Šri Lanka je naredila vojsci da pošalje svoje pripadnike na stotine benzinskih postaja kako bi pomogli u distribuciji goriva, nakon što su iznenadni rast cijena ključnih roba i nestašica prisilili desetke tisuća ljudi da satima čekaju u redovima, piše Jutarnji list. 

Ova otočna država u Indijskom oceanu bori se s valutnom krizom koja je dovela do devalvacije njezine valute i pogodila sposobnost plaćanja osnovnih uvoznih proizvoda kao što su hrana, lijekovi i gorivo, što je potaknulo vladu da se obrati Međunarodnom monetarnom fondu (MMF), prenosi Al Jazeera.

Odluka da se vojne postrojbe razmjeste u blizini benzinskih crpki i točki za opskrbu kerozinom donesena je nakon što su tri starije osobe umrle tijekom čekanja u dugim redovima, rekli su dužnosnici.

"Najmanje dva pripadnika vojske bit će raspoređena na svakoj crpki za gorivo", rekao je vojni glasnogovornik Nilantha Premaratne za novinsku agenciju Reuters, dodajući da će vojnici pomoći u organizaciji distribucije goriva, ali neće biti uključeni u kontrolu mase.

Taj je potez odgovor na pritužbe zbog gomilanja zaliha i neučinkovitu distribuciju, rekao je glasnogovornik vlade Ramesh Pathirana. "Vojska je raspoređena kako bi pomogla javnosti, a ne da bi kršila njihova ljudska prava", dodao je.

Napetost zbog nestašice dovela je do sporadičnog nasilja među stanovnicima, koji se tuku i svađaju kako bi kupili gorivo i druge osnovne potrepštine.

Policija je priopćila da je muškarac u ponedjeljak nasmrt izboden u svađi s jednim vozačem trokolice, dok su prošli tjedan tri starija muškarca umrla dok su čekali u redu za kupnju goriva na velikoj vrućini.

"Narav ljudi postaje sve gora kako su redovi sve duži", rekao je visoki obrambeni dužnosnik agenciji AFP, pod uvjetom da ostane anoniman.

"Donesena je odluka (u ponedjeljak) navečer da se pozovu vojnici kao pojačanje policiji. To je učinjeno kako bi se ljude obeshrabrilo da izazivaju bilo kakve nerede".

Vojni dužnosnici kažu da su vojnici raspoređeni na crpnim stanicama državne naftne tvrtke Ceylon Petroleum Corporation, koja čini dvije trećine maloprodaje goriva u zemlji od 22 milijuna ljudi.

Snimke incidenata objavljene na društvenim mrežama u ponedjeljak prikazuju skupinu bijesnih žena kako blokiraju autobus koji prevozi turiste u znak prosvjeda protiv nestašice kerozina koji se koristi u kuhalima.

Na brojnim benzinskim postajama ljudi su kampirali preko noći kako bi dočekali da kupe dizelsko i benzinsko gorivo, priopćila je policija.

Ured predsjednika Gotabaye Rajapakse najavio je u srijedu sastanak svih političkih stranaka kako bi se razgovaralo o gospodarskoj krizi, no oporbene skupine najavile su bojkot sastanka.

Financijska kriza na Šri Lanci uzrokovana je kritičnim manjkom strane valute, zbog čega trgovci nisu u mogućnosti financirati uvoz.

Pandemija covida-19 'ugušila' je turistički sektor, koji je ključni izvor deviznih prihoda, a uplate građana Šri Lanke koji rade u inozemstvu također su naglo smanjene.

Predsjednik Rajapaksa je prošlog tjedna najavio da će zemlja zatražiti pomoć MMF-a.

Nestašice su izazvale pustoš u trgovinama u gotovo svim aspektima svakodnevnog života, a vlasti su prošlog tjedna odgodile ispite za milijune učenika zbog manjka papira i tinte.

Šri Lanka je naredila vojsci da pošalje svoje pripadnike na stotine benzinskih postaja kako bi pomogli u distribuciji goriva, nakon što su iznenadni rast cijena ključnih roba i nestašica prisilili desetke tisuća ljudi da satima čekaju u redovima, piše Jutarnji list. 

Ova otočna država u Indijskom oceanu bori se s valutnom krizom koja je dovela do devalvacije njezine valute i pogodila sposobnost plaćanja osnovnih uvoznih proizvoda kao što su hrana, lijekovi i gorivo, što je potaknulo vladu da se obrati Međunarodnom monetarnom fondu (MMF), prenosi Al Jazeera.

Odluka da se vojne postrojbe razmjeste u blizini benzinskih crpki i točki za opskrbu kerozinom donesena je nakon što su tri starije osobe umrle tijekom čekanja u dugim redovima, rekli su dužnosnici.

"Najmanje dva pripadnika vojske bit će raspoređena na svakoj crpki za gorivo", rekao je vojni glasnogovornik Nilantha Premaratne za novinsku agenciju Reuters, dodajući da će vojnici pomoći u organizaciji distribucije goriva, ali neće biti uključeni u kontrolu mase.

Taj je potez odgovor na pritužbe zbog gomilanja zaliha i neučinkovitu distribuciju, rekao je glasnogovornik vlade Ramesh Pathirana. "Vojska je raspoređena kako bi pomogla javnosti, a ne da bi kršila njihova ljudska prava", dodao je.

Napetost zbog nestašice dovela je do sporadičnog nasilja među stanovnicima, koji se tuku i svađaju kako bi kupili gorivo i druge osnovne potrepštine.

Policija je priopćila da je muškarac u ponedjeljak nasmrt izboden u svađi s jednim vozačem trokolice, dok su prošli tjedan tri starija muškarca umrla dok su čekali u redu za kupnju goriva na velikoj vrućini.

"Narav ljudi postaje sve gora kako su redovi sve duži", rekao je visoki obrambeni dužnosnik agenciji AFP, pod uvjetom da ostane anoniman.

"Donesena je odluka (u ponedjeljak) navečer da se pozovu vojnici kao pojačanje policiji. To je učinjeno kako bi se ljude obeshrabrilo da izazivaju bilo kakve nerede".

Vojni dužnosnici kažu da su vojnici raspoređeni na crpnim stanicama državne naftne tvrtke Ceylon Petroleum Corporation, koja čini dvije trećine maloprodaje goriva u zemlji od 22 milijuna ljudi.

Snimke incidenata objavljene na društvenim mrežama u ponedjeljak prikazuju skupinu bijesnih žena kako blokiraju autobus koji prevozi turiste u znak prosvjeda protiv nestašice kerozina koji se koristi u kuhalima.

Na brojnim benzinskim postajama ljudi su kampirali preko noći kako bi dočekali da kupe dizelsko i benzinsko gorivo, priopćila je policija.

Ured predsjednika Gotabaye Rajapakse najavio je u srijedu sastanak svih političkih stranaka kako bi se razgovaralo o gospodarskoj krizi, no oporbene skupine najavile su bojkot sastanka.

Financijska kriza na Šri Lanci uzrokovana je kritičnim manjkom strane valute, zbog čega trgovci nisu u mogućnosti financirati uvoz.

Pandemija covida-19 'ugušila' je turistički sektor, koji je ključni izvor deviznih prihoda, a uplate građana Šri Lanke koji rade u inozemstvu također su naglo smanjene.

Predsjednik Rajapaksa je prošlog tjedna najavio da će zemlja zatražiti pomoć MMF-a.

Nestašice su izazvale pustoš u trgovinama u gotovo svim aspektima svakodnevnog života, a vlasti su prošlog tjedna odgodile ispite za milijune učenika zbog manjka papira i tinte.
