Bradford, grad u Velikoj Britaniji nekoć poznat po jakoj tekstilnoj industriji i bogatoj filmskoj tradiciji, postao je najopasniji grad u Europi. Smješten u grofoviji West Yorkshire taj engleski grad više nije prepoznatljiv po Nacionalnom muzeju znanosti i medija već po stopi kriminaliteta.

Tijekom 2022. godine evidentirano je čak 159 počinjenih kriminalnih djela na 1000 stanovnika grada, navodi se u Plumpotovoj statistici. Najčešći zločini u Bradfordu su nasilje i seksualni prijestupi za kojima slijedi remećenje javnog reda i mira te krađe.

Jedan od uzroka problema je i velika nezaposlenost, pogotovo među mlađom populacijom navodi Guardian. Bradford pored toga što ima jednu od najmlađijh populaciju u Velikoj Britaniji, također ima i jednu od najvećih zajednica migranata koji podrijetlo vuku sa indijskog potkontinenta (ponajviše iz Pakistana), a koja po nekim procjenama sačinjava oko 30 posto gradskog stanovništva.

Sve skupa stvara recept za gradske nemire i rasprostranjeni kriminal. Rasna, klasna i vjerska getoiziranost grad čini jednim od najopasnijih za život u Velikoj Britaniji i Europi. Uz Bradford se u europskom vrhu po stopi kriminaliteta još navode gradovi poput Coventryja i Birminghama u Velikoj Britaniji te Marseillea i Catanie u Francuskoj odnosno Italiji.

Budući da Bradfordu ovo nije prvi put da se pronašao na listi najopasnijeg grada već su se u bliskoj prošlosti policijski dužnosnici iz tog grada osjećali prozvani zbog iznošenja u javnost poražavajuće statistike. Jedan od demantija je glasio:

- Policija West Yorkshirea ne priznaje ove podatke i ne prihvaća kako bilo koja metodologija može pružiti vjerodostojnu usporedbu između kontinenata, zemalja i gradova. Bradford je sigurno mjesto za život, rad i posjete.

Kao i u svakom gradu u kojem postoje neimaština i siromaštvo, naravno postoje izazovi. Međutim, blisko surađujemo s partnerskim agencijama i zajednicama kako bismo učinkovito rješavali probleme kako se pojavljuju - rekao je načelnik bradfordske policije Rob  McCoubrey za Express.co.uk.

Zloguka najava svrstavanja Bradforda na indekse najopasnijih gradova na nacionalnoj razini bili su neredi iz 2001. godine izazvani zbog etničkih tenzija. Podsjećamo, tada je grupa mladih britanskih neonacista izvela napade na objekte u vlasništvu azijskih migranata što je rezultiralo neredima u kojima je sudjelovalo preko tisuću ljudi, od čega je tristo uhićeno.

Da nešto nije u redu između novopridošlica i domicilnog stanovništva potvrdio je i slučaj iz sad već davne 1989. godine kada je u Bradfordu na javnoj površini organizirano spaljivanje knjiga slavnog pisca Salmana Rushdiea čiji je roman Sotonski stihovi optužen za bogohuljenje.

Nadamo se da će Bradford ovu vrstu slave u skoroj budućnosti nadići te opet postati poznat po industriji, a ne po kriminalu.

Bradford, grad u Velikoj Britaniji nekoć poznat po jakoj tekstilnoj industriji i bogatoj filmskoj tradiciji, postao je najopasniji grad u Europi. Smješten u grofoviji West Yorkshire taj engleski grad više nije prepoznatljiv po Nacionalnom muzeju znanosti i medija već po stopi kriminaliteta.

Tijekom 2022. godine evidentirano je čak 159 počinjenih kriminalnih djela na 1000 stanovnika grada, navodi se u Plumpotovoj statistici. Najčešći zločini u Bradfordu su nasilje i seksualni prijestupi za kojima slijedi remećenje javnog reda i mira te krađe.

Jedan od uzroka problema je i velika nezaposlenost, pogotovo među mlađom populacijom navodi Guardian. Bradford pored toga što ima jednu od najmlađijh populaciju u Velikoj Britaniji, također ima i jednu od najvećih zajednica migranata koji podrijetlo vuku sa indijskog potkontinenta (ponajviše iz Pakistana), a koja po nekim procjenama sačinjava oko 30 posto gradskog stanovništva.

Sve skupa stvara recept za gradske nemire i rasprostranjeni kriminal. Rasna, klasna i vjerska getoiziranost grad čini jednim od najopasnijih za život u Velikoj Britaniji i Europi. Uz Bradford se u europskom vrhu po stopi kriminaliteta još navode gradovi poput Coventryja i Birminghama u Velikoj Britaniji te Marseillea i Catanie u Francuskoj odnosno Italiji.

Budući da Bradfordu ovo nije prvi put da se pronašao na listi najopasnijeg grada već su se u bliskoj prošlosti policijski dužnosnici iz tog grada osjećali prozvani zbog iznošenja u javnost poražavajuće statistike. Jedan od demantija je glasio:

- Policija West Yorkshirea ne priznaje ove podatke i ne prihvaća kako bilo koja metodologija može pružiti vjerodostojnu usporedbu između kontinenata, zemalja i gradova. Bradford je sigurno mjesto za život, rad i posjete.

Kao i u svakom gradu u kojem postoje neimaština i siromaštvo, naravno postoje izazovi. Međutim, blisko surađujemo s partnerskim agencijama i zajednicama kako bismo učinkovito rješavali probleme kako se pojavljuju - rekao je načelnik bradfordske policije Rob  McCoubrey za Express.co.uk.

Zloguka najava svrstavanja Bradforda na indekse najopasnijih gradova na nacionalnoj razini bili su neredi iz 2001. godine izazvani zbog etničkih tenzija. Podsjećamo, tada je grupa mladih britanskih neonacista izvela napade na objekte u vlasništvu azijskih migranata što je rezultiralo neredima u kojima je sudjelovalo preko tisuću ljudi, od čega je tristo uhićeno.

Da nešto nije u redu između novopridošlica i domicilnog stanovništva potvrdio je i slučaj iz sad već davne 1989. godine kada je u Bradfordu na javnoj površini organizirano spaljivanje knjiga slavnog pisca Salmana Rushdiea čiji je roman Sotonski stihovi optužen za bogohuljenje.

Nadamo se da će Bradford ovu vrstu slave u skoroj budućnosti nadići te opet postati poznat po industriji, a ne po kriminalu.
