Prema novom globalnom izvješću objavljenom u srijedu, onečišćenje zraka godišnje rezultira prijevremenom smrću oko 9 milijuna ljudi u svijetu, a stručnjaci upozoravaju na to da sve više ljudi umire i od posljedica trovanja olovom.

Otpad koji stvara čovjek, a nakuplja se u zraku, vodi i u tlu, rijetko ubija ljude odmah. Najčešće je s odmakom uzrok razvoja srčanih bolesti, raka, respiratornih problema, proljeva i ostalih teških bolesti.

Kombinacija urbanizacije i onečišćenja zraka industrijskim procesima rezultirala je porastom od 7 posto smrtnih slučajeva povezanih s onečišćenjem u razdoblju od 2015. do 2019., rezultati su analize podataka najnovije studije objavljene u online časopisu Lancet Planetary Health.

Autori su analizirali i podatke iz studije pod nazivom Global Burden of Disease, Sveučilišta Washington koja procjenjuje ukupnu izloženost onečišćenju i izračunava rizik od smrtnosti.

Oni kažu da je utjecaj zagađenja na globalno zdravlje "još uvijek puno veći od negativnih utjecaja rata, terorizma, malarije, HIV-a, tuberkuloze, droge i alkohola".

Onečišćenje zraka predstavlja "egzistencijalnu prijetnju ljudskome zdravlju i zdravlju planeta i ugrožava održivost modernih društava", stoji u izvješću.

"No za razliku od klimatskih promjena, malarije ili HIV-a, zagađenju okoliša ne pridajemo previše pozornosti", upozorio je. 

Svaka šesta prijevremena smrt u svijetu, a to je oko devet milijuna ljudi, posljedica je onečišćenja zraka. Ta se brojka nije promijenila od posljednje procjene iz 2015.

Za usporedbu, covid-19 je, od početka pandemije ubio oko 6,7 milijuna ljudi u svijetu.

Voda i zrak u unutarnjim prostorima

Istraživači su uočili smanjenje stope smrtnosti povezano s onečišćenjem zraka u zatvorenom prostoru, s nekvalitetnom pitkom vodom i neadekvatnim sanitarnim uvjetima.

No u porastu su preuranjeni smrtni ishodi povezani s industrijalizacijom, kemijskim onečišćenjem i onečišćenjem vanjskog zraka, osobito u južnoj i istočnoj Aziji.

Nova analiza konkretnije se bavi uzrocima onečišćenja te razdvaja tradicionalne zagađivače, poput dima od peći u zatvorenim prostorima ili kanalizacijskog otpada od modernijih zagađivača, poput industrijskog onečišćenja zraka i otrovnih kemikalija.

U porastu je i kemijsko onečišćenje, a samo trovanje olovom uzrok je 900.000 smrtnih slučajeva godišnje.

Smrtnost od tradicionalnih zagađivača globalno je u padu, no ostaje velik problem u Africi i nekim drugim zemljama u razvoju. Onečišćena voda, tlo i zagađen zrak u zatvorenom prostoru dovode Čad, Srednjoafričku Republiku i Niger među tri zemlje s najvećim brojem smrtnih slučajeva povezanih sa zagađenjem.

Državni programi za smanjenje onečišćenja zraka u zatvorenim prostorima i poboljšanje sanitarnih uvjeta pomogli su da se u nekim područjima smanji broj smrti. U Etiopiji i Nigeriji ovakvi su napori rezultirali smanjenjem broja smrtnih slučajeva za dvije trećine između 2000. i 2019. U međuvremenu je indijska vlada stanovnicima 2016. počela nuditi zamjenu peći na drva priključcima za plinske peći.

Suvremeni zagađivači 

Broj smrtnih slučajeva čiji je uzrok izloženost modernim zagađivačima, kao što su teški metali, poljoprivredne kemikalije i emisije fosilnih goriva "rastu u nebo" i od 2000. godine su porasle za 66 posto, rekla je koautorica studije Rachael Kupka, izvršna direktorica Globalnog saveza za zdravlje i zagađenje sa sjedištem u New Yorku .

Kada je riječ o onečišćenju zraka na otvorenom, neki veliki glavni gradovi postigli su određeni uspjeh, no u manjim gradovima razina onečišćenja i dalje raste.

Znanstvenici su u izvjšću objavili popis 10 zemalja svijeta u kojima je najviše smrtnih slučajeva od posljedica onečišćenja. To su Čad, Srednjoafrička Republika, Niger, Solomonski  Otoci, Somalija, Južnoafrička Republika, Sjeverna Koreja, Lesoto, Bugarska i Burkina Faso.

Prema novom globalnom izvješću objavljenom u srijedu, onečišćenje zraka godišnje rezultira prijevremenom smrću oko 9 milijuna ljudi u svijetu, a stručnjaci upozoravaju na to da sve više ljudi umire i od posljedica trovanja olovom.

Otpad koji stvara čovjek, a nakuplja se u zraku, vodi i u tlu, rijetko ubija ljude odmah. Najčešće je s odmakom uzrok razvoja srčanih bolesti, raka, respiratornih problema, proljeva i ostalih teških bolesti.

