Nasa će u ponedjeljak pokušati upravljati minijaturnim helikopterom Ingenuity (dovitljivost) iznad površine Marsa, što bi bio prvi kontrolirani let letjelice na drugom planetu, piše Guardian.

Ako se sve bude odvijalo po planu, helikopter težak 1,8 kilograma postupno će se spuštati do visine od oko tri metra iznad površine Marsa, ondje će lebdjeti 30 sekundi, a zatim će se zarotirati prije nego što lagano sleti na površinu na sve četiri noge.

Uspije li, bit će to prvi let neke letjelice na drugom planetu.

Let je trebao započeti u 8.30 po srednjoeuropskom vremenu (7.30 GMT), no podaci koji će potvrditi ishod leta do Nase će stići tek tri sata kasnije ili oko 11.30, piše Guardian.

Probni će se let odvijati na oko 280 milijuna kilometara od Zemlje, na dnu velikoga isušenog bazena na Marsu, nazvanog krater Jezero, koji je dugačak 45 km. Uspjeh će ovisiti o autonomnim, unaprijed programiranim uputama za let Ingenuityja.

"Trenutak koji članovi našeg tima iščekuju vrlo je blizu", rekla je projekt menadžerica Ingenuityja Mimi Aung,

Do Marsa stigao uz pomoć rovera Perseverance

Helikopter je stigao do Marsa uz pomoć rovera Perseverance, teškog oko 1000 kg, koji je u krater Jezero sletio 18. veljače nakon gotovo sedmomjesečnog putovanja svemirom.

Iz Nase se nadaju da će dobiti fotografije i video snimke leta snimljene kamerama postavljenim na helikopteru, ali i na roveru Perseverance, 'parkiranom' 76 metara dalje.

Ako probni test uspije, Ingenuity će u idućih nekoliko tjedana napraviti još nekoliko duljih letova, premda će mu između svakog leta biti potrebno četiri do pet dana pauze da bi napunio baterije.

Opasnost predstavljaju jaki udari vjetra

"Ne postoji sustav za auto-ispravljanje pa će, ako slijetanje ne bude u skladu s našim očekivanjima to biti kraj misije", rekla je Aung, dodavši da bi neočekivano jaki udari vjetra mogli predstavljati jednu od potencijalnih opasnosti koja bi mogla negativno utjecati na uspjeh leta.

Nasini se znanstvenici nadaju da bi Ingenuity mogao utrti put za nadzor iz zraka Marsa i ostalih odredišta u Sunčevu sustavu, poput Venere ili Saturnova mjeseca Titana.

Mali lagani zrakoplov već je prošao rani test te je pokazao da može podnijeti noćne temperature koje padaju i do minus 90 Celzijevih stupnjeva, pri čemu koristi samo solarnu energiju za punjenje i za održavanje topline u unutarnjim jedinicama. Helikopter se napaja litijevim baterijama.

Planirani let Ingenuityja odgođen je prije desetak dana zbog tehničkih problema, odnosno nakon ispitivanja brzih okretaja rotora koji je tada pokazao probleme u polijetanju. Nasa je objavila da je problem u međuvremenu otklonjen.

Nasa će u ponedjeljak pokušati upravljati minijaturnim helikopterom Ingenuity (dovitljivost) iznad površine Marsa, što bi bio prvi kontrolirani let letjelice na drugom planetu, piše Guardian.

Ako se sve bude odvijalo po planu, helikopter težak 1,8 kilograma postupno će se spuštati do visine od oko tri metra iznad površine Marsa, ondje će lebdjeti 30 sekundi, a zatim će se zarotirati prije nego što lagano sleti na površinu na sve četiri noge.

Uspije li, bit će to prvi let neke letjelice na drugom planetu.

Let je trebao započeti u 8.30 po srednjoeuropskom vremenu (7.30 GMT), no podaci koji će potvrditi ishod leta do Nase će stići tek tri sata kasnije ili oko 11.30, piše Guardian.

Probni će se let odvijati na oko 280 milijuna kilometara od Zemlje, na dnu velikoga isušenog bazena na Marsu, nazvanog krater Jezero, koji je dugačak 45 km. Uspjeh će ovisiti o autonomnim, unaprijed programiranim uputama za let Ingenuityja.

"Trenutak koji članovi našeg tima iščekuju vrlo je blizu", rekla je projekt menadžerica Ingenuityja Mimi Aung,

Do Marsa stigao uz pomoć rovera Perseverance

Helikopter je stigao do Marsa uz pomoć rovera Perseverance, teškog oko 1000 kg, koji je u krater Jezero sletio 18. veljače nakon gotovo sedmomjesečnog putovanja svemirom.

Iz Nase se nadaju da će dobiti fotografije i video snimke leta snimljene kamerama postavljenim na helikopteru, ali i na roveru Perseverance, 'parkiranom' 76 metara dalje.

Ako probni test uspije, Ingenuity će u idućih nekoliko tjedana napraviti još nekoliko duljih letova, premda će mu između svakog leta biti potrebno četiri do pet dana pauze da bi napunio baterije.

Opasnost predstavljaju jaki udari vjetra

"Ne postoji sustav za auto-ispravljanje pa će, ako slijetanje ne bude u skladu s našim očekivanjima to biti kraj misije", rekla je Aung, dodavši da bi neočekivano jaki udari vjetra mogli predstavljati jednu od potencijalnih opasnosti koja bi mogla negativno utjecati na uspjeh leta.

Nasini se znanstvenici nadaju da bi Ingenuity mogao utrti put za nadzor iz zraka Marsa i ostalih odredišta u Sunčevu sustavu, poput Venere ili Saturnova mjeseca Titana.

Mali lagani zrakoplov već je prošao rani test te je pokazao da može podnijeti noćne temperature koje padaju i do minus 90 Celzijevih stupnjeva, pri čemu koristi samo solarnu energiju za punjenje i za održavanje topline u unutarnjim jedinicama. Helikopter se napaja litijevim baterijama.

Planirani let Ingenuityja odgođen je prije desetak dana zbog tehničkih problema, odnosno nakon ispitivanja brzih okretaja rotora koji je tada pokazao probleme u polijetanju. Nasa je objavila da je problem u međuvremenu otklonjen.

Nasa će u ponedjeljak pokušati upravljati minijaturnim helikopterom Ingenuity (dovitljivost) iznad površine Marsa, što bi bio prvi kontrolirani let letjelice na drugom planetu, piše Guardian.

Ako se sve bude odvijalo po planu, helikopter težak 1,8 kilograma postupno će se spuštati do visine od oko tri metra iznad površine Marsa, ondje će lebdjeti 30 sekundi, a zatim će se zarotirati prije nego što lagano sleti na površinu na sve četiri noge.

Uspije li, bit će to prvi let neke letjelice na drugom planetu.

Let je trebao započeti u 8.30 po srednjoeuropskom vremenu (7.30 GMT), no podaci koji će potvrditi ishod leta do Nase će stići tek tri sata kasnije ili oko 11.30, piše Guardian.
