Belgijske spalionice droge više nisu u stanju pratiti tempo zaplijena tamošnje policije u luci Antwerpen. Riječ je o "ledenjaku droge", kako ga nazivaju tamošnji mediji, a navodno se radi o tolikoj količini da vlasti nisu u stanju paliti onoliko droge koliko se zaplijeni po danu, piše Jutarnji.

Droga koja leži u skladištima belgijske luke vrijedna je i nekoliko stotina milijuna eura. Vlasti opravdano strahuju od mogućeg desanta narkomafije na ta ista skladišta.

"Hitno tražimo dodatne kapacitete za spaljivanje", poručio je Vincent Van Quickenborne, belgijski ministar pravosuđa. "Činimo sve što je u našoj moći kako bi ograničili sigurnosnu prijetnju. Skladištenje ove droge u nadležnosti je carinske službe ali potrebno je da sve nadzire i policija te druge sigurnosne službe", tvrdi Van Quickenborne.

Belgija je na neslavnom putu u novu rekordnu godinu što se zapljena tiče. Prošle je godine u luci Antwerpen zaplijenjeno 90 tona kokaina, a očekuje se da će do kraja godine ukupno zaplijeniti i više od 100 tona kokaina ulične vrijednosti od preko 15 milijardi eura. Deseci tona kokaina čekaju uništenje u carinskim skladištima, a zbog različitih sigurnosnih razloga i postojećih kapaciteta može se spaliti samo 1,5 tona kokaina.

Prije deset dana carinici su zaplijenili 7,9 tona kokaina, vrijednog više od 200 milijuna eura, prokrijumčarenog u kontejneru s bananama iz Ekvadora, čime se dodatno povećala količina droge koju treba uništiti.

Policija u Antwerpenu rasporedila je dodatne jedinice da čuvaju carinska skladišta, a Bart de Wever, gradonačelnik Antwerpena, pisao je vlastima upozoravajući da su bande počele koristiti i dronove kako bi snimile gdje se skladišti kokain.

Belgijski ministar pravosuđa, Vincent Van Quickenborne, itekako je svjestan sigurnosnog rizika. Policija je u rujnu osujetila navodnu zavjeru šefova narkomafije koja je uključivala i njegovu otmicu. Tada su ispred kuće ministra pravosuđa uhićena trojica muškaraca, naoružana kalašnjikovima, bombama i opremljena "remenima za vezivanje." Pretpostavlja se da su otmičari planirali držati ministra pravosuđa kao taoca u zamjenu za oslobađanje jednog od glavnih šefova narkomafije.

U posljednjem desetljeću godišnje zapljene kokaina u Belgiji porasle su s pet na 90 tona prošle godine, a tamošnji se dužnosnici i dalje boje da hvataju tek 10 posto droge koja na kraju ipak dospije na ulice. Povijesne trgovačke veze Antwerpena s Panamom, Ekvadorom i Paragvajem pretvorile su luku u glavno središte za uvoz kokaina na Stari kontinent.

Lokalne vlasti više uopće nisu kapacitarne da drže korak s narko bandama od kojih su mnoge sa Zapadnog Balkana. U Antwerpen svake godine stigne oko 300.000 brodskih kontejnera, a otvaraju se samo visokorizične pošiljke - koje iznose jedan posto ukupnih ulazaka u luku.

Belgijske spalionice droge više nisu u stanju pratiti tempo zaplijena tamošnje policije u luci Antwerpen. Riječ je o "ledenjaku droge", kako ga nazivaju tamošnji mediji, a navodno se radi o tolikoj količini da vlasti nisu u stanju paliti onoliko droge koliko se zaplijeni po danu, piše Jutarnji.

Droga koja leži u skladištima belgijske luke vrijedna je i nekoliko stotina milijuna eura. Vlasti opravdano strahuju od mogućeg desanta narkomafije na ta ista skladišta.

"Hitno tražimo dodatne kapacitete za spaljivanje", poručio je Vincent Van Quickenborne, belgijski ministar pravosuđa. "Činimo sve što je u našoj moći kako bi ograničili sigurnosnu prijetnju. Skladištenje ove droge u nadležnosti je carinske službe ali potrebno je da sve nadzire i policija te druge sigurnosne službe", tvrdi Van Quickenborne.

Belgija je na neslavnom putu u novu rekordnu godinu što se zapljena tiče. Prošle je godine u luci Antwerpen zaplijenjeno 90 tona kokaina, a očekuje se da će do kraja godine ukupno zaplijeniti i više od 100 tona kokaina ulične vrijednosti od preko 15 milijardi eura. Deseci tona kokaina čekaju uništenje u carinskim skladištima, a zbog različitih sigurnosnih razloga i postojećih kapaciteta može se spaliti samo 1,5 tona kokaina.

Prije deset dana carinici su zaplijenili 7,9 tona kokaina, vrijednog više od 200 milijuna eura, prokrijumčarenog u kontejneru s bananama iz Ekvadora, čime se dodatno povećala količina droge koju treba uništiti.

Policija u Antwerpenu rasporedila je dodatne jedinice da čuvaju carinska skladišta, a Bart de Wever, gradonačelnik Antwerpena, pisao je vlastima upozoravajući da su bande počele koristiti i dronove kako bi snimile gdje se skladišti kokain.

Belgijski ministar pravosuđa, Vincent Van Quickenborne, itekako je svjestan sigurnosnog rizika. Policija je u rujnu osujetila navodnu zavjeru šefova narkomafije koja je uključivala i njegovu otmicu. Tada su ispred kuće ministra pravosuđa uhićena trojica muškaraca, naoružana kalašnjikovima, bombama i opremljena "remenima za vezivanje." Pretpostavlja se da su otmičari planirali držati ministra pravosuđa kao taoca u zamjenu za oslobađanje jednog od glavnih šefova narkomafije.

U posljednjem desetljeću godišnje zapljene kokaina u Belgiji porasle su s pet na 90 tona prošle godine, a tamošnji se dužnosnici i dalje boje da hvataju tek 10 posto droge koja na kraju ipak dospije na ulice. Povijesne trgovačke veze Antwerpena s Panamom, Ekvadorom i Paragvajem pretvorile su luku u glavno središte za uvoz kokaina na Stari kontinent.

Lokalne vlasti više uopće nisu kapacitarne da drže korak s narko bandama od kojih su mnoge sa Zapadnog Balkana. U Antwerpen svake godine stigne oko 300.000 brodskih kontejnera, a otvaraju se samo visokorizične pošiljke - koje iznose jedan posto ukupnih ulazaka u luku.

Belgijske spalionice droge više nisu u stanju pratiti tempo zaplijena tamošnje policije u luci Antwerpen. Riječ je o "ledenjaku droge", kako ga nazivaju tamošnji mediji, a navodno se radi o tolikoj količini da vlasti nisu u stanju paliti onoliko droge koliko se zaplijeni po danu, piše Jutarnji.

Droga koja leži u skladištima belgijske luke vrijedna je i nekoliko stotina milijuna eura. Vlasti opravdano strahuju od mogućeg desanta narkomafije na ta ista skladišta.

"Hitno tražimo dodatne kapacitete za spaljivanje", poručio je Vincent Van Quickenborne, belgijski ministar pravosuđa. "Činimo sve što je u našoj moći kako bi ograničili sigurnosnu prijetnju.
