Nigerijski senator i njegova supruga optuženi su da su planirali prokrijumčariti dijete beskućnika u Veliku Britaniju kako bi mu uzeli organe, piše Daily Mail, a prenosi Jutarnji list.
Ike Ekweremadu, političar iz Narodne demokratske stranke koji je nekoć bio zamjenik predsjednika nacionalnog senata, i Beatrice Nwanneka Ekweremadu optuženi su za pokušaj trgovine organima 15-godišnjaka iz Lagosa i njegovo krijumčarenje u Ujedinjeno Kraljevstvo.
Par, koji ima četvero djece i kuću u Willesdenu u sjevernom Londonu, namjeravao je presaditi dječakove organe svojoj kćeri koja pati od zatajenja bubrega.
Policija je prošlog mjeseca upozorena na potencijalno kršenje zakona o modernom ropstvu.
Uhitili su par prije dva dana u zračnoj luci Heathrow dok su se pokušavali ukrcati na avion za Tursku, gdje je navodni postupak trebao biti izveden.
Ekweremadu (60) je navodno imao 20.000 funti kod sebe u vrijeme uhićenja, tvrde tužitelji.
15-godišnji dječak je predan skrbi nadležnih tijela i policije.
Ekweremadu i njegova supruga Beatrice (55), inače knjigovotkinja, optuženi su za urotu kako bi organizirali ili olakšali putovanje druge osobe s ciljem njezina iskorištavanja, odnosno uzimanja organa.
Tužiteljica Damla Ayas je rekla: 'Radi se o zavjeri u vezi s kaznenim djelom trgovine ljudima u svrhu uzimanja organa. Žrtva u ovom slučaju ima 15 godina.'
Gospodin Ekweremadu je u svojoj pripremljenoj izjavi zanijekao optužbe o trgovini ljudima ili organima.
'Rekao je da ni u jednoj fazi nije organizirao prijevoz za bilo koga s namjerom da ga iskoristi.'
Njegova supruga na sličan je način demantirala optužbe.
Gavin Irwin, koji zastupa Ekweremadua, rekao je: 'Nema sumnje da je ovo ozbiljna optužba. Gospodin Ekweremadu je član senata u Nigeriji. Prije je obnašao još viši položaj kao zamjenik predsjednika Senata. On je član odvjetništva u Nigeriji i ravnatelj u odvjetničkoj tvrtki koja nosi njegovo ime.'
Dodao je i kako su optužbe 'besmislica'.
Antonia Grey je o gospođi Ekweremadu rekla: 'Ona nikada nije bila suučesnica, niti je bila upletena u bilo kakvu navodnu ilegalnu trgovinu ljudima. Ona je financijska računovotkinja s besprijekornim dosijeom.'
Sutkinja Lois Sheard je za dvoje optuženih odredila pritvor prije njihova saslušanja sljedećeg mjeseca.
Istragu je pokrenuo poseban policijski tim nakon što su detektivi u svibnju 2022. upozoreni na potencijalna kaznena djela prema zakonima o modernom ropstvu.
Metropolitanska policija je priopćila da je dijete, čije su organe navodno željeli uzeti, sada na brizi nadležnih službi.
Vađenje organa uključuje vađenje dijelova tijela, često za gotovinu i protiv volje žrtve.
Ekweremadu je bio u Velikoj Britaniji posljednja dva tjedna nakon što se prije desetak dana u Lincolnu sastao s članovima nigerijske zajednice u Britaniji.
Na Twitteru je napisao: 'Bilo mi je zadovoljstvo i čast primiti pismo Sveučilišta Lincoln da sam imenovan gostujućim profesorom korporativnih i međunarodnih veza. Dobio sam i vrlo vrijedan dar - primjerak Magna Carte. Nastao je 1215. godine, prije otprilike 807 godina'.
Godine 2017. bivši ministar nigerijske vlade tvrdio je da su migrantima iz njegove zemlje vađeni organi nakon što su prodani u ropstvo.
Femi Fani-Kayode, nekadašnji ministar zrakoplovstva u Nigeriji, kazao je da je 75 posto robova kojima su izvađeni organi u sjevernoj Africi, iz njegove zemlje.
Odvjetnik sa sveučilišta Cambridge dodao je da žrtve često završe s 'unakaženim tijelima ili opeklinama'.

Nigerijski senator i njegova supruga optuženi su da su planirali prokrijumčariti dijete beskućnika u Veliku Britaniju kako bi mu uzeli organe, piše Daily Mail, a prenosi Jutarnji list.