Kombinacija urbanizacije i onečišćenja zraka industrijskim procesima rezultirala je porastom od 7 posto smrtnih slučajeva povezanih s onečišćenjem u razdoblju od 2015. do 2019., rezultati su analize podataka najnovije studije objavljene u online časopisu Lancet Planetary Health.

Autori su analizirali i podatke iz studije pod nazivom Global Burden of Disease, Sveučilišta Washington koja procjenjuje ukupnu izloženost onečišćenju i izračunava rizik od smrtnosti.

Oni kažu da je utjecaj zagađenja na globalno zdravlje "još uvijek puno veći od negativnih utjecaja rata, terorizma, malarije, HIV-a, tuberkuloze, droge i alkohola".

"Glavni izvor kombinacije onečišćenja zraka i klimatskih promjena je sagorijevanje fosilnih goriva i biogoriva. Mi sjedimo u loncu u kojemu se kuha gulaš i polako gorimo", slikovito je pojasnio koautor izvješća Richard Fuller iz Globalnog saveza za zdravlje i zagađenje i voditelj neprofitne organizacije Pure Earth, dodavši da kemijsko zagađenje šteti i bioraznolikosti, a to je još jedna velika globalna prijetnja.

"No za razliku od klimatskih promjena, malarije ili HIV-a, zagađenju okoliša ne pridajemo previše pozornosti", upozorio je. 

Svaka šesta prijevremena smrt u svijetu, a to je oko devet milijuna ljudi, posljedica je onečišćenja zraka. Ta se brojka nije promijenila od posljednje procjene iz 2015.

Za usporedbu, covid-19 je, od početka pandemije ubio oko 6,7 milijuna ljudi u svijetu.

Voda i zrak u unutarnjim prostorima

Istraživači su uočili smanjenje stope smrtnosti povezano s onečišćenjem zraka u zatvorenom prostoru, s nekvalitetnom pitkom vodom i neadekvatnim sanitarnim uvjetima.

No u porastu su preuranjeni smrtni ishodi povezani s industrijalizacijom, kemijskim onečišćenjem i onečišćenjem vanjskog zraka, osobito u južnoj i istočnoj Aziji.

Nova analiza konkretnije se bavi uzrocima onečišćenja te razdvaja tradicionalne zagađivače, poput dima od peći u zatvorenim prostorima ili kanalizacijskog otpada od modernijih zagađivača, poput industrijskog onečišćenja zraka i otrovnih kemikalija.

U porastu je i kemijsko onečišćenje, a samo trovanje olovom uzrok je 900.000 smrtnih slučajeva godišnje.

Smrtnost od tradicionalnih zagađivača globalno je u padu, no ostaje velik problem u Africi i nekim drugim zemljama u razvoju. Onečišćena voda, tlo i zagađen zrak u zatvorenom prostoru dovode Čad, Srednjoafričku Republiku i Niger među tri zemlje s najvećim brojem smrtnih slučajeva povezanih sa zagađenjem.

Državni programi za smanjenje onečišćenja zraka u zatvorenim prostorima i poboljšanje sanitarnih uvjeta pomogli su da se u nekim područjima smanji broj smrti. U Etiopiji i Nigeriji ovakvi su napori rezultirali smanjenjem broja smrtnih slučajeva za dvije trećine između 2000. i 2019. U međuvremenu je indijska vlada stanovnicima 2016. počela nuditi zamjenu peći na drva priključcima za plinske peći.

Suvremeni zagađivači 

Broj smrtnih slučajeva čiji je uzrok izloženost modernim zagađivačima, kao što su teški metali, poljoprivredne kemikalije i emisije fosilnih goriva "rastu u nebo" i od 2000. godine su porasle za 66 posto, rekla je koautorica studije Rachael Kupka, izvršna direktorica Globalnog saveza za zdravlje i zagađenje sa sjedištem u New Yorku .

Kada je riječ o onečišćenju zraka na otvorenom, neki veliki glavni gradovi postigli su određeni uspjeh, no u manjim gradovima razina onečišćenja i dalje raste.

Znanstvenici su u izvjšću objavili popis 10 zemalja svijeta u kojima je najviše smrtnih slučajeva od posljedica onečišćenja. To su Čad, Srednjoafrička Republika, Niger, Solomonski  Otoci, Somalija, Južnoafrička Republika, Sjeverna Koreja, Lesoto, Bugarska i Burkina Faso.

Prema novom globalnom izvješću objavljenom u srijedu, onečišćenje zraka godišnje rezultira prijevremenom smrću oko 9 milijuna ljudi u svijetu, a stručnjaci upozoravaju na to da sve više ljudi umire i od posljedica trovanja olovom.

Otpad koji stvara čovjek, a nakuplja se u zraku, vodi i u tlu, rijetko ubija ljude odmah. Najčešće je s odmakom uzrok razvoja srčanih bolesti, raka, respiratornih problema, proljeva i ostalih teških bolesti.

Kombinacija urbanizacije i onečišćenja zraka industrijskim procesima rezultirala je porastom od 7 posto smrtnih slučajeva povezanih s onečišćenjem u razdoblju od 2015. do 2019., rezultati su analize podataka najnovije studije objavljene u online časopisu Lancet Planetary Health.
