Nakon gotovo 50.000 podrhtavanja tla sinoć je na jugozapadu Islanda na poluotoku Reykjanes eruptirao vulkan. Kako je priopćio meteorološki ured te zemlje erupcija vulkana započela je u Fagradalsfjallu, planini smještenoj oko 30 kilometara jugozapadno od glavnog grada Reykjavika.
Islandski portali puni su slika noćnog neba koje je zbog vulkana bilo žarkocrveno.

Reuters je objavio kako je zbog erupcije sav dolazni i odlazni zračni promet s međunarodne zračne luke Keflavik zaustavljen, a helikopter sa znanstvenim osobljem koji je poslan kako bi procijenio opseg erupcije, morao se vratiti zbog opasnosti.

Islandski meteorološki ured objavio je na svom Twitteru nekoliko video snimaka erupcije, snimljenih iz helikoptera. Objavili su kako se očekuje povećana zagađenost zraka te su zamolili građane da ostanu u zatvorenom i da ne otvaraju prozore.

---U prvim snimcima koje je objavila islandske meteorološke služba vidi se manja erupcija, sa dva potoka lave koja se slivaju u suprotnim pravcima. Sjaj na nebu od užarene lave mogao se vidjeti iz predgrađa glavnog grada Rejkjavika udaljenog oko 32 kilometara.
Agencija za upravljanje izvanrednim situacijama objavila je kako za sada ne planira evakuacije stanovništva budući se vulkan nalazi u dolini udaljenoj oko 2,5 kilometara od najbližeg puta.

---U prvim snimcima koje je objavila islandske meteorološke služba vidi se manja erupcija, sa dva potoka lave koja se slivaju u suprotnim pravcima. Sjaj na nebu od užarene lave mogao se vidjeti iz predgrađa glavnog grada Rejkjavika udaljenog oko 32 kilometara.
Agencija za upravljanje izvanrednim situacijama objavila je kako za sada ne planira evakuacije stanovništva budući se vulkan nalazi u dolini udaljenoj oko 2,5 kilometara od najbližeg puta.