Ike Ekweremadu, političar iz Narodne demokratske stranke koji je nekoć bio zamjenik predsjednika nacionalnog senata, i Beatrice Nwanneka Ekweremadu optuženi su za pokušaj trgovine organima 15-godišnjaka iz Lagosa i njegovo krijumčarenje u Ujedinjeno Kraljevstvo.
Par, koji ima četvero djece i kuću u Willesdenu u sjevernom Londonu, namjeravao je presaditi dječakove organe svojoj kćeri koja pati od zatajenja bubrega.
Policija je prošlog mjeseca upozorena na potencijalno kršenje zakona o modernom ropstvu.
Uhitili su par prije dva dana u zračnoj luci Heathrow dok su se pokušavali ukrcati na avion za Tursku, gdje je navodni postupak trebao biti izveden.
Ekweremadu (60) je navodno imao 20.000 funti kod sebe u vrijeme uhićenja, tvrde tužitelji.
15-godišnji dječak je predan skrbi nadležnih tijela i policije.
Ekweremadu i njegova supruga Beatrice (55), inače knjigovotkinja, optuženi su za urotu kako bi organizirali ili olakšali putovanje druge osobe s ciljem njezina iskorištavanja, odnosno uzimanja organa.
Tužiteljica Damla Ayas je rekla: 'Radi se o zavjeri u vezi s kaznenim djelom trgovine ljudima u svrhu uzimanja organa. Žrtva u ovom slučaju ima 15 godina.'
Gospodin Ekweremadu je u svojoj pripremljenoj izjavi zanijekao optužbe o trgovini ljudima ili organima.
'Rekao je da ni u jednoj fazi nije organizirao prijevoz za bilo koga s namjerom da ga iskoristi.'
Njegova supruga na sličan je način demantirala optužbe.
Gavin Irwin, koji zastupa Ekweremadua, rekao je: 'Nema sumnje da je ovo ozbiljna optužba. Gospodin Ekweremadu je član senata u Nigeriji. Prije je obnašao još viši položaj kao zamjenik predsjednika Senata. On je član odvjetništva u Nigeriji i ravnatelj u odvjetničkoj tvrtki koja nosi njegovo ime.'
Dodao je i kako su optužbe 'besmislica'.
Antonia Grey je o gospođi Ekweremadu rekla: 'Ona nikada nije bila suučesnica, niti je bila upletena u bilo kakvu navodnu ilegalnu trgovinu ljudima. Ona je financijska računovotkinja s besprijekornim dosijeom.'
Sutkinja Lois Sheard je za dvoje optuženih odredila pritvor prije njihova saslušanja sljedećeg mjeseca.
Istragu je pokrenuo poseban policijski tim nakon što su detektivi u svibnju 2022. upozoreni na potencijalna kaznena djela prema zakonima o modernom ropstvu.
Metropolitanska policija je priopćila da je dijete, čije su organe navodno željeli uzeti, sada na brizi nadležnih službi.
Vađenje organa uključuje vađenje dijelova tijela, često za gotovinu i protiv volje žrtve.
Ekweremadu je bio u Velikoj Britaniji posljednja dva tjedna nakon što se prije desetak dana u Lincolnu sastao s članovima nigerijske zajednice u Britaniji.
Na Twitteru je napisao: 'Bilo mi je zadovoljstvo i čast primiti pismo Sveučilišta Lincoln da sam imenovan gostujućim profesorom korporativnih i međunarodnih veza. Dobio sam i vrlo vrijedan dar - primjerak Magna Carte. Nastao je 1215. godine, prije otprilike 807 godina'.
Godine 2017. bivši ministar nigerijske vlade tvrdio je da su migrantima iz njegove zemlje vađeni organi nakon što su prodani u ropstvo.
Femi Fani-Kayode, nekadašnji ministar zrakoplovstva u Nigeriji, kazao je da je 75 posto robova kojima su izvađeni organi u sjevernoj Africi, iz njegove zemlje.
Odvjetnik sa sveučilišta Cambridge dodao je da žrtve često završe s 'unakaženim tijelima ili opeklinama'.
'Živi pečeni! To je ono što Libijci rade podsaharskim Afrikancima koji traže tranzitnu točku za Europu. Prodaju ih u ropstvo ili ih ubijaju, sakate, muče ili tjeraju da rade do smrti', kazao je, prenosi Jutarnji list.
