremati konačno odstupiti s vlasti nakon što je pobjegao od prosvjednika koji su provalili u njegovu rezidenciju, prisilivši ga da najavi ostavku.

Mir se vratio na ulice grada Colomba, šrilanskog sjedišta izvršne vlasti, a prosvjednici su slavili jer je predsjednik Rajapaksa pristao odstupiti nakon što je provaljeno u njegovu rezidenciju zbog  kolapsa gospodarstva južnoazijske otočne države.

Događaji u subotu bili su vrhunac višemjesečnih protuvladinih prosvjeda uzrokovanih gospodarskog krizom bez presedana, zbog koje je država bankrotirala, i korupcijom vladajućeg klana Rajapaksa.

Stotine tisuća ljudi okupilo se u Colombu u subotu kako bi od vlade zatražili da preuzme odgovornost za loše upravljanje državnim financijama i za ozbiljne nestašice hrane i goriva.

Nakon što su provalili kroz vrata predsjedničke palače, masa prosvjednika je prošla kroz sve njene prostorije, a neki su skakali u bazen.

Drugi su viđeni kako se smiju i izležavaju u veličanstvenim spavaćim sobama, a jedan je tvrdio da je pronašao predsjednikove gaće.

Rajapaksa se nakon bijega ukrcao na plovilo u luci u Colombu, kojim je prevezen do južnog dijela otoka, gdje je rekao da će konačno popustiti zahtjevima za ostavku.

"Kako bi osigurao mirnu tranziciju, predsjednik je rekao da će odstupiti 13. srpnja", rekao je predsjednik parlamenta Mahinda Abeywardana u izjavi za televiziju.

Rajapaksu su iz njegove rezidencije izvukli vojnici koji su pucali u zrak kako bi obuzdali gomilu.

Ubrzo nakon provale u predsjedničku palaču, prosvjednici su zauzeli i obližnji predsjednikov ured na obali.

Premijer Ranil Wickremesinghe, koji bi trebao naslijediti Rajapaksu, sazvao je sastanak s političkim vođama i rekao da je spreman odstupiti kako bi se omogućilo stvaranje vlade nacionalnog jedinstva.

No, time nije uspio smiriti prosvjednike, koji su upali u premijerovu privatnu rezidenciju i zapalili je nakon što je pala noć.

Snimke dijeljene na društvenim mrežama prikazuju gomilu kako se veseli zbog požara, koji je izbio ubrzo nakon što su tjelohranitelji, koji su čuvali Wickremesinghea, napali nekoliko novinara ispred njegovog doma.

Dosad nije prijavljena nijedna žrtva požara, a policija je rekla da Wickremesinghe i njegova obitelj nisu bili u kući u vrijeme požara.

Sigurnosne snage pokušale su raspršiti mase koje su se ranije okupile u administrativnom dijelu Colomba, a deseci su ozlijeđeni u sukobima.

Glasnogovornica glavne bolnice u Colombu je rekla da je troje ljudi primljeno zbog rana od vatrenog oružja, a 36 drugih pati od otežanog disanja zbog udisanja suzavca.

Šri Lanka se mjesecima suočava s manjkom osnovnih namirnica, dugotrajnim nestašicama električne energije i ogromnom inflacijom nakon što je ostala bez deviza nužnih za uvoz prijeko potrebni stvari.

Vlada nije uspjela platiti 51 milijardu dolara vanjskog duga i traži pomoć Međunarodnog monetarnog fonda.

Šri Lanka je gotovo iscrpila svoje male zalihe goriva, a ljudi koji nisu mogli putovati do glavnog grada održali su prosvjede u drugim gradovima diljem otoka u subotu.

Predsjednik Šri Lanke Gotayaba Rajapaksa se u nedjelju počeo pripremati konačno odstupiti s vlasti nakon što je pobjegao od prosvjednika koji su provalili u njegovu rezidenciju, prisilivši ga da najavi ostavku.

Mir se vratio na ulice grada Colomba, šrilanskog sjedišta izvršne vlasti, a prosvjednici su slavili jer je predsjednik Rajapaksa pristao odstupiti nakon što je provaljeno u njegovu rezidenciju zbog  kolapsa gospodarstva južnoazijske otočne države.

Događaji u subotu bili su vrhunac višemjesečnih protuvladinih prosvjeda uzrokovanih gospodarskog krizom bez presedana, zbog koje je država bankrotirala, i korupcijom vladajućeg klana Rajapaksa.

Stotine tisuća ljudi okupilo se u Colombu u subotu kako bi od vlade zatražili da preuzme odgovornost za loše upravljanje državni...
