Amerikanac iz Floride umro je od infekcije nakon što mu je u organizam ušla ameba koja jede mozak. Zdravstveni dužnosnici odjela za zdravstvo Floride u okrugu Charlotte kažu da se čovjek najvjerojatnije zarazio nakon što je isprao sinuse vodom iz slavine, prenosi Sky News. 

Naegleria fowleri, poznata kao ameba koja jede mozak, jednostanični je organizam koji se nalazi u tlu i slatkoj vodi diljem svijeta. Nesretnom čovjeku ameba je ušla u tijelo kroz nos, zatim putovala do mozga, gdje uništava moždano tkivo i uzrokuje razornu infekciju zvanu "primarni amebni meningoencefalitis". Ta infekcija je gotovo uvijek smrtonosna.

Većina infekcija dolazi od kupanja u toplim jezerima ili rijekama ljeti jer ameba voli toplinu. Simptomi zaraze uključuju glavobolje, groznicu, mučninu, gubitak ravnoteže, dezorijentaciju, napadaje i ukočen vrat.

Ljudi se ne mogu zaraziti pijući vodu iz slavine, ali preporučuje se koristiti destilirana ili sterilna voda za ispiranje sinusa. Vodu iz slavine treba kuhati najmanje jednu minutu i ohladiti prije ispiranja sinusa.

Ove infekcije su rijetke, sa samo tri potvrđena slučaja u SAD-u prošle godine, prema službenim podacima. Jedan slučaj prijavljen je 2019., drugi 2020. i treći 2021. godine.

Amerikanac iz Floride umro je od infekcije nakon što mu je u organizam ušla ameba koja jede mozak. Zdravstveni dužnosnici odjela za zdravstvo Floride u okrugu Charlotte kažu da se čovjek najvjerojatnije zarazio nakon što je isprao sinuse vodom iz slavine, prenosi Sky News. 

Naegleria fowleri, poznata kao ameba koja jede mozak, jednostanični je organizam koji se nalazi u tlu i slatkoj vodi diljem svijeta. Nesretnom čovjeku ameba je ušla u tijelo kroz nos, zatim putovala do mozga, gdje uništava moždano tkivo i uzrokuje razornu infekciju zvanu "primarni amebni meningoencefalitis". Ta infekcija je gotovo uvijek smrtonosna.

Većina infekcija dolazi od kupanja u toplim jezerima ili rijekama ljeti jer ameba voli toplinu. Simptomi zaraze uključuju glavobolje, groznicu, mučninu, gubitak ravnoteže, dezorijentaciju, napadaje i ukočen vrat.

Ljudi se ne mogu zaraziti pijući vodu iz slavine, ali preporučuje se koristiti destilirana ili sterilna voda za ispiranje sinusa. Vodu iz slavine treba kuhati najmanje jednu minutu i ohladiti prije ispiranja sinusa.

Ove infekcije su rijetke, sa samo tri potvrđena slučaja u SAD-u prošle godine, prema službenim podacima. Jedan slučaj prijavljen je 2019., drugi 2020. i treći 2021. godine.

Amerikanac iz Floride umro je od infekcije nakon što mu je u organizam ušla ameba koja jede mozak. Zdravstveni dužnosnici odjela za zdravstvo Floride u okrugu Charlotte kažu da se čovjek najvjerojatnije zarazio nakon što je isprao sinuse vodom iz slavine, prenosi Sky News. 

Naegleria fowleri, poznata kao ameba koja jede mozak, jednostanični je organizam koji se nalazi u tlu i slatkoj vodi diljem svijeta. Nesretnom čovjeku ameba je ušla u tijelo kroz nos, zatim putovala do mozga, gdje uništava moždano tkivo i uzrokuje razornu infekciju zvanu "primarni amebni meningoencefalitis". Ta infekcija je gotovo uvijek smrtonosna.

Većina infekcija dolazi od kupanja u toplim jezerima ili rijekama ljeti jer ameba voli toplinu. Simptomi zaraze uključuju glavobolje, groznicu, mučninu, gubi...
